Hey man I always stalk your journal (don't be scared, among many others) and I thought I'd leave a comment, how are you progressing with your goals? I see you've already benched 90+, and its only June 8)

Hows the bodyweight/bf? got that checked lately?

Bodyweight's been trending very slowly down, b/fat likewise... I'd likely have had more impressive results in that area if I'd paid more attention to diet  After having taken the first four months to recover from a bulging lumbar disk, I'm looking to re-group in July and push on.

If I can find the right links to a good Sheiko programme, I might give it a go. I've a potential training partner for heavy days lined up, so that might work to my advantage too.

Other progress - couldn't quite make a 100kg front squat when I tried a month or so ago, but it was shoulders, not legs, let me down there.

All good work in progress.

Saturday 19th June

Cardio - a 30 minute preview of the new Fight-Do release. Was gutted it wasn't longer... and glad I'd managed to spend 20 minutes on a big warming-up the knees... more cardio tomorrow, coupled with some weights, to redeem myself

Oh, it'll be heavy, and it'll be Saturday somewhere in the world, just not where the weights are being lifted... otherwise, you got a point? :phear:

Yeah, it was cool, just far too short..I was barely warmed up (and getting the timings right) when it was done-n-dusted.

Gonna have to go to Ex on Wednesday for the full-length feature film

Heavy weights need to be lifted once a week, it's the law.

Sure, you say that now... come to my gym and tell me! smiley-taunt010.gif

I'll be in the squat rack, doing 10kg barbell curls :pfft:

[Actually, with all this smack talk, maybe I better do Heavy-Day-Sunday (TM Chillicat!) ]

Did it

Sunday 20 June

Deadlifts 5x5 [warm-up 1x 10x 60, 1x 10x 80] 120 140 150 160 then two good ones at 170, before trying 175, but that wasn't gonna happen.

Standing OH Press 5x5 40kg 45 45 50 55

Decline BB Bench 5x5 60 70 80 90 and two good ones at 95 kg PB before getting stapled on the third rep.

Cardio 40m elliptical to finish.

Decided to give Squats the swerve, and threw in another upper body for laughs instead. Happy with the two good deadlifts at 170, a wee bit disappointed I couldn't get the 175 past knees despite about five attempts.

Standing OH Press was OK, nothing special, but Bench... both the flat benches and the incline were in use, so it was decline, which I hadn't done for ages. The first sets flew up, even a good set of five at 90, and two good ones at 95... now, these were "bodybuilding" good ones, I know the hips were lifting off the bench so I'd have been red-lighted, but the bar hit chest, paused a count, and went back to lock-out... the third, well, take it from me there is no dignified way to dismount from a decline bench when you've got a bar across the groin! Thanks to the guy on the next bench, whoever he is.

:pfft: Oops!

I was glad I managed to push the bar away from abs/ribs/head, it was resting on pelvis so wasn't that awkward

Helpful dude said he saw me going for the third rep and thought it would be dicey... but hey, at least now I know I can get two reps out at 95kg :jive: that two-plates-a-side lift is getting closer by the day

Monday 21 June

Cardio - for laughs ( ) - decided, 'cos it was nice and sunny, to go for a run from the office, up by Metro New World, to Point Jerningham and back. The run out to the Point was fine, but I turned for home just as the temperature dropped, the clouds gathered and the cold Southerly wind and rain rocked up...

Still, any exercise is better than being stuck in the office

Sadly, no... at 8am yesterday I'd been in the office for about half an hour and was desperately seeking strong coffee.. on account of there being no sources of strong drink available at that time of day!

Ah that's lucky I nearly said hello to a total stranger then, it was one of those "is it TFB? Hmmm not sure, should I say hello?" moments. Good luck with the physio hope you feeling better sir.

What are the chances there's another poor bloke looks just like me out there :(

Rest assured, if I see ya, I say Hi !

Back will come right, the anti-flams and a couple of follow-ups, plus a dedicated return to careful warm-ups and stretching post-workout should see it right. It's really quite handy having the in-house physio, both of the two I've had have been knowledgeable. This guy's even defined a gauge of rehab: he asked what I'd finish deadlifts with, and defined 'fixed' as 10 pain-free deadlifts at about 65% 5RM.
