WTF with the video? Squatting has nothing to do with running! If it did marathon runners would be doing them to strengthen their legs it's a totally different movement! There is MORE impact when running hence why runners have to wear special padded shoes and have knee/hip/foot injuries, standing at the start of a marathon is like a battle field filled with people with their knees and feet taped up!

I don't know if it's been posted on here, but I left a short response to that video awhile back, and also wrote a longer response to go into more detail.

I have worked and trained in quite a few gyms and there are alot of good pts around. Guys and girls who actually know what they are doing. Unfortunately for every one good pt, there is 5-10 who have no right to be in the industry. I once saw a pt demonstrate a seated cable row and tell the client it was for her shoulders. Are you kidding me!

Then there are the pts who give out the same exact programme for every client no matter what they want. Bench, lat pulldown, shoulder press, bicep curl, pushdowns, crunches.

And as for the spotting, i once got a spot on the bench, I had just maxed out for 3 reps at 100kg, I got a spot at 110 aiming for one. I managed to get super strong and bang out 6 with ease. I then got the its all you bro its all you as he rowed the bar off my chest. Needless to say I never asked him for a spot again.

Yeah, have had that before too :(

Now when I ask randoms for spots (which isn't often) I'll ask them to stay close to the bar, but only touch it if I let out a "take" (thankfully my grunt sounds nothing like that :pfft:). I also make sure I'm clear about how many I'm aiming for.

I haven't had a problem when I've outlined the above to people. Unless you count sweat dripping onto my face :puke:
