He is a tank alright!

Oh and IDW you know a while ago SG and I tried to rope a bunch of people into a bit of workout challenge and the benchmark on bench was only 120k for as many reps as possible. BUt of course back then no one wanted to play with us. I felt so neglected.

Damn, that'd be a nice challenge for me... my shoulder hurts just thinking about going above that these days... bloody AC joint! Argh! Interesting that no one wanted to play along with that challenge.

23 on 120kg's pretty good man!

Well on a good day I can do 30-35 full reps on 100kg so I'd say 15 would be where I'm at with that. But, I need to keep the reps moving damn fast to get high numbers... still good reps, but the speed makes it easier. That vid SG posted of close to 160 for 9 was pretty slow and controlled... if he did my technique I bet he'd hit 12-15 with that.

I think you'll find his vid on here somewhere? They were pretty quick I think at that weight. Would be interesting to have a crack at some reps now that I actually do a lot of higher rep range training. I think SG and I were both doing all low rep shit then, I know I was.

Yeah thats the way I bench IDW, being a bodybuilder I'm into the muscle contraction as opposed to just moving the weight. Trying to move away from that approach and be more explosive so I can put up some good numbers!

I would say we could probably bench more reps at 120 now we are doing high reps aye Harry. At the time I was doing lots of doubles and triples so max reps was a shock to the system :shifty:

I headed to the gym yesterday evening with the intention of knocking over some heavy squats. Had my first caffiene and pre workout supp in 10 days beforehand so I would be nicely amped for it. Got to the gym and had to park in the empty section across the road from my gym because the carpark and all up the road was full which is never a good sign.

Went into the weights room and both squat racks were in use. Thats fine I thought and warmed up with some lunges and extensions. When one of the racks became free I got in there and warmed up to 3pps. Unfortunately there were no free plates because a couple of guys were benching, and pair of guys were barbell rowing, another guy was squatting and a trio of guys were on the leg press with about 10pps. Waited for 10 mins till the guys on the bench were finished. Approached them but they wanted the plates for the seated military press. The guys on the leg press were mucking around, quarter repping and spotting each other and talking shit between sets. Started to get a bit pissed cos I just wanted a few more plates so I could squat.

Did a couple more warmup sets a 3pps to keep warm. Walked over to the drink fountain to fill up my drink bottle , turned around and the guys on the leg press had left and a pair of guys had jumped straight on. Mutha f#$%^r!

I gave it another 15 minutes before I realised it had been 40 minutes since I had started squatting. I decided it just wasn't going to happen tonight. So very pissed off I unracked the bar and decided to do shoulders.

4 sets of 12-15 DB shoulder press w 100lb DB's

Strict Side raises ss w bent over rear delt raises 3 sets of 10+10 w 50lb DB's

3 sets of 12 Front raises w 65lb Barbell

Most average session in years = Done.

Guess I'll have to save those squats for Sunday with Android (and possible IDW and TLAF?)

Was flicking through Flex magazine. Nek Minnit. Picture of me at the Perth IFBB show I did in March \:D/ Cool, I got in Flex Magazine

And was also in a local newspaper article with quarter page picture last week. It talked about my seasons successes and how I guest posed and spoke at the school assembely a few weeks back.

Now, to find a way to turn the publicity into sponsorship

Wow you really plan your pre-workout supps well ahead of time \:D/

Well done on the publicity bro, it's when you aren't screaming out for publicity and still get it that you know it's deserved.

Damn you've already done 3pps Squats, wanna try 3 and 1/2 pps on Sunday? hahaha

Trained at Les Mills in the city with Android, I declare war and Trainlikeafreak.

Did a couple of warmup sets on the leg extension machine then took over 2 squat racks. I shared with Android, while TLAF and IDW had the other one.

Warmed up to 4PPS then loaded up 230kg for a working set. Did 5 good reps then smacked the barbell on the rail on the 6th so had to dump it. Was pretty sure I was good for a few more so next working set I went with 220kg and did a solid set of 8 (damn it where's the camera for the comp lol).

Finished off with a set of 20 @ 160kg.

Took a sample of The Curse before the squats and after that effort I got a really bad back pump and headache :(

Intensity for the rest of the session took a hit.

Did some hack squat 4 working sets of 12 up to 5pps?

Leg extension 3-4 sets of 12 w half to full stack

Seated leg curls superset w calf raises

Finished on DB stifflegs

Legs were toasted by the end!

Was awesome catching up with the boys from the forum. Android is larger than life In err real life, massive everything. Just got to work on that strength now. Squatting 4 wheels a side when you have the testosterone level on a 12 year old girl is pretty impressive though!

IDW looks a lot bigger than what he weighs. Chest just hangs off his frame like it belongs on someone much bigger lol.

TLAF is a big unit too. Almost 100kg still in his teens. His hunger and drive will make him a big contender in the future.

Good training today SG, good pace and weight moved. Be good to see what difference I can make in a couple of months time, trying 220kg should be a goal of mine by then.

