PD: Pretty sure he's low carb so it'd be dumb to have a low fat content. You should know that as a PT: either low fat/high carb or high fat/low carb.

Keep going Ronin- made heaps of progress mate, sticking to one thing does wonders aye- good shit mate!!

Just because he's doing keto doesn't mean you eat fat for the sake of meeting some type of quota

Um, what's fluff?

Jelly Fluff. I'm sure I've posted the recipe elsewhere, but just for you CC

Pack of WW jelly, made up as per instructions. Once set, add 250g tub of cottage cheese and 2 serves of PP. Mix very well. Makes 2 serves. Have a bit of a play around with it. I find if I mix it in the magic bullet, then put it back in the fridge, it comes out like instant pudding.

Lately I've been adding about 50ml of cream at the end of the mixing process, and it makes it really yummy. Great on keto cos it adds some extra fat cals, with very minimal carbs. Not so sure if that'll workfor all you non-keto types out there.

Fluff FTW

Oh I thought the name sounded familiar - that recipe does sound familiar, so you probably did post it before. Sounds interesting - might even give it a try. Is it better than sludge? - because I'm pretty sold on sludge as a pre-bed snack.

Haha, bro he's aiming to get leaner so the quota is to keep a caloric deficit without making the gap too drastic. Keto diets are below 50g of carbs a day so you should know that he needs to meet his balance somehow and with fat/proteins. Not trying to be a smartass man, but just let the guy do his thing. Unless its something positive you've got to say, just kick back

Done keto before mate so know what I'm talking about, as I have already said, his diet, his choice, just asked a question

Is your bacon some how lean?

Nope :pfft:

And I cook it in butter. And I eat whole eggs.

Whole eggs are great but bacon is terrible for any weight loss diet but it's your diet so do as you please, was just curious to know

Agreed. You are doing keto diet not the Atkins diet. Sure you want to get your fats in but not all fats are created equal. Ditch the bacon and save it for special occasions.

Cheers for the input fellas. All opinions are always welcome. My journal isn't here so that I can skite about my girly weights, it's so that I can get some feedback and ideas from people who share my interests. Plus, the fact that PD had the balls to get on stage wearing nothing but his knickers and a fake tan gives him the right to dispense a bit of advice, in my book  .

As it happens, you're probably right on this one. While I disagree about having bacon per se, I probably have been having a bit too much of it. The reason for that is that I got a shitload of it at a great price, but now it's getting towards the end of it's best-before time, and I hate to throw food away. So I've had some days of having it twice. However I've only got a couple of days worth left, and to be honest, could do without seeing bacon for a little while (never thought I'd say that :pfft: ).

I had been planning on sticking with my current eating plan til the end of October and then re-evaluating. However, after a chat with my trainer today, I might be bringing it forward to next week. Still just in the pondering stage for now, and considering what to do next. Watch this space lol.

Aaah, yeah, umm, momentary lapse of reason there MG, but it's ok I'm back now. Bacon rocks :haha:

Hey dude, hope you don't feel like I was attacking you about it

Na not at all bro, like I said, I'm here to learn, so I'm happy to take on board most opinions for consideration.

Hell it's nice to know people bother to read my mental meanderings

Oh I thought the name sounded familiar - that recipe does sound familiar, so you probably did post it before. Sounds interesting - might even give it a try. Is it better than sludge? - because I'm pretty sold on sludge as a pre-bed snack.

Not sure about "better"...I'd say it was another option. I'm also a fan of sludge. Fluff's "lighter" than sludge. And given that about half it's volume is from water, it's fairly low-cal and low-fat as well as being low-carb (especially if you don't add the cream). About the biggest advantage would be that the cottage cheese provides cassein, which is apparently good at night because it's a slow-releasing protein. How much difference that makes in practical terms, I have no idea. But hell, give it a crack, I'd like to hear your opinion of it.

Yeah it's Weight Watchers jelly.

So each serve of fluff has 18cal, 2.8g pro, 0 fat, 0.4g carb, less than 0.1g sugar, from the jelly.

Straight gelatin is pretty much 100% protein, but tastes like rancid arse, so it's the flavours and sweeteners that add carbs to standard jelly.

Will indeed give it a crack. Like the idea of casein before bed - I've tried cottage cheese a couple of times before bed but it's a bit blah on its own so I tend to keep going back to sludge.

Yeah gotta agree there, I'm pretty sure cottage cheese was invented as the result of a booze-fuelled dare

Today

Bacon & eggs

280g schnitzel with chilli

6 eggs, scrambled with cinnamon

Fluff

90.6kg

Xtrainer 20min, 341cal

Light Day

Squat

4 x 5, top set 87.5kg

OHP

3 x 5, top set 42.5kg

3 x 5, 47.5kg

Deads

4 x 5, top set 145kg

1 x 162.5kg PB

1 x 165kg PB

1 x 167.5kg PB

1 x 170kg PB

Calf Raise

2 x 8 x 257kg

7 x 257kg

Previous best on deads was 160, and I haven't been able to do that for a while. Last week I tried 162.5 and moved it an inch or two. Today, for some reason, it went up easy(ish). So I had a crack at 165. Good as gold. Each time I thought "I'll just try one more, then stop" but they were going up so well, and I was getting a real buzz out of it, so just kept going. It's possible that I could've knocked over another PB, but 170 required a fair bit of yelling at the bar, and it moved up slowly (but smoothly), so I figured I'd rather be satisfied with that and finish on a high note rather than a fail. Pretty chuffed really, especially considering I'm carb-free and fasted. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I think it bodes well for my eventual return to "normal" eating.

Mmmmmm fluff, where have you been all my life?

I've just finished my first serving and it was yummylicious. I had a double strawberry one, with strawberry jelly and strawberry Eat Me. Decided that one sachet of jelly and 250g of cottage cheese made way too much for two servings for me for a pre bed snack, so tried it divided by 3 - still had fewer calories than my standard serving of sludge, almost twice as much protein and a tenth of the fat. A whole gram more of carbs, but given the other positives I can live with that - and also because there is so much more in terms of volume, I don't feel tempted to have another serving. Oh and there's the casein.

All in all a brilliant new thing to add to my menu - thanks Ronin!

So what flavour combos have you had? What's good? At the moment I've only got strawberry and chocolate protein powders - need some vanilla so I can have a delicious pineapple jelly fluff! Oh the possibilities!

Never really realized just how much difference there was between raw and cooked weights...the tit I had tonight was 352g raw, but 207g cooked. On that note, which weight should be used when working out cals & macros? If a table states that 100g of "x" has "y" cals, then obviously daily totals will have quite a bit of variance depending on which figure is used. Is there a standard practice that everyone but me is aware of?

Dunno if you got an answer, but what I did was some sampling 'raw' vs 'cooked'. From memory, 100g raw chicken breast was 80g after george-ing, but 100g of rump eq 50g cooked. But at least if I know the macros for raw and do the maths that way, I know that the cooked portions are.

Woohoo, another convert

I prefer the raspberry and blackberry jellies, and started out using them with choc powder. Now I just use natural PP. I have some vanilla essence, but haven't got round to adding it yet, although that is on the to-do list. I'm also going to try working cinnamon in there somewhere.

Keep me posted

Cheers TFB, bit of a difference eh?

So if a particular food label or chart says that (for example) 100g of Takahe breast has 100cal, 40g protein, but when it's cooked it only weighs 75g...do I use 75cal and 30g protein? Or the raw values? Or is it just fluid content that disappears during cooking, so the macronutrient values remain unchanged? Or am I just being too anal about this?
