In all seriousness I have done something to my knee and I can't train my legs or cardio at the mo, but I'm working around it

Farrrrk and I was reading that thinking....shit...IDW has a chance now!!

nice one mate, can't be low-carbed enough to crack jokes like that haha

Got knee assessed and it turns out it was a strained LCL ligament. I had to wear a compression knee sleeve, ice it, ibuprofen every 4 hours and most importantly give it as much rest as possible. So I didn't train anything standing or cardio at all this week till today. Miraculously it seemed to come right about 80% today so I went in and did a little bit of delts, snatches and 20 mins cross trainer.

Later in tonight I went into Kudos and had a train with Big Dan a week out from the Waikato champs. He's looking lean and mean and gonna push a massive total (800+ hopefully).

He worked up to a shirted 2 board bench with 260kg. Came down, touched, pushed back up and stalled at 2/3 up. I came under the bar with my elbows to spot of needed and his arm gave way. The barbell flew down and crushed my forearm into Dans face before coming to rest on the safety's. They weren't set high enough. Fortunately dan is bloody tough and he didn't care about the Bruce lee chop to the head.

I did a few warmup sets at 60kg, 100kg and 140kg then did a single at 180kg.

Dropped back down to 140kg and did another 3 sets of 8-10 reps.

Did 4 sets of bw dips next

Then we set up the power rack so the barbell was sitting about top of the head and we shoulder pressed from arms parallel to the ground up to lockout. First time doing these. 60kg and 100kg warmup sets. Then I tried 140kg, wouldn't budge so dropped back to 120kg and did a few sets of 6-10. Dan had some sniffing salts he had imported and f*ck they were strong, made my eyes water. After 5 reps on the last set he waved it in front of my nose and I did another 3 reps lol.

Good strong session. I love it every now and again.

Will get a train in tomorrow (got to love 24hr 365 days a year access) and again Saturday, will try get some cardio sessions in to if my knee allow it.

Then I'm heading down to Napier first thing Sunday to catch up with the East Coast Muscle team and going along to the Hawkes Bay strongest man. Just watching though ;)

stunt lifting with 260kg ... nice!

Yeah it was a bit like that, got the 220 no worries, the 260 was ridiculous, I've never seen a bench that big before. Good effort!

24/365 is pretty sweet bro! I am just lucky I have access to the sports lab at Massey!

Good training bro, keep up the solid work! Glad the knee is coming right

It's a neccesity over long weekends. I couldn't imagine not being able to train for 4 days!!!!

Good to hear the knee is coming right.

Thanks Gymrat. So am I!

Can't wait till my smelling salts arrive then !

You can work through the injury mate it's what makes a good bodybuilder a great one. Miss the contest prep reading your Journal, keep it up :-)

As much as we moan about it at the time it really is quite fun prepping for a show. Well as long as everything is going to plan :D

I will be very surprised if we don't see you on stage at the end of this year bro, can you resist the urge (you don't have to qualify for NABBA WFF nationals, just turn up to it)

Had an awesome weekend down in Napier this Easter.

Went and caught some if the action at Hawkes Bays strongest man. Sam Magele was unreal, it was a shame he didn't push himself, he won every event effortlessly. Some of the other guys were really giving it everything. The young 19yo Ethan Foote has great potential with his height and broadness but the standout was the heart the 83kg Shannon threw into everything. More than 20kg lighter than the next smallest guy he still managed to do himself proud. He was my pick for performance of the day.

Caught up with Nate who despite dieting like a madman the last 8 weeks is still holding his muscle mass well and looking beastly. I know he's got another 6 weeks of hard dieting to get into she condition for the Chch show but I'm sure he will get there and go bloody well for his first show in ages (exactly how long has it been bro? 10 years?)

The main purpose of the trip was to catch up with Missy and MuscleNZ and check my progress with prep especially my posing and routine. Missy had completely choreographed my new routine and we spent a couple of hours on Sunday and again on Monday going over and over it. I'm not the most light footed guy around and my transitions aren't silky smooth but with Missys persistence and patience I'm pretty sure I've got it sussed. Now I just need to practice practice practice every night till I can do it in my sleep.

