how much running is too much running?

Hi everyone. I have been doing alot of running atm. mon - 40 min jog, tues - intervals - wed 40 mins jog thurs - intervals fri - 40min jog and sat 40min jog x2 Sun rest. I do weights also mon to sat. Just wondering how much running do i need to do before i start burning muscle. Really dont wana lose muscle

When do you do your leg session in the week? (Reason I ask is to see what sort of recovery time you are giving them before throwing in the interval session - I assume the intervals are sprints?) It will also depend on how many calories you are taking in as well.

Hey mate, have you started doing legs yet? Seen the PT you were after? If so, what did he think? How's the nutrition looking?

I think you've got to weigh up where you want your strengths to lie for Rugby (assuming that is still your goal). If you want a bit of a cardio/speed focus, then by all means continue what you're doing with the running and use the weights to supplement it. However I still think cardio 6 x days (sometimes twice per day) and weights 5 x days is overtraining a tad - especially at the intensity you're shooting the cardio out at. You need to find some sort of balance and IMHO peg one of the two back a little.

I stumbled across this article on Bodybuilding.com forums. have only had time to read the first page but I'd suggest giving it a look and you might pick up a few ideas :)
