Yes - you have to do back...girls with a well developed back are hawt!

No - you can't skip it. A strong back now will save you from a world of pain later - both in pretty much any sport, and much much later when everyone else is stooped over!

No - it's not your hardest body part to work, unless you think it is. Believe that it's no harder than legs, and it won't be

Thanks heaps for your support everyone  I shall not give up on my useless back! Its just new territory and I guess it can only get easier from now on....oh and yes TFB i do envy those "hawt" chicks with a well developed back. I don't like my chances of ever becoming one, but I can sure give it my best shot.

wide grip pullups are difficult, start with under hand chin ups first and progress to wide grip pullups! It's taken me more than a month to be able to do one chinup -close grip! I hope to progress to wide grip by the end of the year??!!!

Woopsies :shifty: i had no idea! Cheers for that, under hand chin ups it is. Well done on the chinup achivement though, Keep up the good work! \:D/ They seem to be the ultimate prized move around here.....

If you've never done these exercises before then it'll take a little while before you get the technique down pat, and build up some strength. Do you have a training partner or PT to check your technique?

Remember, good things take time and you'll be hammering your back with the best of them in no time.

Nope i don't have a training partner or PT, but i have been studying/envying people's chinups/pullups for a while now, so I think i have a pretty good handle on the technique...unlike deadlifts  . Thanks for your encouragement though Sakura, i'll get there

Today i didn't want to spend my entire workout doing just cardio, so I went back to the beginning of my split :shifty: ( Chest/Biceps).

I would prefer to expand another muscle group into a seperate day though...... Any advice as to what muscle group should I focus on? Split currently looks like this:

  • Day one: Chest/ biceps
Day Two: Legs (quads, hams, calves)
    Day Three: Shoulders-Abs
    Day Four: Back-triceps
Day Five: ___________(insert suggestion here) _________

Legs:

10 Mins Treadmill HIIT - 30 sec @ 18km, 30 sec rest (90% HR)

...May I just say It is SO NOT COOL when you get huge electric shocks from the sides of the tredmill every time you jump back on  hence the insanely high HR … too shit scared to jump off. Ha that would be a great PT motivation tool! :pfft:

Squats 10x4 @ 20kg

Question: is the bar supposed to hurt your shoulders/neck with the pressure, or am I doing something completely wrong? :?

Lunges 9kg 8x3

Leg Press

120X9 (ow)

118x12x3

Mountain climbers 3x 20

Leg extension 52kg 12x3

Lying Leg Curl 37kg 15x3

Glute machine 57kg 15x3 (each leg)

Hip adduction 64kg 12 x 3

Hip abduction 64 kg 12 x 3

Cardio: 30 mins cross training - 70-80% HR

Anyone seen someone do a dance routine on a treadmill whilst running at about 13kmph? I Highly recommend it to pass the time. The young (and hot) guy started with skipping, then the skipping got more pronounced and then he started doing what were clearly dance moves, and finished off with some air-boxing. Highly impressive and strange all at once.

P.s I skipped the stiff leg deadlifts :shifty: ….. Woops. Surely that’s okay though, are they that valuable? :-s

I have the same problem(only on smith machine), unless i wrap the foam thingee around it. The bar should rest just below bottom of your neck, Is that correct anyone?

You don't need to do stiff-legs, but they are good for great hamstrings.... seated leg curls, lying leg curls, db leg curls, to name a few options.

FAIL... I don't deserve a journal...

That's enough of that law chick, it's absolute rubbish talk. You've worked so hard for great results, far better than many others. And you're going out of your way to try and learn new stuff. Which makes you more amazing. Lots of people do the same shit over and over. But not you.

Pull-ups are hard. Especially for chicks. So don't beat yourself up.

So It seems i have completely ignored my back till now

Perfect opportunity to rectify the situation thereby leading to much more awesomeness. A strong back is King, regardless of it's muscled-ness.

Will someone please tell me working the back muscle groups are the hardest? Or even better, that i can just skip it all together?

No. See above

Negative Wide-grip pullups... These are so freakin hard, even the negative ones. I have NO chance of ever doing the proper ones

As Vee said, start with chin-ups. And persist. Avoid machines. Just try doing a couple every day. After a few weeks you'll notice you can lift yourself higher etc.

10 Ways To Get Stronger at Pull-ups Fast:

"3. Do Chin-ups. Chin-ups (palms facing you) are easier than Pull-ups (palms away). Start with Chin-ups. Once you can do 5 reps with proper technique switch to Pull-ups. You’ll be able to do at least 1 rep.

7. Grease the groove. Do 1 Chin-up every time you pass the bar.

8. Do Multiple Sets of Low Reps. Start with 10 sets of 1... Take as much rest between sets as you can. When 10×1 gets easy, switch to 10×2. Continue until you can do 10 sets of 5.

10. Believe. Drop your excuses. You're not too heavy and being a woman or old doesn't matter..."

You're doing really well Emmzies

Aww... thank ya for all your encouragement Rose. You guys are all such an awesome source of support, particually for such noobs, i really appreciate it. Normally I am just one of those people that sticks with the same things over and over like you said, and if it weren't for you guys i probably still would be.

I shall keep on keeping on with the back and the chin-ups! :D

Its lucky he's hot otherwise you probably would've been telling us about crazy weirdo on the treadmill lol :pfft:

Ah bless those hot boys..........

Your so right : if he had been old/fugley I would have been fully creeped out :pfft: The benefits of having a pretty face ay.

Today: Shoulders-Abs

• Cardio round one: 30 min run (NOT on the treadmill, yay for spring!) - 70-80% HR

• Front raises

8kg 12x2

9kg 12x2

10kg 10 x 1

• Side Delt Raises

8kg 12x2

9kg 10 x2

• Rear delt flies

30kg 12x1

20kg 12x2 (these hurt! )

• Push ups 10x4

(with about 20x4 mountain climbers inbetween)

• Shoulder press (machine)

12x3 @ unknown-weakling-weight

• Ab crunches (on sb) 30x3

• Medicine ball twists 6kg 15x3

• Side plank

30 sec holds each side x 2

1 min holds each side x 2 (yays)

• Leg raises 10x3

• Cardio round 2: Another 30 min sunshine run at 80% HR :D

I got a little carried away with the beautiful day and couldn't resist the cardio overload. Whole workout was under 2 hours and over 1000 cals. Not sure how I managed that on two hours sleep, but fark I've missed running!

The monotonous cross trainer can go shove it now that the blossoms out in force \:D/ .......unless treadmill-dancer-guy is putting on another show in the cardio theatre.

Hmmm I forgot about posting diet….Perhaps I should:

M1: 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup milk, a peach and a small apple

M2: 25g Beef Jerky (FTW  … unless someone can tell me otherwise?) and half a sculpt bar

M3: 3 Egg whites, 1 whole egg (!!!) 200g tuna, carrot, zucchini and lots of chilli and garlic

M4: Apple, small can tuna, coffee

M5: Stirfry

M6: Coffee x 7 (predicted all nighter  )

Oh and 4.5 L Water.
