Hi Hales,

decide on where you want to operate your PT business (i.e which gym/ home based) If gym based go talk to the person in charge of hiring PTs and see what they recommend. Choose a gym that has a good external marketing campaign and regularly advertises, they are responsible for bringing new business into the club, and that means new clients to you.

The key thing about being a PT is where are you going to get your clients from and do you have a point of difference to most of the other PT's in your area.

I PT at Les Mills Auck City where we had up to 90 PTs there at one stage (before the recession). Ive been PT'ing since1993.

Competing in a chosen field (triathlon, bodybuilding etc), or specializing in Olympic lifting or kettle bell training, or boxing training or small group training will all be points of difference that can help you attract good clients.

Good luck
