Deadlifts this afternoon went very well. Deviated from the 5/3/1 slightly to try out some heavy singles again which was cool. Have no lifting belt but I might buy one for heavy deads, yes/no?

50kg x 5

80kg x 5

100kg x 5

120kg x 1

135kg x 1 PR

140kg x 1 PR

145kg x 0

Pretty stoked to have put 10kg on my deadlift, pretty sure I could have hit 145kg if I took fewer jumps to get there. Interesting to note that my real 1RM exactly aligns with the estimates I have been using.

Then went back to do the reps at 120kg as programmed,

120kg x 3

Decided to have another go, went a bit harder and got 120kg x 5 which is a rep record.

Then tried out some front squats for the first time, just with the bar and then some light weights upto 40kg.

My wrist got really sore so I had to stop it after only a few sets.

Finished with some crunches and went for a brief jog.

Congrats on your PR pull! Love that feeling of lifting the biggest weight yet off the floor.

During this last set the heavy cast-iron pull-up bar fell off the top off the rack and hit me in the head...could have been nasty if it was during a heavy set. As it was hurt like a bitch and gave me a lump. Memo to self: nail pull-up bar to rack :lol:

Only seven weeks till I leave the country, thinking of jumping on the sheiko bandwagon :lol: to try and deliberately 'overtrain' and push myself, as I will be unused to the rigid structure and higher volume.

Probably will have zero access to a gym for a month and a half.

Then resume 531 again when I come back next year.

Is this a stupid idea?

So it was the first workout today, didn't get off to a good start as I pulled something in my groin/leg while squatting. Bench was all good though, pretty easy.

Had some issues with not having any blocks for the "deadlift from blocks". Improvised with a bench and a chair but it was dodgy to say the least, and too high (knee level). Will have to come up with something

Did some silly bench/pec deck/lat pull-down workout at my mate's house on Tuesday.

Back into it properly today...too easy! Maybe my puny starting weights were too light. Loving the rigid structure though, no slacking off.

Just about to head of to the gym and train legs. Going to find my max squat with the smith machine :nod:

Your Smith machine squats are strong man, keep up the good work. nice leg sweep too, damn im jealous with my shitty toothpicks :(

Week two day one

Went pretty well, bench sets were a bit more of a challenge but still easy. Squats were fine. Front squats were awkward but alright. Man my wrists must be inflexible, I've only done front squats once before so that doesn't helpceither.

After todays workout me and my mate were driving up to the beach for a swim, he lost control on the gravel and we crashed over a bank and rolled the car 360 degrees into a ditch. Climbed out the windows dukes of hazzard styles with not a scratch on us :shock: but the car is fucked.

Time to buy a lotto ticket :pfft:
