Why chucks?
They've got a flat sole, so it's the next best thing to being barefoot. A lot of shoes have contours in the soles that make squatting and pulling feel really unstable.

You can't spread the floor effectively in a shoe that has a soft, cushioned sole. As Pman says, cushioned shoes impair stability.

Chucks for wide squatters who 'spread the floor', otherwise solid soled weightlifting shoes (Adidas @ $360 a pair, cheapies around $100).

Deadlift slippers for DL's (reduce height, anything heeled gives a disadvantage).

Tramping type shoes or sports shoe without cushioning for all other weight training. Save crosstrainers/running shoes for cardio - they have no place in the weights room - squishy soles equal a world of pain with heavy weights!

I have red sequined chucks

Picks please!!

Mine are pink, white and grey.

I LOVE mine and they is falling apart, I have to try and find some more.

I have black polka-dot laces in them too

Oooh nice - they were 'shoe of the week' a while back in the Sunday mag. I'd love some!

Never occurred to me to wear chucks in the gym. I've seen one or two people wearing them, but just figured they'd forgotten their gym shoes so were wearing their street shoes.

My chucks are just plain black with white bottoms, but my laces are cool - they have witches and spiderwebs on them - love them to bits!

When the Crosstrainers fail me ill look at something else.

So far I cant see it making any disadvantage to me. Weights are going up and never have issues, though i suppose it could be one of those you dont know till you try it things.

Try squatting even three plates a side (let alone 5+) or even 3-4 plates a side bar rows in crosstrainers...... Nightmare! Better off in steel cap work boots as they have little 'give' in the sole.

Either that or stay on the leg extensions...... :pfft:

I use DVS full leather skate shoes (flat soles) prob next best down from Chucks or proper weightlifting shoes. Been thinking I would like a pair of these to go with my old Otomix trackies but not sure about size. Can buy atm for US$84 real cheap.
