:naughty: . although i have to admit Queensland played a lot better than NSW! the scoreline didn't really reflect their dominance. Bring on game 2 though!! :)

which NRL team do you support drizzt?

Yeah, NSW will need to shut down Thurston if they're to have any chance, he is on fire. Trouble is, you concentrate on him and then you have GI and Lockyer to watch out for... Other side of the coin though, if NSW can get Hayne running with confidence that can change a game! Next one should be interesting...

I'm a Warriors fan at heart, but have supported the Broncos since before the Warriors came onto the scene  How about yourself?

yeah to be honest I can't see NSW winning a game. I don't really have strong ties to either side I just like watching a good game of footy :D

yeah, likewise, I'm a Warriors fan. Wish they'd be a bit more consistent but if the likes of Seymour and Vatuvei stay healthy they should make the top 8. Would be nice to get a few playoff games over here in NZ but I doubt very much that that's going to happen this year!

27/05/10 Heavy Back

another quick session tonight.. got talking to a few people. It's amazing how quickly a gym session can turn into a social session! lifts felt pretty good tonight

Deadlifts 5x5 120 kg

*deads felt good tonight, although still feel as if I'm not getting into enough of a squatting position at the bottom of the movement, which is meaning my back is not completely straight. will have to try and sort this out

Lat Pulldown 12x6 54 kg

*focused especially on technique, trying to isolate the lats as much as possible. for some reason I've noticed that my lats are lagging a bit compared to my upper back

Low Cable Row 12x5 36 kg

*again, focused particularly on technique. almost everyone at my gym seems to do this exercise wrong :-s

Reverse Pulldown 12x5 48 kg

Preacher Curl 12x5 47 kg

*finished off with a few sets of bi's. By this stage they were already fried so didn't lift heavy

Eats

Not bad today, although once again only managed to get two weetbix down for brekkie. had 6 eggs at 10 am though. just about to fetch myself a can of tuna \:D/

heavy shoulders & light legs tomorrow, should be a good sesh

28/05/10 Heavy Shoulders & Calves

took me a good hour or so to get thru shoulders tonight, so only spent 10 mins on calves at the end

started off with a bit of rotator cuff rehab, then :

Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Press 8x3 32.5kg Dumbbells

*felt good tonight, although down from 35kg dumbbells last week. This is definitely one of my strongest lifts :D

Standing Overhead Press 5x5 55kg PB

*this is like the fourth PB I've reached in the last week so something must be going right :) going to be hard to match four PB's next week!

Smith Machine Military Press (Behind Head) 10x4 55kg

*definitely one of my favourite exercises, although I find that it puts a lot of stress on my rotator cuffs so I generally stick within a lightish weight range

Cable Front & Side Raise 12x5 15kg

*shoulders already friiiied by this point, so took it pretty easy

finished off with some calves:

Seated Calf Raises 20x6 whole stack

Eats

eats have been average. ran outa milk this morning so I;'ve only drunk one glass today which is pretty unusual for me! ate a whole pizza for dinner (meat lovers) =P~

no beef toady :( , but I can't exactly control what's on the menu when it's not me who's paying the grocery bill!

I'm stuck with a family who are semi-vegetarian and can't understand why I need so much meat.. drives me crazy!!!!!

I do wonder how I'm going to survive financially when I leave home though, I must say.

heavy tris and light chest tomorrow \:D/

29/05/10 Heavy Triceps & Light Chest

so kept my workout pretty short

Skullcrushers 12x5 40kg PB

*fifth PB in the last two weeks :)

Rope Pushdown 12x6 42kg

Weighted Dips 8x6 10kg (plus body weight)

finished off with some light chest:

Bench Press 20x5 60kg

*10 secs each rep, so each set was close to 4 mins

Heavy Biceps and Deadlifts tomorrow, should be good! preacher curl here I come

haven't had the chance to post for a while as I've been flat out with exam stuff, but workouts have been going really well. will start posting again in a couple of days and may even upload some pics :D (i regret not taking a "before" pic when i started a few years back!)

accomplished a new PB in deadlifts last night, managed to lift 150 [5 reps].

