Massive bro great work must be pleased with the end product?

Thanks bro. I'm happy I took won an open mens class title and Im happy with the amount of mass I managed to bring after an extended cut (on stage at over 100kg at a height of 5'8ish). Im just a bit disappointed with how I let my condition slip in the last 24 hours before the show, I should have known better. I was never going to beat Mark Reed this year. This season has given me alot of motivation to keep going strong and hopefully win overall Mr NZ title in one of the federations next year.

Hey didn't you say a little while back "unfortunately something has happened that may mean I will never squat heavy ever again. Bit gutted but more on that at a later date ".

Looks like you're squatting heavy!

Its all relative bro! Go back a few months and that was just a warmup set lol. The problem I have could be a major. I have developed an abdomen hernia. Its unruptured at the moment but I really don't want to push it too hard. I will be getting it examined by sports specialist soon and will explore my options. Looking at avenues of putting on mass this offseason without having to push new boundaries on heavy weights. Higher reps, higher intensity and lower rest periods are on the cards I think.

Its definately put a spanner in the works though :?

100kg on stage at 5'8" is awesome mate, and great pics not to mention that crazy quad sweep.

Wouldnt worry much about the changing up to lower weights a bit and higher reps for legs, i got a feeling it will actualy make them even better. Welldone...

Mate I have a couple ov hernias and they are fine. In saying that I'm not a bodybuilder and a buldging hernia probably doesn't look the best on stage. But they are fine to train with, just have to push em back in now and again. The only danger is if they strangulate, but I'm told you will definitely know if this happens.

Great pics bro....deserved your spot at the top

I have the mother of all hernias bro..a diastis recti just like Ronnie Coleman and a few others. Its a rupture of the abdominal wall from sternum to belly button. Gives me no trouble and just means that if I did drop the bodyfat off then I'd have a sort of spilt through the middle of the abs...purely cosmetic only.

well done, wouldn't beat yourself up too much

Look massive for a puny 100k's

Hernia's are a bitch especially when they rupture!

Get it sorted sooner rather than later

Cheers bro

Will definately get it looked at, although I don't hold much faith in a GP giving me good sports advice :-s Need to find a decent specialist I think.

Sorry to hear about the hernia bro. Do you remember any event that may have set it off?

I honestly don't know where it came from. Was posing one day about 8 weeks ago and noticed a small lump in my abdomen. Pushed it in and it went away

Cheers Bobsta! Will be taking a completely new approach this offseason, hopefully it brings my conditioning up to the next level.

Same as above, hitting different muscle fibers will b great for the Legs!

You look like a freaky bodybuilder should look like mate and with some improvements will dominate the following years regardless of who turns up.

Damn, I was going for the Aesthetic Dream look. Chicks don't really dig the freaky mass look :banging: :pfft:

That gives me alot of comfort because both you guys shift some serious weight. \:D/

After having most of last week off except for a couple of light sessions I felt reinvigorated. Still keeping the intensity and volume down on purpose for the next week or 2 to give the body a break.

Weighed in at 112kg yesterday, still a little bit water bloated a week after the comp but full as anything.

Started on Flat bench, warmed up with sets at bar, 60kg, 100kg

Did a set at 140kg. Repped out 12 easy reps, had more in me but thought Id save it.

Loaded up 165kg. Did 3 solid reps unspotted, hands were slipping cos it was so humid in the gym so racked it.

Decided to see if I could hit a 4pps bench. My gym has 45lb plates so that equates to just over 183kg.

Unracked it, let it come down slowly to chest, paused momentarily then shot it back up surprisingly fast. I'm happy strength has started to return so quickly, Im pretty sure if I work at it theres no reason I wont be benching 210+ paused by the end of the year.

Moved onto Incline DB benchUsed the 100lb DB's (45kg) as I still dont trust the adjustable ones.

First set repped out 25 reps

Second 18 reps

Third 15 reps

Fourth 12 reps, Dropset to 12 @ 60lb, Dropset 12 @ 35lb, Dropset 20 @ 20lb

Followed up with 4 sets of DB flies with 60lb Dbs. 12 - 15 reps each set

Then 3 sets of 12 -16 with Pec Deck at half stack

3 sets of cable crossovers with half stack to finish

Next I did a quick Bicep blast. Rest was short between sets.

3 sets of 12 single arm machine curls w half stack

3 sets of 12 Standing barbell curls w 60kg

3 sets of 12 seated Hammer Curls w 70lb DB's

3 sets of 12 Seated Double Bicep curls with 35lb DB's

Arms were swollen to the point where they had no shape anymore, just big bubbles lol. Got to love offseason

Thanks Guys! It just nice to be shifting some good weight again.

Trained legs tonight. Turned up and realized I had forgot my chucks so I would be squatting in my crosstrainers which are shit for squatting in!

None the less I still got into it

Warmed up with sets of 60kg, 100kg and 140kg

Decided to go for a 5 x 5 and racked up 225kg. Put a belt on and got into it.

First set was average, belt was pinching my belly so depth wasn't as low as I liked. Pulled my shorts right up to cover that spot and the rest of the sets went well. Rest between sets was a good 3-4 minutes. Deliberately tried to keep the intensity down.

Moved over to the leg extension machine next. Did 5 sets of 18-21 @ full stack

Seated Leg curls next. 4 sets of 16-20 @ 220lb

Finished on 2 sets of walking lunges with 100lb DB in each hand. 10 paces each set.

Again not a big session, just having fun in the gym and building back into it.

this is the most depressing/motivating journal on nzbb

Agreed, starting with some hating on SG!! lol casual 5 x 5 with 225k you say? Sure easy as... of course you wouldn't think that was hard work...

210 bench with pause by the end of the year you reckon.. yeah I might have a go too...

Bastard!!!!!!! lol

Come on guys it's all relative. You wait till I'm back in full action. Don't want to blow my horn to much but if there was a comp for NZ strongest bodybuilder I would give it a fair crack I reckon.

If you look strong you should be strong :shifty: (no hate android)

Hit 113.2kg last week. Yup 250lb. Still look in pretty decent shape too. Abs are there, obviously no where near as dominant as pre comp but who cares. :pfft:

Workouts last week have been pretty much on par with the week before. Low intensity, low volume just moving weight again.

Highlights were Cracking a 245kg dead, getting a solid double at 183kg bench followed up by 145kg x 15 reps and doing a set of 12 widegrip pullups at bodyweight.

One more week if cruising then I'm into my offseason. Can't bloody wait!

We have an in house 3 lift comp at my gym in mid December. That's only 7 weeks prep but that should be enough.

I want to go 210/310/280 all raw for an 800 total at around 120kg.

Hope my hernia doesn't plague my build up

Sounds like plan, but unfortunately it's for nz residents only bro :pfft:

Just kidding do you reckon post your lifts on YouTube or an actual event would be best? 1RM or 8-12 reps?

And to qualify you had to have competed in the last 12 months or be under 8% bf?

Who else can we get to play? I'm sure Nate would b keen but not sure he would qualify under the above rules. Darryn Onekawa? Philly? Nato? PD?

hmmm don't make up rules to keep me out!!! lol

I think you have to post vids.. like we did with the benches at 120,can't make an actual event cos everyone is all over the place. Maybe even work out on bw etc etc etc for the little fellas.
