Took the sled for a proper run today with my mate and had a few setbacks, made a couple modifications, good as gold now I hope.

73kg bodyweight I'm not sure if I should keep bulking or start cutting back

Come down with a nasty chest infection and have had a fucked up week, bodyweight down 2kg which is a real pain in the ass for me. Tried lifting once on Friday but I couldn't even come close to the prescribed weight.

Feeling mostly human today and gave it my best, still lacking a bit of energy and strength is down. Looking back at the month of August it has been a useless write-off mostly, but I am still on track for my goals from doing so well in June and July so gotta suck it up.

OH Press day

20kg x 10

30kg x 5

40kg x 5

42.5kg x 5

45kg x 7 equal to a previous best, needed 8.

30kg x 10

30kg x 10

30kg x 10 started fading

25kg x 10

25kg x 10 usually would get 5 sets at 30kg...

Coming out of the sickness and into a nice dead session today, set a PB which was surprising as things have been a bit stagnant recently. Was reading through the big boys deadlift challenge thread earlier and it must have amped me up! :pfft:

60kg x 10

80kg x 5

100kg x 5

105kg x 5

110kg x 9 Previous rep record was 7, and set a 2kg estimated PR at 143kg.

Coming closer to my 150kg goal, still got two months to go but gotta pull them properly not as estimates.

80kg x 5 (deficit)

80kg x 5 (deficit)

80kg x 5 (deficit)

Started doing some hack squats and then got tired slash bored, not the best way to end the workout and not enough volume as usual.

Good work on the deads mate, next dead session maybe try a few singles at 130kg or 135kg, start getting used to the feel of the higher weights. Great for progressions too, every week or two add the smallest plates you've got to the previous effort.

Thanks man thats a good idea, and I have been thinking along those lines. Haven't done any singles for two months or so, back then my max was 130kg. So I will start bringing them back to get in the groove before I test my 1RM properly.

not sure if your dealoading every 4 weeks or 7 weeks?

imo the best time to be throwing 1rm stuff is in the 3rd week, before deaload. im doing it atm, just doing the 5r/3r/1r, with no extra reps. then hit the singles you want. if you want to, after that you can go back and trepeat your '1' set.

just my 2c mate!

Sup fella!

I'm deloading every 7 weeks, trying to go hard (overtrain?) because in a couple of months I will be going on an enforced six week break from lifting.

That sounds likes a very sensible place to be putting 1rm stuff actually. otherwise I'd be too taxed from the kingpin set to get any decent singles.

Had another good one today, coughing up residual bits of phelgm in between sets but still set a bench 2kg PR

Bench day

30kg x 10

52.5kg x 5

57.5kg x 5

60kg x 11 Beat previous rep record of 10 and previous 1rm record with 82kg

Incline:

50kg x 10

47.5kg x 10

42.5kg x 10

40kg x 10

35kg x10

Incline strength is on the up and up, I must be getting used to the exercise.

DB Rows x 20

Chin-ups: few sets then got a bit tired and wandered off for a feed.

Took some progress photos and I am quite happy with the way things are going now after two PR days in a row. Here's hoping I get one for squats too

Nice weights, looks like your slightly ahead of me

What kind of weights can you do on Leg Press and Leg Extensions?

(Hoping I can beat you with legs :pfft: )

Hey mate you probably can smash me on legs they are pretty feeble. I work out at home so have no leg press etc, just a homemade squat rack so I only squat. And my squats have been pretty shit lately :(

But they seem to be on the mend...

finished off a good week today with squats that were almost back to where I should be at.

30kg x 10

50kg x 5

70kg x 5

75kg x 5

80kg x 8 Didn't push it to failure but worked out to 101kg 1RM just 2kg off the previous best.

Did some light squats to finish to try and get back to basics

50kg x 5 x 10

And some extremely half-assed crunches for teh abbs

What calculation are you using for this?

hey man, using the formula:

weight x reps x 0.0333 + weight = estimated 1RM

Not perfectly accurate, but still pretty useful for a ballpark figure when comparing between rep maxes.

Bench day today went pretty well, bodyweight is down alot almost going backwards but strength appears to be still the same so hopefully its mostly fat...

30kg x 10

50kg x 3

57.5kg x 3

60kg x 3

62.5kg x 9 rep max but not quite overall PR

Incline

50kg x 10

45kg x 10

42.5kg x 10

40kg x 10

30kg x 10

Chin-ups

5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

Curlz

ahhh time for a feed

I like this Home made gym thing man!

Recon you could post some pics of it?

Yeah man theres some pics near the start of my journal. It's pretty nasty haha but f*ck, it does the job. Added some pins to it a few months back so I could squat from the top position not the bottom

I havent tried them yet, no. I could definitely use another leg compound though...

Theres no room in my garage is the only thing. I supposed I could do it on the driveway, how much weight do you ususally use on those suckers? Would have to clean the bar overhead onto my traps and cant do that with more than about 40kg probably...

Do it last in your routine and 40kg should be enough, if not, slow the rep and squeeze the motherfucking shit outta the quads!

I prefer walking lunges, so a driveway would be perfect. Just start with 20kg man, see how it feels and go from there.

Thanks MK and PD, gave lunges a go for the first time in my squat workout today.

Started off light with 20kg to get used to the movement, not too hard but got the mean jelly legs now...work should be fun tonight

Squats:

30kg x 5

50kg x 5

60kg x 3

75kg x 3

80kg x 3

85kg x 6 =102kg estimated 1rm. Just 1kg off where I should be now, so should smash it next week.

55kg x 10

55kg x 10

55kg x 10

55kg x 10

55kg x 5

Think I will try and make a roman chair/glute ham raise/hyperextension device tomorrow, or at least plan it out.

Pix when built? 8)

Oh but of course

You still on the accutane or whatever it was you were taking?

Yup, about ten weeks in I think. Going for more bloodwork tomorrow. It all seems to be going well, back is clearing up nicely... Squatting without a puss pad once more 8)

Side effects are fairly interesting but nothing too bad, definitely not as bad as the innuhnet hype so I'm well pleased at this stage.
