350 is the new 300 now bro... Like I said in my journal 300 DL doesn't seem that epic/special anymore lol

Yip standards have been raised, it's funny when u have a dream number you want to hit, then you hit it, it seems weak and you just want more, that's why I faaarkin love powerlifting, it endless

i remember on here being mind=blown when big john deadlifted 300, now thats almost like the standard

I look at the weights you garage guys are doing with amazement. I finally read your first page, ok I'm nearly at that level - so four years plus behind you guys.

 

haha cheers mate, its great to lift with a awesome group of guy all pushing eash other, you cant beat it!! keep pushing hard you might not be that far behind, long as the consistence is there the gains will come

tonight - squat

no real plan just wanted to work in some volume with loading to much weight, while keeping nice fast and clean reps, build to 190 naked (no supportive gear) then added wraps and did 3x3x200 and 2x3x212, not too bad, still dropping i  slower than i like due to fear of kneee failure, its almost like mental block!! but comp day it will be game on!! the main thing is to make it there in one piece 

bench - comp singles to 145, backs off 3x130, 10x110, 3x15x70 - comp/med/cg 

feeling heavy than it should, good sign to drop the heavy stuff now 

elbow save circuit - bands - curls - bands 3x15

not to long now!! will hit pulls tomorrow, speed work and maybe a heavy 1 or 2, yeoooow!

dead/bench - 1 week to go!

just looked to get in some sets at speed tonight, added a few heavier ones to end

pulls - 2x200 - 6 sets on 30-45sec

single 230/245 - around planned opener - felt slower than they should of tonight, so its telling me its time for a light week, which is perfect 1 week out, been a pretty consistence few months of deads so expecting a good PR

bench - 3x110 - 6 sets - 15-30 sec

paused reps 130x1, 140x4 - fuuk! it was finally on to hit 5 paued reps at 140 then on the 5th i miss grovved the kunt few inches lower on chest, didnt even bother to try and press it for fear of snap city so just took a pinning!! 

hi-bar squats 4x12x60 - flushing out knee, been hitting heaps of massage on it of late trying to break up the build up of scar tissue, seems to be helping abit, may hit so squats tomorrow for a last hit out in the mono

had the sunday session with the boys today, was bench battles so hit a few again -

top set 140x3 paused

squats 2x210

nothing major, bloody good fun, few good pinnings, 1 or to sessions to go, just some light stuff, maybe squat on tues to openerish

last chance gainns...took some singles on all lifts upto around last warm ups, felt goood! 240/130/220, that will do it now till game day, not the build up i was hoping for/planned, with only 1 weeks were the knee came good, how ever pr's are on the cards with out a dout, which in away is a good thing as i know there are still many many gains still to be had with out changing to much or resorting to the pressures of under ground supplementation, bws been sitting around 101 on average, so easy run into make the u100kg class and can eat up rest of week and really recover well, pretty pumped gunna be fukkin siiik!! GAME ON

What's the goal total for this Comp bro?

early 700s would be nice, 285-290/160/272.5 somthing like that at best case, nothing great esp when theres 3 guys in my class looking at 900 - 1000kg lol just makin up numbers, but its gunna be an epic 4 days with some solid learrin up yeoow!

comp wrap - GPA worlds/Sydney

 

Left 330am friday morning was 100.5 then so decided id hold off much eating and water to weigh-in just to make sure, made it to Olympic park 3 trains a a good walk later dripping with sweat in 46degs and scaled in at 98, check out venue and watched nz's strongest again dominating some iron, was an epic set up, to double platforms and 100s of people going nuts! bailed at 3 to find old lady who was at a hotel 20 odd mins drive away, then  the fun started, phone died mid finding her, didnt have full address, 3 odd hours later, 3 trains, few buses and about a 4km walk in crazy heat carrying 3 decent sized bags i found her, i was raging!! my jandles wore out, blister pumping, at one stage i just lay on the road side under a tree lol, then to top it off place was a dump!! anyway woke pretty amped up, although my back was that pumped up i couldnt tie my own shoe laces, got a massage and was onnnn!