I also got my custom made East Coast Muscle Leather Jacket. It tapers in at the waist and looks awesome. I'm stoked!

Drove back up to Hamilton and went into Flex. I trained Back.

4 sets of Widegrip pullups. 10 - 15 reps

4 sets of Hammer strength rows w 3 plates. 12 - 18 reps

4 sets of Seated Cable rows w full stack 10 - 16 reps with dropset to half stack to failure on last set

3 sets of DB snatches w 95lb DBS. 5 reps per arm.

5 sets of behind the neck lat pull downs w half stack 12 - 16 reps

30 mins cross trainer

10 mins in boxing bags

Done

Got a photoshoot this week with Matt @ No Limitz photography so I'll throw some pics up from that on the journal.

I'm just glad my knee is back in action. Not going to push it now, just keep the reps higher and not go crazy on my legs. They are already looking pretty good so I don't think they need much more than maintainence.

Dunno about that bro but definately need 6 weeks to get anywhere near the condition you're already in!

Twelve years since I've been on stage, so will only get out there again if I'm truly ready! Will make that call in the next few weeks, otherwise I'll be the cut guy in the audience!

Big gains for you - particularly through delts / arms. Looking good for Chch SG.

Just catching up your log bro...seems like things are going smoothly

Love the commitment you have man, your condition being testament to it. Hope the knee heals fully and you can finish the job with again this year.

Painted a mean mental picture of you catching/saving Dans face  bet he was glad someone strong was there to upright row it off his dial :D

Cheers Nate. I hope you make the call to do the show but even if you don't I hope you keep going, you've got about 18 weeks till the Pans, imagine where you could be by then!

It all happened so fast Steak, I was just lucky Dans such a hard bastard and didn't even Flinch. We talked about making a trip up to CBC in the near future so you better order some more mirrors

Did 40 mins cross trainer this morning at 6, wanted 60 but felt dead. I'm not used to fasted cardio, if I do it first thing I usually eat first. Walked on incline for another 10 then called it.

Went back in after a hard day and trained Triceps with a little bit of Abs and Biceps.

Warmed up close grip bench with sets at 60kg and 100kg

Used 142.5kg for working sets. Went 8 reps first set, then 6 the next. Only hit 5 on the third so racked, dropped weight to 125kg and did 6 more.

Next exercise was Weighted Dips. Put weight belt on (new notch!) and put 2 x 45lb plates with chain. Did 3 sets of 18 / 16 / 16. Last set was just body weight and pumped out 20 reps. Pulled shirt up and noticed the belt had left marks on my waist from the weights pulling it down. Hope they clear up before photoshoot.

Then I did DB skullcrushers. 4 sets with the 50lb DBs. 12 - 8 reps per set.

Finished on cable pulldowns with rope. 3 sets of 16 - 20 reps with 1/3 stack.

3 sets 12 of Hanging leg raises next then a couple of sets of jackknifes.

Did a few 1 min rounds in the boxing bag to try release the pump In my triceps before I hit biceps.

4 sets of single arm curls on curl machine at half stack 8 - 12 reps

3 sets of hammer curls w 70lb DBS

10 mins posing practice

My Nutritionist sprung me with an impromptu bodyfat test booked in for lunchtime tomorrow. Ahhhh. Nah I'm confident I've made good progress since my last weigh-in so I'm not to worried.

I might even reveal how much I'm weighing at the moment too (it's pretty low, but it's conditioning im chasing not weight on the scales).

Thanks PD, Android and Harry! You guys help keep up the motivation, I value your input.

I was thinking of you when I did those close grip benches IDW, if he can do them so can I!!!

Weigh in went great this morning. I weighed in depleted, dry and AM weight in just singlet and shorts. Scales read 98.2kg and 4 site calliper test read 4.8% bodyfat.

I am officially the leanest I have ever been (was 5.0% before nats last year) and definitely look it. Not feeling spaced out like last year. Still have 5.5 weeks till Chch so the 3.5% goal is looking very realistic.

I popped off a Rakich Ab shot this morning too. Might pop it up later just for you PD :pfft:
