Thanks Train Hard! The intention of entering the comp was purely the experience and fun of it and I definately achieved both. Pics are coming soon, hopefully turn up early this week and I'll throw them up. Goals are definately still focused on bodybuilding titles but I'd like to hit a

Couple of training PBs on the way ;). Ps your training is going solid man. When are you next jumping on stage?

Squat day with the big boys tonight. Had a big lunch of whole chicken and extra large peri chips at nandos to give me energy. Kept carbing up during the day on rice crackers and peanut butter.

Got Big Dan to critique my form and increase my lifts. We dropped the bar right back on my traps, moved my feet out about a foot each side and put my hands right out so they were almost touching the plates. Also adjusted my balance so I was putting all my weight on the heels of my feet when coming down and when I was blasting up I was to put more emphasis on my knees coming in and hips thrusting forward thereby using alot more hammie and glute as opposed to just using my quads like a normally do.

Warmed up and did a few sets @ 150 and 200kg.

Then moved up to 240kg, set a bunch of phone books at just below parallel. Put on some wraps and unracked the bar. Got 3 reps without to much drama. Was a little bit of a problem trying to hit the depth, just kept sinking until I hit the phone books then exploded back up but the wraps weren't making it easy to hit depth. Was managing just below parallel it but wouldn't have been able to go much deeper, the wraps felt to restricting.

After a breather we loaded another plate aside and a PB of 280kg was set.

Had a little bit of trouble unracking and walking out the bar, it was freaking heavy lol. Grunted a couple of times then squatted down. The wraps were on freaking tight this time and I got down as low as I could but didn't quite touch the phone book. Exploded back up without to much drama. Wasn't going to let the wraps beat me without another try, so I sank back down again, ahhhhh couldn't quite get there! Even paused for a half second down the bottom while I tried to get deeper but to no avail. Pushed back up and racked the weight. So I squatted 280kg for 2 tonight but I can't claim it cos I was about an inch or two max off parallel according to the 4 spotters who were training with me. I guess I'm gonna have to practise squatting in wraps more to get used to it. I'm sure I can't be too far off the 300 once I get that sorted :)

Interesting that they got you to put your hands out wider? I usually get PL's to put their hands quite close in, push their elbows forward to "lock" the bar into that low trap position, the elbows forward keeps your chest up and head upright. Bit of work getting into that position but feels very very stable when you do.

Once you get used to wraps and the new form you'll hit that 300.

Bro I rushed out and bought that same outfit but damn it, I don't look anything like you lol...

Warriors shorts. Half price sale at the moment and still not selling! Hahaha

Buy when low, sell when high. Stocks will rise...

Not for some time by the way we are playing at the moment :(

Harry, I am playing around with hand placement. It's a unique approach that the boys at the big dans gym use, putting the hands wide, it puffs your chest and lats out a bit and gives you a bit more width apparently. I didn't like it much so I think I'll bring my hands back in a tad.

Didn't put wraps on myself PD, they are always put on by Dans dad, who has been doing them for years. But he does them too tight for me, apparently I'm a big pussy and should go back to my tanning bed hahaha. The wide feet placement is all part of power lifting squat. If I'm going to hit 300-320 I have to start squatting like a powerlifter. To be honest Im still not as wide as some of the other guys. I just think I need a bit more practise, and looser wraps and will be hitting depth easily.

BTW, just found out that the guy who won my class at the bb show last weekend, Jason, went on to win the IFBB Australasian title this weekend just been. So he's off to India to contest the worlds. Definately was a classy lineup then! Fingers crossed that will be me one day :shifty:

Nice work bro

Tighter the better when it comes to wraps, gives more pop off the bottom. Wider squat is good, more stable, try opening your groin up- push your knees out on the way down. When you get it right youll know because you'll hit depth easy as. Maybe drop down a little faster? the extra speed will be able to help break past the wraps, and in turn give you a little more pop. 300 is a freaking awesome squat cant wait to see you smash it

Actually really good advice TT. I think I need to drop with a bit of speed instead of going down slow and controlled. Will pop past parallel and the wraps will help me snap back up. Makes sense, Thanks for that!

Will def video, will try for the 280 again next Monday, and maybe even 290 if I get it.
