:? An ok day today.........NOT!

Feeling a little cross that I went right till 4.30pm and then when I was making every ones dinner I realized I had not planned what I was eating  So I had what they had  fish and chips it was grilled and I added no oil not that that makes it ok AGRR then I thought oh well and had two pieces of chocolate hokey pokey ...Oh no and tomorrows my birthday and there will be no cheats at all now (not that I'm going out to eat,but will be on Sat and was hoping for indian  ).I really can't believe I did that all day I have not felt hungry and quite content then WHAM one thing lead to another!

I feels so bad seeing this written but I have to be honest and admitting it will hopefully make me remember how it made me feel!

So tomorrow is my birthday and because I can't make the gym I'll need to do back and biceps on Friday with legs which will be ok.

Happy birthday!

I might be reading this wrong, but it sounds like you might be getting into a situation where you have a bit of a cheat or badly planned meal then beat yourself up about it then think "oh hell, I've ruined today so might as well keep eating crap". My feeling on this is that it is a very negative frame of mind to get into, and won't help your cause - so stop thinking that way!

You're not dieting for a competition, and from what you've said you're looking for a lifestyle change in terms of your eating, so there is no need for you to be obsessing about every scrap you put in your mouth. You don't need to live on grilled chicken breasts or any kind of bland food. Actually, I never have just that for my dinner, and I've still managed to lose weight this year, build a wee bit of muscle, and feel better than I have in years.

If you slip up, just move on. Don't obsess. Example: the other day I had some leftover Hobnob biscuits from making cheesecake to take to my friend's place. I wanted to eat one to see what they were like. I ate 4. Fortunately for me it was around midday, so I just grabbed the pack, worked out how many calories/fat/carbs/protein were in those 4 biscuits, and incorporated it into my day.

I appreciate that by dinner time you're probably running out of free calories for the day - but there are very easy ways of adjusting the family meal so that you can enjoy it too, but perhaps not in full. Fish and chips? Why not just eat the fish and not the chips - my mum always used to have fish and salad when she was trying to lose weight. Or remove the batter on the fish. Or if you don't have salad, you're bound to have some other frozen veges - so do them.

I eat the same basic meal as my (slightly overweight) husband every night, but I modify it very easily so that we can enjoy dinner together but without sabotaging my efforts. We eat a lot of Asian curry type food - I don't have the rice, but have spinach instead. Easy - get to have a lovely Thai curry without feeling like a pig and get to eat dinner without feeling deprived.

Thanks soooooo much for that I really needed that, thanks for the support.

The reason it got me cross was not really the fact that I did not stick to my plan with my healthy eating it was having to write it on here LOL I really was not to hang up about it , the advice you gave about adapting things is great advice and one I will take on board.

Thanks for the happy birthday so far it's a start to great day!!
