You walk in the gym,see all the guys at the nees of the big boys!!!!

asking things like:how did u get that big dude?

What do u eat mr?Do u think that works better? bla bla bla....

And these big guy say,ya man i just go heavy or lift it like this or Na thats bull sh**, do it this way

And all the sheep follow, just like these mags with all the top body builders

programs, you go from this program to that program thinking this will be the one!!! it works for him!!

But think about it ppl,did so and so start training that way to get most of his or her results?

if you look back over the yrs and look at ya own progress, most guys get more results in the first 3 yrs of there training that the rest of the lives.

why is that, well hears some things that comes to mind:you start spending more time in the gym,you have more movments to do and more sets!,

back in the start you may have trained only day on day off, there for having more recover time!,less sets in each work out too, once again so u didnt tap into ya recover system so much and there for spent more time growing and not trying to recover(because the body will not grow untill its recovered,Adapt !)

then we get into what the big guy dos will work, now this man may not have any idea on how hes got those big muscles on his body,Individual

protential!!!,say u want to make a lot of money and ya looking for some one to teach ya how to make it,who do u ask?the man that was born a millonair! or the man who made his own money

think of that next time ya ask some one a idea about training

was he born with great genetic or is he on gear or both???

or this guy uses his head as well as his body,

I think when you're starting out you want to get as much information as you can from whatever sources you can.

You soon realise that there are so many contradicting theories and opinions out there and it comes down to the fact that everyone is different and different things work for different people.

I don't think the majority of people blindly follow bullshit that gets spun - at least not once they get a bit of experience under their belt - you choose what to take on board, what to try differently and what not to listen to too.

I have a couple of theory's on this.....

In my younger days I would ask the big guys for advice. The majority would give me good advice eg. Train less, eat more etc. Some would say do a million sets, spend 90 mins in the gym, 6 days a week. I was suspicious they would say this so that no one would ever be as big as them :pfft: But that may have worked for them.....

I also think a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing. As you say, you grow in the beginning, so why make drastic changes to your initial program. Sure you plateau and come to sticking points, but change it up for a bit and then go back to the tried and true.

I subscribe to the one day on, one day off theory. Dorian Yates has a good chapter on recovery in his book "A Portrait of Dorian Yates'.

I have to agree with ohjoshua, if you look the part and are willing to give out advice, then those that want the information will seek it from you. It's just the way it goes. I wouldn't be asking the over-weight PT's at the gym how to 'cut-up' for the summer. (especially when you see them munching on moro bars at 10am!!)

There is a guy at my gym who stays covered up all year round, rarely talks to anyone, yet I know that he has a huge wealth of knowledge about weight-training. You can see in the way that he trains that he knows his stuff yet people don't ask him for advice because no-one ever sees his body, he keeps to himself and they dare not interrupt him while he is working out!!! He has never competed in a bodybuilding show and probably never will, it's just not his thing. But if it came down to it and he decided to compete, he said that he would be asking the one's who have done it before for some advice. You can read so much stuff, but those who have been doing it for years have often experiemented with different techniques, nutrition, supplements etc and know what works for them. You do get conflicting advice sometimes but it's all trial and error. Genetics play a big role in some cases. I know people that are 'half-done' before they even start out at the gym, it pisses you off especially when you have to work so hard to get your results, but that's life!

lol,did any one ever read this?

I tried but my eyes started bleeding.........again.

People starting off get noobie gains - they improve fast because many of them had nothing to start with in the first place.

Believe it or not, if we just kept training the way we did when we started we wouldn't just keep getting bigger & bigger - if we did, nobody would ever change their routines.

Everybody's progress slows at some stage, it's not all due to recovery time etc. but also to do with human potential.

do u realy think cammo that the increase of volume and the mixedure of movements you have added to your workouts(like most ppl) hasnt had any impacted on the recover of your intyre body ?.

one other thing,i do think ppl are miss lead in how much or little to do with there training by others,(the others were too) so how would anyone know?

surving the needs of growth,is a lot less than most think, and maybe more than some think they can get away with.

i did wright this 2 years ago,

and im very sorry for the bad spelling (cammo)
