Prreeeetty much, last year it was to lose the chub and uncover what I had underneath, this year I'll be attempting to pack a little size on first, and then attacking a bit of a cut for the end of year  Have a few people tagging along this time, so there'll be a little more work in getting them up to speed + helping however I can, but having a couple of people going through the same torture is always a big help

Good few days of working out, still keeping the weights relatively light and nailing technique - getting used to the 4days per week workouts again, and will slowly start adding cardio and possibly a 5th day of core/rehab/prehab work.

Hey man, nah have been less worried about diet/pics lately and more about just keeping the body going through the injuries out of rugby season :pfft:

Can still see abs though, but the body is looking a bit soft now - far from where I was at last year. Will get some pics up at the beginning of the cut probably, don't expect much though heh heh :P

Training has been a bit all over the place while I'm trying to manage the injuries, gain strength where I can, and now holding off a bit while I prepare for the end of year regime.

Still overall there's a lot less work to do than I had last year... and am confident I will turn in looking a lot sharper at the end of it

  • All deep, pretty easy but fatiguing quite early with the sickness.
  • Bench easy again, wanting to hold around the 90 mark before making a big push on the end of year thing for some PBs hopefully.
  • Face pulls all good.

Short and sharp workout as intended, did the trick though as felt a lot better after it, crashed out as soon as I got home :pfft:

Been planning out the end of year program and it's coming together nicely, very excited about it

Were you at Exodus this morn?

Was indeed, you were in the squat rack next to us aye? Had a mild suspicion that may have been you (good squats btw :))

That was my first time there, quite liked it, better than I had thought it'd be

Nah my squats were rubbish. I was actually thinking "Shame, he's seeing me at my worst."

But all good, I'll def make sure I say hi next time :)

Ha don't be so hard on yourself, I was having a tough time of it trying to teach my mate what I knew (he hadn't squatted before) - which is limited when it comes to guys with his height :pfft:

May not be at Exodus much again - if at all - as it is a bit out of my way, but I have a free week pass to use at some point if I feel the need. But at least will be able to pick you out next time :)

It could have been worse... I ended up behind VC in a cardio class a while back, and take it from me.... that is definitely me at my worst

I've been crossing paths with Drizzt at City Fitness but mostly it seems we train the same places at diff times of day!

Weighed in at 92.4. Beginning the training today, and slipping into the "gist" of the diet. This was meant to start at the begining of Sept, but the training has been a little aimless of late while I'm waiting for the start to come, so decided I might as well kick it off.

On antibiotics now and apart from a little tiredness, the infections are clearing up and I seem to be cheering up a bit too (didn't realize how much of an emo grump I was until the sickness started clearing! :?). This translated into a really good workout :D

  • Squats (heavy day)
    10 x 60kg
    10 x 90kg
    6 x 110kg
    5 x 110kg
    5 x 110kg
  • Deads (heavy day)
    10 x 60kg
    6 x 100kg
    4 x 120kg
    6 x 140kg
  • OHP (heavy day)
    10 x bar
    5 x 40kg
    5 x 50kg
    5 x 50kg
    5 x 50kg
  • Dips
    5 x +10kg
    5 x +10kg
    5 x +15kg

Comments

  • Squats were very easy, used a belt for the working sets to good effect. Messed up a tad on the first set, only meant to go to 5 reps but hit 6 out of habit  Light squat day will be Friday.
  • Deads were sweet too, can't remember the last time I tried 140. Will be doing deads once per week and aiming for 1 top set.
  • OHP was easy too, but I expected it to be at this weight. Will do one strict session with heavy weights in the week (i.e. today), and one push press session with light weights later in the week.
  • Will be using Dips as a sort of assisstance ex at the moment until I've fully figured the structure of the workouts I"ll be doing. So instead of doing 2x dips sessions in the week, I'll be swapping them out for something else later in the week (yet to decide what, maybe GHR).

May abandon this journal for a fresh start to record the end of year stuff

Weighed in at 92 flat today.

Had a pretty good boxing session last night, first "Fitness" class on a Monday I've been to in a while, basically just rounds hitting the heavy bag... lungs were heaving though as haven't done a lot of any sort of fitness since rugby finished a couple weeks back

  • Front Squats (light day)
    10 x bar
    10 x 40kg
    5 x 60kg
    5 x 60kg
    5 x 60kg
  • Power Cleans
    10 x bar (hang cleans)
    5 x 40kg
    5 x 40kg
    5 x 40kg
  • Incline Bench (light day)
    10 x 60kg
    5 x 70kg
    5 x 70kg
    5 x 70kg
    5 x 70kg
  • Pullups (not wide, but wider than shoulder width)
    5 x bw
    5 x bw
    5 x bw

Comments

  • Easy front squats, 60 was a good weight for a light day, right in the "light" sweet spot.
  • Power cleans felt great, brilliant spring on these, weight felt like just the bar. Will only be doing one power clean session per week.
  • Incline bench was pretty easy considering I haven't done it for quite a while. Good weight to start with I reckon, wanting to keep it a decent chunk behind the flat bench so that this is more useful as a "light" day, but also want to up my incline steadily too.
  • Pullups were suprisingly easy too considering a lack of practice for the past few months, got all sets pretty easy, last couple of reps were a bit of a grind but cheating was kept to a minimum.

Feeling awesome at the moment, renewed energy now that rugby is over and gym is my main focus 8)

Now to get over this niggly little ankle/foot injury :x

Now to get over this niggly little ankle/foot injury

Injuries suck. I know egggzaaaactly how you feel :( :?   :banging: :banging: :banging: :banging: :banging:

Hope it gets better soon. Funny how you just don't know how lucky you are not to have an injury until after you get one. Whenever I have one I'm like "f*ck as soon as I'm better I'm guna stretch everyday and do core exercises and take care of myself!!" and then I only remeber when I get the next one

Thanks Peach :) Yeah main issue with it is it affects my running - my rugby physio told me it's a stabilizing muscle (after an x-ray ruled out fracture), one which moves the ankle outwards. Long story short I can't really get onto my toes on that foot, so have to flat-foot run if I try to (which I did in the last game of the season :pfft:). Need to introduce some sort of resistance to it I reckon... but probably putting off an inevitable physio visit. Thankfully it hasn't affected squatting or anything, but skipping was a struggle at boxing.

But very true, so many niggles these days they're hard to keep track of... and have been a bit slack on my lower back exercises too :shifty: Thanks for the reminder!
