Heh, spa pools, especially public ones, always make me go on semen alert  :pfft:

Plasters and hair in the pool/spa pools freak me out, I did alot of swimming a couple of years ago and the amount of stuff floating about in public pools is kinda gross! Best to not think about it!!

 Best not to get in it! :pfft:

Probably the most sensible thing I've heard all day I scared of yellow spa pool

Hey, it ain't too cold, it ain't too winty - this might just be as good as it gets. Now, if we can just fix the humidity!

Yeh it's not too bad actually outside, once it stopped raining.

So would that be considered a golden spa? :shifty:

Me scared

Hooray for beef  =P~

For the inverted row, here is what Stronglift has to say... I actually may have put you wrong on some of the details, sorry 'bout that.

Ah, no you're right TFB, I was doing them right, just need to elevate my feet I had them on the floor. It's like a pushup I guess, thanks for the link finally a use for the smith machine! LOL

I may have been leading with my head though I tend to do that with pushups too! I will get TP to check form next week.

It was a teach your grandma to suck eggs day today.

Had my 'fitness' test at new gym today, it is mandatory before you begin to be let loose on the equipment. Had a BF test at 30% BF  WTF? I was 22% 4 months ago I very much dispute that! My husband who has done any exercise in years apart from eat pies and drink beer came in at 19%.

The test may be flawed methinks.

I went on the exercycle for the fitness test and came in a 'average to good' much to the shock of the PT as I am 30% fat after all!!!! :pfft:

'So do you want to tone up and get in shape' he asked me.

'NO I've been trying to build muscle for 1.5 years' He nearly fell over in shock ' BUILD MUSCLE?'

'YES that is correct'

So I got shown the machine fly and ASSISTED CHINUP machine I told him I had a chinup bar at home but I still had to go on the assisted machine, assisted.

He also showed me the food pyramid which IMO is totally wrong, with bread as a main source of food and only 1 serving of protein a day.

So now I'm signed up and free to do my own thing with the suggestion that I shouldn't lift heavy and I should do more cardio.

 :pfft:

I think this slips by a lot of people, but women are going to carry a given BF% better than men will. High 20s on a female is equivalent to high teens in a male, give or take. Women have more "padding".

Be careful with this. Aerobic capacity is not "fitness". It's aerobic capacity. That's all.

Yeah you're gonna end up with an "arms" day, I see it now.

You're not paying money for this, right?

I just don't understand how I've gone up 8% in a few months even when my nasty tanita scale which over-estimates says I'm 25%! I guess different people measuring etc etc.

Tell that to the PT!!!!

Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Not for the 'fitness test' no, I am paying to be a member of the gym though, it's half the price of my LM membership that I'm selling on Trade me if anybody interested??!!

Oh no, poor you! I had almost the exact opposite discussion with a PT today - I was at J'ville after work and got chatting with one of the PTs I see around there and who is very friendly. He asked me what my goals were and that led to general chatting about bb-ing and Michelle Heggie going off to the Arnolds shortly - no shock at all that a female might want to be muscular, but slight concern at the amount of cardio he sees me doing (to be fair to me, I mostly only do cardio at that gym on the way home and leave my weights work to my town gym, so he doesn't really get a good picture of what I do - but I'm happy to be told less cardio is good!!!).

At least you're let loose now to do your thing. What a complete waste of your time

What gym is it?

I wouldn't worry about it. BF% is one of the most inherently inaccurate measurements in probably the whole universe.

A whole ton of stuff influences BF% measures, not the least of which is the mode of testing and the skill of the tester (given the rest of your post, I'll go ahead and suggest that this is probably "not high").

Be careful with this. Aerobic capacity is not "fitness". It's aerobic capacity. That's all.

I try. They usually ignore me or go "but that's not what I learned in PT school".

I just find it a bit insulting as he was showing me like I had never been near a gym before, I would like to be shown new things not the things I do every week for the last couple of years!!! AND after I have worked so hard to do proper chin ups I get shown the assisted machine  .

It's Sportswide gym, I guess there is just a standard intro the same for everybody......I'm quite happy to learn and change, I have 2 more freebie sessions next week I'm taking my notebooks for the last 2 years with me to show him and bore him to tears!!

Yep you're right nasty painful test!!

LMAO the last time I had it done in Auckland my PT had to do some sort of maths equation and it took ages, this one looked it up on a chart and averaged it out. He had me at 35% then re-did the measurements and got ALOT less. Meh silly BF!!!

It's Sportswide gym

I was thinking about joining there - just for the pool on the Terrace. Be nice to have a lunchtime swim.

Yep it's pretty good for the money I'm only paying $10 a week and it's 3 doors down from my house and open 24 hours WIN WIN!!

Can you use any branch and the pool for that price? Or do you have to pay extra if you want that option? Last time I checked you don't get much (if any) change from $5 per swim at a council pool.

Fair enough. I might enquire at the Terrace about their weekly cost. If it's as cheap as that, 2 swims a week would be enough for it to be worthwhile. I've tried swimming at my local pool on the way to work, bit it's not really feasible. A pool down the road from work would do the job though - just leave all the swim gear at work. Would love to do more of that on my off days.

You can hire lockers on a monthly basis too which would be handy if you were going there from work, they are $10 a month. It's a great no frills gym :P