 

Game day: BW:98.2kg/raw w/wraps/natty 

 

squat - watching the day earlier, put a little bit of fair in as there was a stack of red lights for depth calls with squats that wernt looking to bad, so took a safer approach, and to bank the numbers, as quickly it became apparent, this was not your standard comp, with a real chance of medals on the line, with only 2 big guns in our class, duffin who went 907 and sam byde, who wasnt to far behind, leaving me and some aussie dudes to scrap for the bronze.  

Stuck to the planned opener of 260, nailed it nice and fast, took a while to get set as we used a 25kg massive thick grippy squat bar, was epic! sat back down and watch duffin, byde and closest aussie dude all miss 1st lifts on depth, was i goin to win? lol was 15kgs up so opted to play safe and bank 275 for 2nd, took it nice and deep little grind but never in doubt, 3 whites, the big dudes all got 2nds apart from guys behind so just looked to take a small pr of 282.5 on 3rd, dropped in and out nice and fast but hoffed (dave) way to high, knew it straight away didnt need to look at the board!! was gutted! so easy but such a waste!! and 1st time in 15 odd comps i failed on depth  :oops:   on the plus side knee held out, only slight discomfit last 2 squats

 

bench - just stuck to plan, 145 nice and easy, then 152.5 on 2nd for a 2.5kg comp pr, little harder than expected not helped by some crazy lat cramps setting i, went for 157.5 on 3rd which should of been not a problem, however just could push thought the last few inchs!! so close but so far!! 

 

pulls - was 37.5kgs up sitting in bronze spot, but other dude was opening on 280 to my 245, how ever we were warming up together and could tell straight away he was dreaming, sure enough he dropped opener to 260, after he struggled on a 250 in warm ups, i knew i had him beat, pull my opener nice and quick, as did he, so i went all out and took a 20kg jump to seal the deal, 265 for 2.5kg comp pr, was pretty tough, took an age to leave the deck and almost lost grip at lock out, to be fair i thought red light were coming out but got 3 whites (reffing was funny as so strict on squats/bench then they passed some real shit pulls) other dude had 280 glued to floors so i had bronze in the bag, so just went for 270 as tank was dry, no chance, pulled the crap out of it but kunt was glued to the floor! but job had been done, i was stoked!! got to stand up there with 2 legends of the game, number 1 and 2 in the u100 all time biggest squats, great buzz!

 

went out for a crazy antics that night.... B)  all in all epic to be apart of, so many units, these guys are all so thick and dence of muscle its mind blowing, we all looked kids next them, sunday night we hung arounf late and sat around with brendon lilly who told us some loose stories about westside barbell and his falling out, and the key to bulking...smoking heaps of weed to get the appetite firing, dave hoff was the master of this he said (true story) also how to make bacon gravy lol, any way bloody great times with some pretty good results from all the NZ lifters

 

but seriouly they need to make powerlifting not so spread out apart form there been 672 feds, there are way to many classes, 2-3 teens, jr's, opens, sub masters, then about 7 other master classes, then 20 different weight classes, also this fed has both raw with wraps and raw with none, just madness!! there was over 3/4 off people been the other person in there classs! im just glad i had a few to battle with, should just be like pro raw, u80s, u95s, u110, 110+ all open, how good would that be? any way time to get back to work, gotta make some serious gains, this is beginning to be a joke not crossing the 700!!

Would have been wicked just to meet Brandon and I think id better start smoking some weed in the garage if thats the secret. Watching your vid with all the 300s makes me wanna push that bit harder to get a 300 myself. Oneday.

