Counties Manukau Strongest man: After 4 of 8 events:

Nick 'Hammer' Hansen and myself (Jono) are tied with 17pts, Dale Shepherd has 15 and Sam Magele has 14. Not sure on other points. Danomyte is 5th and Ryan 'Hollywood' Hewitt is 6th. Small field, but still some of the best performances we've seen in a while.

Nick was VERY close on a 16'6 NZ rec in the 56lb weight for height and destroyed the tire flip in 38.x seconds.

I hit the 160kg/352lb log press record, with more to spare. Sam took 161 but missed the press.

Anvil, Hercules hold, axle and stones tomorrow. Nick would be favoured with those events, but still anyones game at this point. Everyone is enjoying themselves and it's been a fun, laid back show so far.

I'm picking Nick to win Anvil & Stones, Jono the Axle for reps, and between Sam & Dale to smash my NZ Record on the Hercules hold.

Day 2 update:

Hercules hold (117.5 per side) - Nick 1.02, Sam 0.58, Dale 41 (tore 4 callouses :shock: )

Anvil carry (160kg) - Nick 100m (and passed out :doh: ), Ryan 88m, Jono out with strained bicep (said he's still going to do the Axle press tho).

Cool photos. I've gotta watch one of these events, insane

Next weekend event is "BOYS DAY OUT 2010" in Hamilton, details below:

Date: Saturday 13th March

Venue: Mystery Creek, Hamilton

Events: 9 tonne truck pull,100kg Apollon bar (100kg) for reps (2 hands anyhow,60 second time limit),Farmers Walk 2x112kg-50m,160kg Anvil Carry,Stones 99,114,126,139,155kg onto 1.2m barrels.

Prizemoney: Prizemoney down to 6th in each event - 60,45,35,20,15,10$.

I'm not 100% but I'm sure thats Ryan from the AUT Strongman Club?
