My LAST try blog! I'm GOING to do it!

Hey guys!

I have a blog at BB.com but will copy the main stuff. Ok here goes..

Hey everyone!

For the last year or so i've really been wanting to get back into shape. Don't get me wrong, I'm not obese or overweight, but just a regular guy who has stopped most physical activity and packed on the fast food meals and tv dinners.

I'm 20 years old, 5" 10 and 89kg.

Anyhow, what I am wanting to get out of this is to get some shape back in my abs and to cut the fat that is there. I used to play sport through my high school years and had a nice set. However once high school finished and I went to university (College) it started to get replaced by fat. I'm hoping to cut this fat down so its nice and flat.

One of the upsides of me putting the fat on is that my chest started to develop. It actually looks pretty good with a t-shirt on but little do people know that its mostly fat and not muscle or whatnot.

I don't know much about cutting or anything so am looking to learn as I go along. One thing is for sure though, this is the last time i'm doing this. I AM going to reach my goal. I'm sick and tired of trying every now and then and getting nowhere.

Excercise

I read a tiny bit about what excercise to do. I found that I need to do some cardio and luckily have a crosstrainer (elliptical) machine at home. So now this morning and the rest of the next few weeks or however long I'm going to do 30 mins on the crosstrainer first thing in the morning.

I realise I should be doing weights or something but to be honest I have no idea what this means. I'm guessing I would need to go to a gym but unfortunately I can't do this with the time constraints of my final year in university. (Takes 20 mins to get to gym and get back and an hour or so there. Not to mention the gym fees which I simply dont have the money for). I did get two 1.5kg dumbbells with the cross trainer though. I'm guessing these are way too small a weight to do anything productive? (UPDATE: Uni has now of corse finished but gyms seem really expensive! Still trying to sort something out though).

Anyhow, I look forward to updating this and seeing your comments. I will update this everyday and hope to meet some new people and look forward to your tips and suggestions.

Oh also, I notice there are lots of supplements etc available. Are there any that would suit me?

FAST FORWARD 2 MONTHS

Hey everyone!

I'm back! Wow, my last post was nearly 2 months ago! Anyway, I better fill you in since my last posts.

Well i've kinda stuck to my plans. I've really changed the way I eat and try to eat a lot more sandwiches and try to cut down on fast food etc. I've missed my daily cross training sessions for a week or two but have generally been good.

As of right now, I have started to incorporate swimming into my cardio. Today was my third day in a row, (I have exams for the next few days) and will be doing x trainer for the next few days. I plan to do 3 days of swimming and 2 days of cardio.

Looking to buy a set of dumbells really soon so I can add to my upperbody which I think may be slightly loosing some mass due to the cardio which is to be expected.

I've also lost a bit of weight.

Weight at the start of this adventure = 89kg = 196lbs

Current weight = 81.5/82kg = 179 - 180lbs

Please note that my scales are off by approximately 3kg but am using the same scale so the weight loss should still be accurate.

Anyway, here are some pics.

Hey Chris, well done on keeping regular progress pics. Looking back on them makes all the effort worthwhile.

Have you joined a gym yet? That's when you'll really start to see progress. I don't know whether the uni gym is an option for you, but they're (comparatively) cheap. Alternatively, it's good to join a commercial gym while you still get a student discount, since you usually get to keep the discount long after you graduate.

Hi Pseudonym,

No, haven't joined a gym as yet. Will hopefully be getting a summer job until uni starts again and would go then. At the moment am just doing the basic crunches and bicycle crunches and also using my VERY LIGHT 1.5kg dumbells that came with a crosstrainer

Will be looking to purchase some heavier weights in the next couple of weeks :)

Welcome Static. You've got a nice V shape so when you start getting into heavier weights and put on some more muscle you'll look great.

Keep up with the X-trainer and eating clean. How much protein are you getting?

Do any of your friends have weights? Maybe you could borrow them or go to your mates place for heavier training until you can join a gym.

Best of luck. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hey dude, just in the meanwhile while you're waiting to get weights, you can do some good bodyweight exercises, no equipment required; eg

Crunches

Pullups/Chinups

Pushups

Dips

Squats, maybe with a backpack on or grab a sack of something heavy

Just improvise...a tree branch, some poles, whatever

(Until you get weights of course)

Hi rimma,

Yup I try and do my exercises every day, although before this week I was kinda lazy and busy and stopped for the last month or so!

I do 20 x 5 Bicycle crunches

10 x 5 Push ups

I then use my crappy 1.5kg dumb bells and lie down and do 20 x 5.

Then back to 20 x 5 bicycle crunches and then 20 x 5 crunches to finish.
