Recommended Posts

A few of us got together for a lift at Coast Barbell on Good Friday. It was good to meet PMan, Diana, Tinytraps and his mate Sam and good to lift with Startinfromscratch and Big John again both of whom have grown since we last got togther 8) In a flurry of sheiko, wendlers and steak-a-size where we all stuck to our numbers it was Big John who unleashed his fury on the deadlift platform yet again with another PB. Great fun, good peeps and there will be more to come..churr churr fellas..and missys.

nice meet up guys

big John good lifting!

how tall are you?

If you bring your grip in a bit on your deadlift you could have gotten 225kg. (use those long arms to your advantage)

he needs to use his legs more thats all.

From left Pman, SFS, Bigjohn, Steak, Sam, Tinytraps

Bigjohns technique is pretty good Dont need to wory bout using more legs just wasting his awesome leverage. Bring your grip in, start a lil closer to the bar and pull in chucks or toes those trainers suck up alota force! I would say those points alone will add 5-10kg to your dl without getting any stonger

new shoes=maybe 5 kgs?...what leverage are you talking about..using only his spinal errectors? pulling his hands to his knees isnt going to improve his leverage because his back is completely horizontal.

1.30-thats about as close(not completely) as you are going to get for the optimal setup for your body structure. you could perhaps start up a little higher and lean a little more over as he has a longer legs & shorter torso.

none the less you can see you didnt even pull anything like your setup suggests. you broke your back/entire setup before the bar ejected off the ground. spam the play key during 1.30-1.31 you almost use no legs. definately got a strong back, but be careful, we're only human.

Maybe it's hard to see if you aren't looking for it, but his hips were in position and fixed before the bar came off the ground. There wasn't any of that "hip shooting" that's the real rep-killer. As long as the hips and back are fixed in place before the bar breaks the floor, you're okay.