Wasn't sure of the value adding a 5kg plate to the ends of your 5pps lifts until you said "yeah but what difference will they make if they are there". Kind of an "aha" moment there for me and you made a good point. Priceless 8) cheers mate

For people who are unaware: I loaded up 5 plates per side and then decided to add another 5kg plate to each side. Android queried why would I add them, they would hardly make any difference. I replied "exactly".

What I mean is that by making small increment advances I will not notice the added weight and get progressively stronger, just like how you do when you first start out training. I'm in offseason growth mode so going back to basics. Its alot easier to go up in quarter plates each session than jump up a whole plate every 4 weeks.

Trained chest this afternoon with the boys.

Started on flat bench

Warmed up to 3pps then loaded 183kg to see how many reps I could get

I got 3 mint reps unassisted and spotter free which is a PB at this weight.

Dropped back to 140kg and did 2 sets of 15 and 12 again no touch from spotter.

Moved onto flat DB press and did 3 sets with inverted close grip squeezing the chest. Did 3 or 4 sets of 12-15 w 100lb DBs

Incline DB press next. 3 sets of 15-18 w 100lb DBs.

Chest was pretty hammered at this stage with all the pressing do we moved into the cable and did incline bench flies w cables. 4 sets of 12 reps, medium weight big squeeze.

Finished on Cable Crossovers supersetted with seated bench machine press. 3 sets of 15-21 cable crossovers and 21s on machine (7 top range, 7 low range, 7 full).

Big session with heavy low rep stuff and high rep fast intensity training thrown in too. Jumped on the scales and was only 111.8kg so went straight down to Maccas and had some burgers and a big shake from tank juice. Sposed to be putting on weight not losing it damn it!

183 x 3, jelly brah!

how are your joints with heavy pressing bro?

Cheers bro. Joints are feeling mint! Lots of water to lubricate them at the mo lol.

Haha, nice. Heavy benching

Thanks mate. Im really happy with the progress my bench has been making so far this offseason. 2 sessions a week has been paying off

Yesterday was Shoulders and Traps. Pretty fried from the pressing the day before so pretty standard workout.

DB Shoulder press - 5 sets @ 100lb DBs from

15-10 reps with droplet on last

DB side raises superset with bent over rear delt raises. 4 sets of 10/10 w 50lb DBs

DB front raises superset w Arnold Presses

3 sets of 10 @ 70lb DBs / 20 rep Arnold's w 40lb DBS

DB shrugs

3 sets of 21s w 100lb DBs

Body weight jumped up to 114 so eating slightly dirtier than normal is working. Cheers for the tip TWL! ;)

Today was Power Back session.

I tried this earlier in the year - 1 x Power Back day + 1 x Squeeze Back day - and had good results so I'm bringing it back in the lead up to my PL comp cos my Deadlifts still suck

Warmed up with a couple of sets of Widegrip Chins. Slow and contracted the lats. First set 10 reps, second only 8.

Quick stretch then into Deadlifts.

Warmed up with sets w the bar, 60kg, 140kg and 225kg.

I was in the corner of the gym that gets absolutely no aircon or airflow and the weights room was packed. I was dripping with sweat by now.

Loaded up 265kg and cracked it up to the knees then lost it grrrr

Dropped back to 250kg and pulled a pretty easy triple.

Next set went for 250kg again and couldn't crack it, was too sweaty and not in the zone anymore so I dropped back to 225 and did a few reps then called it a day on deads.

Took a couple of plates off the barbell and did 5 sets of 12 barbell rows @ 140kg

After that went and got the 100lb DBs and did 3 sets of 5 DB snatches with each arm.

Then loaded the barbell again to do Power Clean and presses.

Did a warmup set at 60kg and then 100kg.

Did a couple of doubles with 115kg (BW). I was too hot and fatigued to push any heavier. My form is terrible on this exercise. I basically just muscle it up. At least my press is pretty military, not push press. Would live to train with any lifter and work on it.

Finished on 4 sets of 16 Lat pull downs with full stack.

Back felt nicely toasted.

I was thinking after this session how sometimes I can pull 6 plates no worries and some days I can't. My deads are pretty inconsistent. Then I thought about how I push For PBs. I have generally failed a big lift at least a couple of times before I get it sometimes many times. I think to get PBs you have to not be afraid to fail the lift. I see a lot of guys who don't push anything they know they would struggle to hit and that's probably why they will never get it.

So I guess I just have to keep trying to pull 6 plates and then eventually the more times I get it the easier it will become. Then I will push on to new territory.

if u try to DL your max every workout then you wont progress as fast... somone correct me if im wrong but there are methodically planned programs to get certain 1rm lifts up much faster than the way u doing it at moment. think its called periodization.

the most iv deadlifted is 260kg in that strongman comp... but i hardly ever go up to 260 in the gym and i reckon i could do 280 now and im much lighter.

i dnt have much information but basically from my experience to go from 260kg to 280kg i dont have to deadlift 260kg in the gym every single time i go in there.

nomsayn?

or am i talking shit and i just magically did it lol
