Vitamin A toxicity has a whole range of possible sides, which I had weighed up as being not too bad.

You may or may not experience frustration because none of your lifts improve, no matter what you do, as a result of vit A induced muscle weakness.

You also may or may not find that, due to a close relationship with the GI tract, some foods, vits etc have an adverse effect, e.g. taking lots of fish oil might not be a good thing, should your liver become toxic. It might make you weaker and feel worse. This can also apply to liver cleanse type products, seemingly harmless multi vitamins, food.

Just some things to bear in mind, so you can recognise them for what they are, should you experience any of this. If it saves you some stress in the future, I'm happy :)

Ahh well that's not great news but thanks for sharing anyway Rose. I'm getting regular bloodwork (once per month) which includes liver enzyme tests so hopefully they can makes sure my liver doesn't get too fucked up.

I'm going to take it real easy on the lifts, and slowly, slowly, slowly build it up. If things don't happen then there's really not a lot I can do, and I guess I'm resigned to the fact that I might not progress a whole lot, or even decline, between now and when I flush it all out in Nov/Dec.

Frustrating but I am still hopeful that I'll be unaffected. Im 19 and indestructible afterall.

Yep. And apologies, I didn't mean to put the shits up you. Those are just things I thought someone might want to be prepared for, so they can be recognised as side effects, should they even factor.

Did some squatting yesterday which was a little bit shit but turned out alright.

30kg x 10

50kg x 10

61kg x 5

69kg x 3

78kg x 0

Got the bar off the racks and something felt funny, lost my balance and ditched it on the bars.

Tried again and felt heavy as, got 4 reps out and was gutted seeing as my goal was 9 reps...

I realise I've never squatted with shoes on before. So I took them off and tried again- Third time lucky! From now on I'll stick to bare feet as I assume that the shoes were throwing me off somehow.

This is what I was aiming for and I got it easily enough, although the last reps were a grind. Works out to estimated 1RM of 100kg.

Accutane update:

Two weeks in and the medication is flaring up my acne like the docs said it would. Balancing a metal bar loaded with weight on my acne ridden neck and shoulders becomes a form of torture :lol:

It is so painful that I had to use a home made puss-pad to dull the pain on the big squat sets. Don't judge me. :lol:

The funny thing is they were chucks, as i had read about how trainers are useless. It might have been unrelated or I might just need to get used to it :think:

Was shooting for 8 reps and got 9 but had to sit down for awhile afterwards, dizzy.

Tried to do Good mornings but it wasnt happening

i love/hate hacks. cos u can take ur legs to failure safely and then fall on the ground in pain.

Assistance

DB rows @ 22.5kg

20, 20, 10 each side. Was eating some protein oats during the workout and spewed some up into my mouth by accident. I think it was just the angle of the dangle (i.e bent over) not max exertion. Gotta love that nasty bile taste.

Pushups: 5x12 one minute breaks between

Got a good pump in delts. Fun workout even though I'm a wee bit under the weather. I took some measurements today and have put 5cm on my chest since May!

...and 3cm on my waist- getting a good old gut developing :grin:

Some of my pants are getting to be a struggle to zip up, may have to do some dreaded cardio if this keeps up!

Deadlifting today

As I'm writing I have the craziest lower back pump, its verging on the obscene...feels like shits gonna pop!

110kg x 7 One rep short of a new PR, calculates to 135.5kg 1RM 8)

Took a couple videos of deadlifts for the first time, just to see what my form is like. I realised recently from reading starting strength that I've been 'roundbacking' pretty much the whole time I've been deadlifitng. When I tried doing it properly today, it felt almost like a squat (legs not back) and I had less strength. Still I'm definitely gonna work on this to avoid injury and all the rest.

Assistance:

Stood on a 2x4 just for shits and giggles. Turns out deficit deads are not that funny. Ended up dropping the weights back into a backward pyramid.

First time doing these (the right way up :oops: ) so took some getting used to, and some number-eight-wiring to do on my crappy bench.

I'm keeping it pretty casual and basically doing what I feel like, but having said that, mostly Big but Boring or Triumvirate. I reckon the important thing is to get the three lifts done, and then after that is not as crucial.

A couple of times when I've been sick, grumpy or running out of time I've done f*ck all assistance. The rest of the time trying to get in some volume and practice with big sets of ten for teh hypertrophy :grin:

Around 74kg. Looking back through my journal I was 69kg in April. 5kg increase over 2.5 months might have something to do with it :shock:

they don't seem to get easier! Ive got 6sets of 10 somewhere in my book! n i doubt id get that atm

I find ive gota do a few sets as a first exercise to get decent numbers. after rows, n stuff i get pretty fried. they piss me off. I needa do more...keep pulling!
