What's your favourite training/bodybuilding film?

I just watched Strong, which is a short (~50 mins) documentary about Joe DeFranco's gym in the States. It's a pretty cool flick, with some very hardcore training, but it was a little short and didn't go into as much depth as I would have liked with some aspects.

I also enjoyed Bigger Stronger Faster, especially the even-handed coverage of steroid use. Although it's nothing that I want to pursue, I think that the level of hype spouted against steroids by politicians is ridiculous and they shouldn't be so heavily controlled.

But my favourite muscle flick is the classic Pumping Iron, which covers the "golden days" of bodybuilding in my mind. I've always been an Arnie fan and watching him and his peers train and compete was a real blast!

Have you guys seen these films?

Have you seen others that you prefer?

Pumping Iron really is a classic and IMHO nothing will ever surpass it in the world of BBing!

Bigger, Faster Stronger is a good objective doco, and is freggin funny to boot. Top effort Mr Bell

Power Unlimited is a good PLing doco (kinda like PLing's Pumping Iron). Some awesome footage - esp of Captain Kawoski and Lee Moran hitting the first 1000lb squat (knocked out on first attempt, plates flipped off on second & somehow made the third attempt!

).

Most of the training videos I've seen are about as good as a flex magazine! :pfft: Although I quite liked Dorian's Blood n Guts (apart from the loudmouth training partner......"C'mon Diesel" :pfft: ).

Completely agree with all of this.

I honestly didnt find Pumping Iron any good. I mean the training sessions...we dont really get to see Arnie's REAL training....the whole thing was acted anyway which Arnie himself tells you.

I felt it lacked big time. Im a big fan of Arnie and yeh there were some ok parts in Pumping Iron but something was mising.

Am I the only one who thinks this? :-s

I don't think you can go past pumping iron. the show focuses on loads of different BB and all the other aspects of the sport. but if it is just a work out movie i think Dorian Yates' blood sweat and tears. not only because of the sound track but the personal attachment as I worked out in the gym with the big guys. :)

I'm in complete shock. I watch Pumping Iron regularly. I think it is the best movie ever, not just the best training/bodybuilding movie ever. The lines are incredible and give you great material when you are training. Such as:

"c'mon Eddie, I want to see two more, no matter what".

You may be the only one who is a non believer. But good on you for being an individual. :)