Love how I outbenched the Red Machine haha. Still got me on the deadlift and total though. Looking forward to the vids, should be good to see my camera work lol.

tonight - took an extra day off work as just feeling shattered, ended up hitting some bench to feel alive again -

 

work sets - 

10x100 - 5 sets, 120x3, 130x1, 15x100 - 3 set

 

that was it, rest of the year just gunna have fun with it and try and cut abit of fat off, although i really need to add some decent size to the upper body, will pretty much ditch any supportive gear, ie belts/wraps and just build foundations again, just putting on for some heavy ones every 3-4 weeks. gunna really push hard, next year 300 squat has to go down!!! (and come back up)

first night dropping out belt and wrap, as comps are now done i feel this is a huge weakness, and the stronger you are with out the stronger you will be with, so time to suck lemons drop and weight and start again, wont really put a plan together just build upto something then hit some back off sets, to make matters even better iv seem to have lost my healed squat shoes in Sydney so will just use flats for now, which i fukin hate

squat - mods made - feet 2inch each out each side, grip moved in, flat shoe, slower controlled decent, no wraps/belt, extra few inch depth = fukin hard, its feels like a hole new movement, but in the flat shoe i cant keep feet close as norm, so for his block im going to squat like this and see how we go, looks more like your normal powerlifting squat, its good change but very humbling, 200 is pretty much ball out at current, go thing is no knee pain, with the wider stance it cut down the knee travel so that's a bonus, will run a 5-6 week block and aim for 220-230, will feel like magic again when i add the support wears back in!!

squat/bench(heavy day) - 

 

bench -4x60,80,100,120,130 - was not feeling on bench tonight., plan was to have a crack at the elusive 5x140paused iv been huning, but by 130 i could tell not today, so chucked a mini band around elbows(works like half assed slingshot) and got in some good over load volume -

 

with band - 5x5x140, 3x150, 1x160, 6x140

 

squats - only made it to 140, joints really felt sore, so canned them there after 6sets of 3, need to get some knee sleeves, 

 

cg bench - 3x100,110,120, 4x130

 

hi-squats - 10x60, 3sets, love how they felt on body, much more cumfy than low bar so ended up building upto a single at 180,body stays so much more upright and no pressure though elbows and delts, would love to squat hi-bar all the time, but would kill my numbers, unfortunately

 

then finish off blasting tri;s for about 5mins over with bands, skulls, jm's and spoto presses, mad pump, solid growth

alllright back on the grind, had a good 3 days rest to get fully ready to go again, as missus and daughter have now gone on a 5 week holiday to Israel and Germany, leaving me and my boys(3) the chance to get in some serious gains, so really going to pump it over this time.

 

so as stated before re-building the squat with out wraps with wider stance and flat shoes(as i left others in Sydney) plan - going to work off % again just to build consistency again, i prefer to work on fee,l but its like starting again so want to really banks some serious volume under the belt first, going to run first 3 weeks of a old Russian prog i used before squatting 3x a week, for 6 working sets with reps changing each session finishing on 6x6 i will use around 75%ish/190kgs for the next 3 weeks, game on! will also run this for bench but will also be hitting a ton of other bench stuff along the way and will hammer some form of pull or pull assist on the reps/max/speed rotation one/twice a week maybe to much for the un-enhanced lifter but i feel the body is pretty well conditioned and ready to roll, if in 3 weeks we start falling apart i will reassess the situation.

 

pretty boring stuff from the out side but i faarkin!

great start, actually starting to enjoy the flats, have decided to add old belt back in on working sets, i feel as when i dont wear it i change the whole dynamic of the squat and i really want to keep this block comp style squats or as close to, bench feeling great, bring on some farrking PR's!

week 1 day 2 - squat/bench

 

squat - 190x3 - 6 sets

paused bench - 132x3 - 6 sets

2sec dead hang chins - 50 reps sets of 6-10s, until 50 reached

 

big day in the sun today backs sunburn to faarkk then add bailing off a ladder shredding up leg and running around the park kicking the pig skin for an hour made weights feeling pretty heavy but moved ok, joints abit sore ajusting to the increase volume just take awhile to get warm, feels good though yeoooow!

pause bench - 132x2 - 6 sets

 

went with a very slow controlled decent on squats tonight as body is sore and shit it felt bloody great!! really fell powerful this way as you just muss it up as apose to getting abit of bounce out of the hole, bench is feeling really good at mo, there is talk about a 140 rep comp this sunday so it might finally be my chance to hit 5+, how ever saturday night will be loose so performance may be hampered!!