2/06/10 Heavy Shoulders & Light Legs

started off with some low rep shoulder stuff:

Standing Overhead Press 5x5 57.5kg PB

*felt really strong with this particular exercise tonight. improved by a whopping 7.5kg since last week's bash :D

Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Press 5x5 36kg dumbells

*not bad tonight, had to really put a bit of grunt into the last couple sets but was well worth it

Military Press Behind Head [smith Machine] 5x5 55kg

Front & Side Raise [superset] 12x5 15kg

then moved onto a couple sets of legs

Squats 12x5 70kg

*ass to grass

Seated Calf Raises

*i find seated calf raises to be so much more effective than standing ones.

weight was 103.8 tonight, which is also up on last week :) . I may look to cut down in the summer as I'm starting to get a bit of a pot!

went shopping today and bought a shitload of tuna

bit of heavy tris and a few light sets of chest tomorrow \:D/

05/06/10 5x5 Compound Lifts

I've been missing a lot of my training sessions lately so decided to do compound lifts today to target everything :D

I will be taking a well earned month off training, starting in a couple weeks as I'm going overseas. It's been over a year since I've taken more than a couple weeks off training at once so it'll be interesting to see how much progress I lose :shifty:

current stats as of today:

Weight: 104.8kg

BF: it's a guesstimate, but I'd say around 14-15%

PB's

Bench: 95kg (5 Reps)

Deads: 145kg (5 Reps)

Squat: 125kg (5 Reps)

Standing Overhead Press: 57.5kg (5 Reps)

All PB's have been reached in the last month which I;m pretty stoked about :D

started off with:

Deads

110kg x5

120kg x5

130kg x5

145kg x5

*still finding my grip strength is lagging. I'm still relatively new to deadlifts, and finding that adjusting my grip to one hand over and the other under is helping the grip a bit :)

Squats

90kg x5

105kg x5

105kg x5

115kg x5

*squats weren't 100% tonight, no idea why

Bench

70kg x10

80kg x5

90kg x5

90kg x5

90kg x5

*been stuck on 90 kilo bench for so long, probably 4 months now. it's not that my chest is lagging at all, it just seems to be a weakpoint. I;m not going to use the "long arms" excuse because I know I ought to find out the problem

Standing OHP

45kg x5

50kg x5

50kg x5

55kg x5

will probably take the day off tomorrow and then start into my normal training programme on Sunday.

Eats

not too bad today, pushing 3200 cals which is where I want to be.

will post on monday \:D/

07/06/10 The Quickest Workout Ever

got tied up with a few things earlier in the day then realised the gym closed at 4 :o

got there with 30 mins left til close, so just did some calves today :D

Weight: 104.6kg

*not quite sure whether I want to keep gaining weight.. I've sort of been in a bulking phase ever since I started training, putting on 45kg in 3 years. have started putting on a bit of fat recently though so may consider cutting in the near future :D

much to my dismay the standing calf raise was broken, due to some idiot adding extra 20kg plates on top of the machine.

seated calf raises 8x20 whole stack

dumbbell standing calf rasies 5x20 30kg dumbbells

*end of workout

first time I've ever worked out without breaking into a sweat

Eats

had 7 whole eggs for brekkie this morning, plus 14 weetbix

tomoro will be heavy chest \:D/

Workout Time: 1hr 15 mins

spend pretty much my whole chest workout on bench.

Bench Press

60kg x20

*warm up

80kg x5

85kg x5

90kg x5

90kg x5

95kg x5

100kg x2 (fail)

*still can't crack the hundy, despite months of being stuck on 95kg  . if anyone has some suggestions, that'd be great :D

70kg x10

70kg x10

Incline Press

75kg x5 PB

70kg x5

70kg x5

60kg x5x2

Floor Press

70kg x5

60kg x10x3

I would give heavy eccentrics a go IMO. I overload with a couple of extra 20s. Just make sure the person helping you with them knows what they're all about.

* how much rest is considered acceptable at the bottom of the movement?

* still need to get deeper at the bottom of the movement, not using my legs as much as I should be. Once I get that sorted I should be able to increase the weight :)

60 x5

30 x12 [Negatives- 7 secs on the eccentric phase]

squats and OHP felt real good tonight. First to a 90kg(200lb) 5RM which is about a 100kg 1RM I think. Get a vid of yourself next time you do OHP and I'll take one too then I can post them in a competition thread, I'm sure we can sort out an appropriate prize for the winner  Will prob take 4-5months I'm estimating.

been real slack with the journal lately

got an excuse though- exams. bloody hard tryin to combine study and training so i've been skipping the odd workout in favour of the books

once exams are finished i'm off overseas for three weeks but will get back into a solid cycle of training upon return. will miss the weights while i'm away, thats for sure. i'm really hoping i don't lose a lot of the progress i;ve been making by taking three weeks off :?

funnily enough, had a real good session tonight, maybe a couple days off is what i've been needing! or maybe the study's had a positive effect on my training :shifty:

accomplished a PB in bench press, which is a HUGE success since i'd been stuck on the same weight for months!

started off with

Bench Press

90kg x5
