Talk to big Craig before you commit to anything though, he's a wise head!

I think Craig has got to big and his brain is running out of room, it keeps skipping on pumping iron quotes.

Log is all good, I would say 140kg+ for Fry by the end of the year. Hey Nate any prospect of an under 90's being introduced into NZSM? Until Tonka sends down that Taro shipment I won't get close to 105kg.

Taro is good for you. Make strong like Tonka truck!

Unlikely at this stage - too hard to get sponsorship to fund prizes for all events with 3 classes in this economy (on which note Boys Day Out SM comp in Hamilton next week was cancelled). Also many in SM wish to minimise classes so that it doesn't become like PLing / Oly lifting with too many classes.

U105 weights in NZ are typically light (as are most NZL comps which actually tend to combine classes and use same weights). If comps get too heavy not enough competitors finish event & it becomes boring to watch (& SM is designed as a spectator sport).

I'd say you'd go fine with a little implement practice...... I better stop there or Craig will have some choice words for me for poaching ESB's finest PLers!

05/03

Back feeling a bit tight and knee a little sore, so had a deload tonight. Starting to learn to listen to my body finally. Just practiced my squat and had a play around. Toes were right out to the rack which is wider than my where I'm most powerful raw, but still good practice and can't hurt hip strength (especially the adductors). Tried a high bar approach on some of my sets, I can stay more upright this way but I definitely lose even more overall power like that. Low bar was feeling really tight and strong, though. Only worked up to 180x5 and had Alf calling me on depth. Need to stretch out my hip flexors a bit.

Really want to smash that 280 raw squat at Canterbury champs, then have a go at 290-300. Will start to go heavier next week, bring it on!

Thanks, steak. I'm sure whatever motivation I provide I get back in double from you guys, this journal section is great for that!

Good call re: listening to the body Mike! Too often we dont...... and we pay!

Those raw numbers sound insane compared to when I met you a few years ago now as a scrawny teenager! Hard mahi pays dividends - the crew you have at ESB is second to none in the South and on a par with the PH & Gillies Crews. Big ups to good training partners!

Keep it up - how far til comp day?

Same as last week on reverse band, a little disappointing. Think there was less band tension. Come to the conclusion I don't like this exercise, the bands lock you into a straight line. Gunna do some manpon next week with some chains.

Triceps are getting stronger, 65x5 was PB completely fresh.

Think I'm still a wee way off that, cheers bro.

To easy man  and no nose bleed means there must be more in the tank. Looking forward to the 24 April, the Doc had better start stretching.

What happened to the video's from the bench we did? Did you forget to post them?

They came out real shit quality. I can't see myself, just see the bar going up and down, it's kinda creepy. I think someone put a curse on my bench. Yours are fine though if you want me to stick em up, or save I'll them for the Leighton Best tribute video.

Cardio 40 mins walking

Wide grip pulldowns 100x10 120x10 170x10 220x10 3x240x10

Strength down a bit today, I think Monday's effort can account for that. Might have to stay away from heavy singles like that leading up to this comp. I believe the term is CNS rootage.
