I like the rage while dieting. Has allowed me to remember what a half decent pump is! Was getting nothing during the last 9 weeks, and although I know a pumps not essential it is always a good boost to motivation to feel skin stretching and veins popping (unsure if I've had that feeling anywhere else in last 9 weeks either LOL *biggrin* Not quite that bad yet!!).

Here's my back post training yesterday - no definition at all, I descibed it as fat as a sausage but you could land a 777 on it! But really just full on blood and lactic acid (and fat! *crazy* ).

Good pressing strength Nate Good

Your hand's on hips most muscluar looks good. Decided what federations your going to compete in?

Thanks Jimmy,

My pressing strength definitely dropped off since I ditched 10kg + in bodyweight! *bad* but hey I'm not a strength athlete atm.....at least that's what I tell myself to feel better about it! *i-m_so_happy*

Top of the South & Nationals for NABBA-WFF, but still undecided about what show to do in between these? Could do South Island Champs for NAC in Dunedin (Sept 7) or Wellington NAC (Sept 21) or NZIFBB Wellington (Sept 7) or Waikato (Sept 21).

once a strength athlete always a strength athlete bro *crazy*

strength still good doing 50kg like that when obviously depleted.  You running 1700cals this week??!! .... no easy feat training when you eat that far below your threshold.

@Jimmy - mirin your abs brah - you been working hard to Isee *shok* impressive

Thanks guys!

Amazing how much you appreciate words of support from peeps when you're dieting and training out of town 90% of the time (motel life / living out of suitcases).

Training going well - massive heavy back session on Monday before heading South again. Good high volume delts session yesterday, hoping to get back for a train in Akld tonight if flights work out.

Cardio was damn hard this morning...who would have thought walking could be that difficult *bad*. Catching up with my nutritionist in a week and hoping to be into single digits, then a five week ramp up down to the sub 6's #letsdothisshit!

Good leg session tonight.

Did some hammies with Teina O'malley and noticed he focused on time under tension, maybe with or without doing it consciously but worth considering.

Also caught up with a bunch of other soldiers on the competition battlefield, Kurt Dell, big n shredded Reubz, the ever aesthetic Andy A, and Garry Jones. Motivating stuff.

Been a pretty solid week of training and cardio - so nothing unusual! But only one more week of living out of suitcases in motels 3-5 days a week; be great with just over 5 weeks to my qualifier. Also looking forward to training with my crew in Auckland more often!

Awesome back session with my old TP on Monday, solid volume based Delts in Blenheim yesterday and a blinder of a leg session today - hugely appreciative of my old TP hanging around waiting for an hour cos I got bumped on flights.

Probably worth outlining the legs sess for anyone reading - definitely worth a try! Gym was crazy busy and couldn't get a squat rack or leg press initially so this is how we rolled:

2 high rep leg extensions as warm up

1-legged leg press on pin loading press - 3 sets to failure + couple of forcies

2 working sets squats to failure - 12 reps incl. a forcie or 2

DB lunges to failure - 2 sets high reps

Leg extensions - 3 drop sets

Leg curls - 4 sets to failure

Calves - 2 exercises.

SMASHED UP!!!

High reps for legs varies bro! And definitely fits hand in hand with volume!

Generally I say high reps and I mean anything over 10, and I'm usually doing 12-15's on legs and delts. However with legs I sometimes do 20+ reps or strip sets (on hacks we were hitting around 70 reps a set, but two set and one other exercise and we were crawling out of the gym).

As you may know in the off season I was aiming at 16-20 working sets per body part. Worked well.

Then after seeing Dorian Yates I tried hit HIT approach with perhaps 7-9 working set. Also worked great.

I now run a hybrid that seems to work for me. Initial 2 exercises tend to be heavy 2 sets to failure (though I know I did 3 on my first last night), then I tend to go to smaller/machine exercises for volume and often 10-15 reps or more if strip setting.

Either way I achieved what I needed to. .....I'm damn sore getting up at 4.50am for cardio lololol

Usually I'd agree Jimmy, but we'd planned it this way. I've just started crosstrainer instead of walking (as my HR was sitting about 78-82bpm only LOLOLOL). This week is the first time I've used decent fatburners too as we've been holding back til I needed them.

Hoping to see some radical changes! Keep ya posted.
