Why the f*ck can't we have our national day observed as a holiday? It's rude! NZ has one of the lowest public holiday rates in the world

Agreed - Other folks have it better, but I was surprised at how it goes in the States. There's one Federal Holiday every single month except August. The reason there's no holiday in August (so I was told) is 'cos it's high summer, when everyone takes their annual vacation, and (for govt workers anyways) if a Federal holiday falls during your annual leave, you don't get credit for it.

Mind you, if you're a wage slave in the commercial sector in the states, tough!

Hallo Vee, how are you today?

oooo Hallo Miss Rosey! I'm just grand! How are you doing Missy?

I am well, thank you. What are you up to today? Some fine sunshine out there. I am contemplating how to get to the shops without melting. Do you think an umbrella is too eccentric? Oh, happy NZ day. Funny innit, how when there's no day off associated with it, Waitangi Day is but a minor blip on the radar. The 7's kinda overshadow it too though I suppose. Why the f*ck can't we have our national day observed as a holiday? It's rude! NZ has one of the lowest public holiday rates in the world

I just brought 40 litres of compost from the garden shop and walked home with it UP HILL F*%K me that was difficult  I am going back for the other 120 litres tomorrow it's too bloody hot! I am starting a vege garden, I did contemplate growing beef but I don't have that much room in my front garden so I got some herbs and lettuce. I'm great at killing plants so we'll see how long they last the wrath of Vee. The garden shop lady told me it was difficult to kill them, but I noticed my cactus is looking a bit dead :pfft:

Umbrella in sun is not only practical but very chic 8) plus you don't wanna have done all your research on what to put in your body and then die of skin cancer do you?

In the states you are only allowed 2 weeks off a year as annual leave, not like us 4 weeks, don't worry we have it pretty easy in this country, when I was working in UK you could only have 2 weeks off annual leave there too and where I worked they refused to pay me while I was on holiday, yes it was legal at the time!

Oh vege garden, you lucky lady, I'd love to be at one with the land, f*ck I'd give up everything to go feral in a flash. Nothing stopping me I suppose. Oh except lack of money to buy land. I could just go bush. That's still an option if I can find somewhere DOC won't get me.

Carrying heavy shit in the sun is no walk in the park Miss, hats off to you :salute:

I would go out with the umbrella but people look at it with derision even when it's raining. I couldn't be arsed buying one so I saw this one my landlady was throwing out one day, perfectly functional, the handle was chipped. But oh my it's the most hideous pattern and rainbow of colours you've ever seen. I love it because it's hideously ugly and unwanted. One of life's rejects 8)

If I can make my vege garden grow there will be hope to become self sufficient one day, I just need to start slow, if I went ahead with it full bore I would probably die of starvation!! Having butcher man is great as he could do the slaughtering. I butchered my own steak last week, you would be proud of me!

Rainbow colours sounds great! I like lifes odd bods and cast offs, it's easier to blend in in Wellington as there are quite a few 'interesting' people about, in Sporkland everybody looks the same it's lame.

I wonder if you could just set up somewhere in the bush, is ALL the land in NZ owned by SOMEBODY? If you went somewhere obscure surely there's a piece nobody knows who owns it??

True, esp at the moment with the 7's going on and all that. I still want a pic of that Wonder Woman TFB saw passed out on Featherston Street. Now that's class 8)

Dunno? I'd probably get eaten alive by moa trying to find it. Heh.

Here you go Rose, land for the occupying... if DOC does't want it, that is!

Maybe not the moas, they got run-off by the moose down in Fiordland, right  But moose is good red meat =P~

Um... Vee? That's not what they mean when they say a Farmer Walk, really....

Actually, since 40l of compost has got to be like a half-extra Vee or worse, maybe it IS a Farmer Walk

And congrats for training legs this arvo... many a braver person has said "nah, I'll do chest instead" in heat like this1

I am sitting indoors in air con now too knackered to do anything! I really felt like a burly person doing the farmers walk doing that!!

I've officially boycotted Waitangi day today. If there's no day off work connected to it, it doesn't count as far as I'm concerned, so I don't want to see anything about what the hell John Key has been doing and whoever else.

Give me a day off and I'll give a more of a damn. But if it's not important enough to attach a day off work, then it's not important enough for me to celebrate. :P

You know what's even more of a bitch? Having your normal day off on a Monday. I lose 4 paid days off a year because my work is sneaky and gives me my normal day off on Monday. Argh!! I still had to work today anyway. Damn job!

Research results testify that the cultivated worms contain the same amount and value of protein with analogical content of amino acids found in meat and fish flour

Check it out! Worms are high in all the good shit!

How many worms would you need though? Insects are very rich in protein but you have to eat so many of the goddamned things to get anywhere! I guess they have no bones to speak of so they would be solid protein ready to grind down!
