Beef, Beef and more Beef

Beef

Recommended Posts

hey fellow BBers :)

I've been looking at this site for a few months now, so thought i'd finally join so I can give my 2 cents from time to time. you've probably figured out by now that i like eating beef- lots of it. in fact, i eat so much beef that i'm starting to look like a cow.. you are what you eat, as they say! :D

I drink so much milk that I'm sure I'll start lactating some day

anyway thought i'd start a workout journal, would be great to get the odd comment or two. I'd like to think i know a thing or two about bodybuilding, but there's always more to learn!

Stats

Age: 18

Height: 190cm

Weight: 104 kilos

BF: Never been measured, but I'm relatively lean (I'd like to think  )

Bench (5 Reps): 95 kilos

Deadlift (5 Reps): 130 kilos

Squat (5 Reps): 110 kilos

Been training pretty solidly for 3 years or so, was a skinny 60kg at age 15 when I started pumping iron. Try to mix up my rep range.

Goals By End of 2010

Weight: 110 kilos

Bench: 110 kilos (would like to be able to bench my bodyweight! used to be able to, but have plateaued in that 95-100 weight bracket)

Deadlift: 160 kilos

Squat: 130 kilos

Current Training Routine

Currently doing a 6 day split. I know you're probably thinking, "not one of these idiots doing a single bodypart per workout". actually it's more like a 3 day split, repeated twice per week. I alternate between a heavy, "low rep range" day and a light, "high rep range" day. My training looks something like this:

Day 1- Heavy Chest and Light Triceps

Day 2- Heavy Back and Light Biceps

Day 3- Heavy Shoulders and Light Legs

Day 4- Light Chest and Heavy Triceps

Day 5- Light Back and Heavy Biceps

Day 6- Light Shoulders and Heavy Legs

Day 7- a well earned rest day :)

Training is never longer than an hour, try to keep it pretty intense.

Diet

my sources of protein include eggs, fish, milk, chicken and BEEF!

i'm not big on supplements. prefer to eat au natural

a typical day might look like this:

M1- 6 whole eggs, 10 weetbix w/ milk

M2- 1 can chopchop chicken, 2 cups brown rice

M3- rump steak, 2 cups brown rice

M4- steak, 2 cups brown rice

M5- salmon, 2 cups brown rice

- totals up to about 200g protein, 3500 cals

cheers for reading :D

going by your standard diet, for someone that eats alot of beef, you don't eat much beef :pfft:

but welcome to the site!

have you tried using protein shakes? i find them to be an easy and convenient protein source after an intense workout. and watch how many eggs you eat as despite high protein levels they also have high saturated fat so be good as they may, six may be a few too many, in MO anyway

haha. depends how much beef i can get my hands on these days with a limited budget but i try my best!

re protein shakes- been there, done that. find food a much tastier and satisfying way of getting protein. it's convenient enough cracking open a can of chicken post-workout.

23/05/10 Light Back, Heavy Bi's

just a light back session today, with a few heavy bicep exercises at the end. Bi's were a bit rusty today as I haven't trained them in a couple weeks but Back felt good.

Lat Pulldown (Reverse Grip) 12[reps] x 5[sets] 54kg

Low Cable Row 12x5 36kg *focusing more on form than weight lifted. the number of people that do this exercise wrong is astonishing

Barbell Shrugs 14x3 60kg

Preacher Curl 8x5 57kg

Barbell Curls 8x3 (with Drop Sets) 35kg

Hammer Curls 8x4 (with Drop Sets) 15 kg (dumbbells)

Eats

-eats have been pretty solid today, only 2 weetbix and 3 whole eggs for brekkie this morning as I was still full from a 1AM feed. May have to stop eating at night as it's affecting my ability to eat a solid breakfast! Looking at about 3000 cals today.

Bring on Heavy Legs tomorrow! \:D/

24/05/10 Heavy Legs and Light Shoulders

intense leg workout tonight, might need some crutches tomorrow! leg DOMS are brutal

just a 45 min sesh tonight as I wanted to get back in time to watch the all whites smash the aussies

got a PB in squats tonight which i'm pretty stoked about. Only started squatting at the start of this year, so pretty happy with the progress i'm making at this stage.

did calf raises in bare feet today (much to the dismay of the fitness instructor :shifty: ), i find it helps with the squeeze at the top of the movement

Squats 5x5 120kg PB

*only 10 kilos more and I've reached my squatting goals for 2010.. may need to change this!

*squats felt real good today, ass to grass

Leg Press 8x3 220kg

*legs already fried from squats, but endured the pain

Leg Raises 8x4 52kg (Drop Sets)

*hold for 2 secs at top of movement

Hammy Curls 8x4 100kg PB

*hammys are probably my weakest muscle but they felt good today. still a bit tender from Friday's deadlifts

Seated & Standing Calf Raises 12x6 each whole stack

*did without shoes

Rotator Cuff Internal & External

*had a rotator cuff-related injury last year, so making sure I fit this in every week.

Eats

-nothing out of the ordinary today- 7 whole eggs, 200g rump steak, 1.5L milk, and a can of salmon, plus 6 cups of brown rice & 10 weetbix :D

a well-earned rest for me tomorrow \:D/ , will try catch up on some study as my uni exams start next week  , oh the joys of being a uni student!!

26/05/10 Heavy Chest & Light Triceps

just a quick workout tonight, wanted to get back in time to watch State of Origin  go NSW!!!!!

chest felt pretty good today, spent 30+ mins on bench press, then rapped it up with a bit of incline and floor press. Used to do flys but don't particular like them

just a couple of light sets of triceps to finish up my workout. I find that I only need to do a couple of sets of triceps after a heavy chest sesh :D

may post up some pics later

Bench Press

- 5x5 95kg

-10x3 70kg

- 10x5 [negative sets *5secs down, 2 secs up] 45kg

-10x3 40kg

*usually most of my chest sesh is focused around bench press, so this was just a typical workout :D

* on last 3 sets got someone to push downwards to provide extra resistance

Incline Press

-5x5 75kg

Floor Press

-5x5 80kg PB

-10x2 45kg

*chest was friiiiiiiiied by now, moved onto a quick coupla sets of tris

Rope Pushdown

-12x3 38kg

total workout time: 1 hr 15 mins

weight: 102.5kg- have lost 2 kilos since last wednesday.. not good! :(

Eats

Eats have been pretty good so far today. 5 litres of H20 so far, 1L milk

Struggled to get brekkie down this morning again though. Does anyone else find that if they eat in the evening they aren't hungry for breakfast? should I be dropping the late night meal if I can't get breakfast down?

heavy back tomoro, can't wait for deadlifts! \:D/

yeah that's the key! I usually end up just having a couple weetbix when I first wake up and then have a proper feed a couple hours later :D

Maroons! :haha: :)

:naughty: . although i have to admit Queensland played a lot better than NSW! the scoreline didn't really reflect their dominance. Bring on game 2 though!! :)

which NRL team do you support drizzt?

Yeah, NSW will need to shut down Thurston if they're to have any chance, he is on fire. Trouble is, you concentrate on him and then you have GI and Lockyer to watch out for... Other side of the coin though, if NSW can get Hayne running with confidence that can change a game! Next one should be interesting...

I'm a Warriors fan at heart, but have supported the Broncos since before the Warriors came onto the scene  How about yourself?
