chalk in gym

chalk in gym...i always kinda new that chalk wasnt allowed but as you all know i decided to buy some chalk anyway...i know the gym owner and hes pretty big and trains to a substantial degree . i train seriously so i figured hes gotta be understanding if i bring it in a bag and not make a mess.

so i pretty much asked him and got shut down apparently it invovles "mopping and vaccuming"...i dunno where our gym fees are being exercised but its just a poor excuse...then when i stated id use a bag and dust my hands inside the bag aswell he then said id have to let the next person and the person.

i could understand from the stand point of being a rule in the gym but there are plenty of other stupid rules eg no bags in the gym(thieft i assume) and no training without shoes (anyone who deadlifts would want to). but the chalk story takes the cake and he sugested i use gloves...im not that concerned about wasting money on the chalk but the fact that ill never have that advantage in this gym.

eg no shoes in gym..the serious deadlifters would want to

no bags in gym the serious lifters would have a bag full of all their accessories

and no chalk....there is just no excuse for that....total rubbish if you ask me

sorry if i sound ragey but just totally disappointed me.

Any gym like that is a gym I won't be at for long.

Or I'd just use chalk anyway.

tbh i kinda was angry with myself cuz i knew if i didnt ask for approval i coulda just gotten away with it discretely..altough they would catch onto the chalk marks on the bar..so if i just go and use chalk now ill probly get kicked out.

I understand where your gym owner is coming from. MOST gym users are not the hardcore type and therefore don't understand that chalk is a good thing - only it makes the place look messy. Unless you are fortunate enough to go to a bbuilder/plifter friendly gym thats probably going to be the norm. (Recommend you talk to OB about a membership :D )

I used to hate it in the gym but would let the members get a way with it as I couldn't bring myself to be that gym owner  - I think if you can limit it to the bar it shouldn't be a problem.

youd think so but unfortunately not...not even if i dust my hands in the bag, i guess he doenst want messy bars lmao...which also let to the answer 'id have to let the next person and next person' like wtf? and f that there arent even many people worthy of using chalk probly kids that just wanna look cool. he suggested i use gloves :-s ..pretty pathetic from a 50 year old roid monkey....i guess i assumed wrong when i actually asked him.

i guess ive got no other choice but to look for a different gym when my membership expires...unfortunately thats not for another year.

Chalk if used properly is not messy its just that most people do not know how to use it.

The idea is to not coat you hands with layers and blow puff balls before you lift, it is to take the sweat away, light rub no dust etc. To much chalk on your hands and the bars gets coated and the knurling becomes non exsitent and you lose your grip. Back to square one no grip.
