I also felt sick as well and if that was me doing those squats I would be thinking pass me a zimmer frame with a bucket on it please mean squating bro.

Classic crack up.

Intense amount of reps with an intense amount of weight. Did that hurt rolling it on your neck? haha

lol thanks guys and gals. Didnt hurt at all dumping the weight SuaS, you're right PD, you have to dig deep to get the last reps. When you're not used to high reps you feel like giving up after you get to about 12, but you just keep talking yourself into doing one more, then one more.

So Tonight was Chest day. Was feeling pretty fatigued from last nights leg train so had scoop and a half mesomorph to pick me up.

Warmed up on flat bench up to 2pps.

First Working set was 140, did 10 good reps. Second set was 8, then 3rd set was 8 again.

Dropped the weight to 120kg and after about a 3 min rest I tried to do as many reps as poss. Hands were a bit sweaty so my arms kept slipping further and further out but still managed 18 before failing to lockout the 19th.

So that is the benchmark I have set Harry and whoever else wants to have a crack at it. Max reps at 120kg. I did 18, shouldn't be to hard to top. Might have another go next week completely fresh.

Anyways after that set went back up to 140kg, did 6, dropset to 100kg did 10, dropset to 60kg and repped out 20. My elbows and forearms weren't liking it at all and were starting to ache really bad.

I moved onto Incline DB press, did a warmup set of 12 w the 50kg DBs and my elbows were in agony by the end. Tried to do another set with the 50s and my elbow felt like it was going to rip off so I just dumped the weight.

Attempted incline flies w 25kg DBs but it was obvious my elbows werent gonna have it so I flagged them

Thought I'd do a couple of sets on incline chest press machine. Did 2pps for 12/10 before elbows called time on the whole session.

Finished with 20 min incline walk on treadmill. 2 x Nurafen and Voltaren emulgel on forearms and elbows. Im thinking it may be a carry over from the heavy 1RM paused benches last night. Some days it just not your day.

Yeah the 1RM paused benches gave me a bit of grief in the elbows the night before last, plus doing high reps didn't help my cause.

Either that or Im just soft

Is elbow tendonitis something you get on the regular?

Must be a pain in the ass to have

Hope its not tendinitis or tennis elbow. What do you have Hazza? Do you wear Elbow sleeves?

Yesterday was back and biceps.

Intensity was only 7/10, feeling pretty fatigued at the mo, possibly overtraining.

Started with Deadlifts. 1st working set was 8 x 220kg

Did a single at 240, forearm twinge so dropped back to 220kg. Did another set of 5 at 220

Seated Cable rows

5 sets @ 230lb of 12/12/12/12/18 + DS of 21 @ 120lb

Widegrip pulldowns

10 @ 130kg

12 @ 120kg

12 @ 120kg

12 @ 120kg

Back extensions - 2 sets of 12 @ full stack

Preacher Curl machine

Did 6 sets of 12 w 150lb's

Treadmill - 15 mins at full incline 5km/h walk

Rower - 10 mins HIIT

Done. Will be back in NZ next week, the Gold Coast has been preparing me for it by putting on a cold snap. Dropped down to 8' last night. Brrrrr

Hope you're gonna be up for a few more sessions TonganTerror

I wear elbow sleeves once I am warmed up and when I am doing my heavier sets. It's just wear and tear, elbow tendonitis. Comes and goes. I avoid skull crushers and those kind of really taxing on the elbow joint movements. Only do heavy triceps once in a blue moon, it's a shame cos I love doing tris!

I get it too...comes and goes but mostly comes when i ease up on the maintainence prehab

Try doing a few hundred pressdowns with a light band (mini - purple or red usually)Do them all in one go...eg when the burn comes on and you cant go stop rest then go on again..it helps heaps

Just starting deep tissue massage this week on my forearms and tris. have been stretching regular and wrapping the lat week or so - injured two weeks ago on heavy bench. Tendonitis is the pitts - I doubt I could do more than 15 reps at 120 without serious pain - good effort though SG. Looking nice and thick.

  • 3 weeks later...

Back in NZ now. Second day back I got rearended by a guy doing 80kmh (I was still doing about 20). Sore back and whiplash Put a dampener on training for a couple of weeks.

Been training hard again last week or so. Been doing real isolation exercises for once, real bodybuilding training lol. Sore for ages after which is kind of nice. Still throwing around the odd big weight every now and again, squatted 270 for a triple last night just cos I felt like it lol.

Diet has been pretty strict though and leaning up again nicely. Might have to pop a progress pic up soon.

Realisticly trying to dial in for the Waikato IFBB show, then the nats but Looking at maybe doing Nabba Auckland In 8 weeks time and maybe even the Auckland novice powerlifting comp in 3 weeks. See how I feel.

Back and neck were sore for about a week but all good now thanks PnW!

Had a squat session with Big Daniel last night and unleashed the beast in the squat rack. Trained at Scott Parsons gym, Kudos, genuine powerlifting gym, awesome lifting atmosphere. Will definately be back up there in the future.

Warmed up with

60kg x 12

140kg x 12

245kg x 3

Then went 270kg x 3

Loaded up 295 for a big single but had to bail out a couple of inches off the bottom, didn't have it :shifty:

Max reps w 225kg was next. I managed 14 reps.

Then finished on 235kg x 10 reps

Legs feeling Jelly today already. Actually I think the best calf exercise around is heavy barbell walkouts, calves feeling tight as!

Thanks guys! But let's not get too carried away, the PL comp is still a maybe at this stage, got a couple of other things happening the same weekend which may prevent me from being in Auckland.

Did back last night after a 13 hr work day. Felt pretty fatigued ESP after squats the night before.

Warmed up with 3 sets of 12 widegrip pullups.

Then got into deadlifts.

Bar x 12

100kg x 12

180kg x 8

225kg x 5

240kg x 1

265kg x 0

230kg x 8

200kg x 10

Never got my groove going and the hexagonal plates at Flex gym where I train now don't allow me to roll the bar at all making it more difficult than normal.

Moved onto T bar rows. Did 4 sets of 12 w 40kg,60kg,80kg,100kg squeezing and pausing at the top.

Seated rows next. 3 sets of 12/12/18 w full stack

Seated Widegrip pulldowns

3 sets of 12 w full stack

Finished on a set of 12 DB rows on each side w the 100lb dbs.

Pretty average train but got through it.

I am not following a set diet at the mo, just hitting my daily macros. Am running 6 days low carb 1 day high carb at the mo.

Macros are about 400P 150C 60F on low carb days and around 350P 400C 100F on high Carb days

Eating alot of Chicken breast, Cottage cheese, Rump steak and fish at the moment. Thank god Fish is alot cheaper back here in Nz than it is in Aussie!

I was sick of paying $AUS40/kg for decent fish. Come at me $NZ17.99/kg tarahiki \:D/

Carb sources are Kumara, Potato, rice crackers and brown rice.

Fats are from cooking oil and nuts, mainly brazil nuts.

Eating alot of greens with most meals too.
