Thanks for all the comments guys :)

This is my my second shot at the 70-80kg Novice.

I came 2nd last year and i got the bug now (haha) and I want the title real bad :D

I was underthe idea that you can compete in a NOVICE class only once.

After that you had to move over to the appropriate grade. Is this a misunderstanding ?

You can keep competing as a Novice until you actually 'win' a class.

Then you have to move up to the Open classes.

From http://www.nzfbb.org.nz/Rules/rules.htm

4.0 DEFINITION OF NOVICE STATUS

4.1 A Novice Competitor (Men or Women) is a Competitor who:

(a) Has never won a contest (regional or otherwise); or

(b) Has moved from a restricted age group (Teenagers, Juniors or Masters).

4.2 A Novice Competitor who has placed First, Second or third in any Regional Competition shall remained as a Novice Competitor for that entire year up to & until that same year NZ National.

4.3 A Novice Competitor who has place First, Second or third in the Nationals is an OPEN class competitor from the end of that Nationals. A Novice Competitor who has placed first second or third in a Regional Contest but does not enter or place in the top three at the Nationals in those 12 months is an OPEN Competitor.

4.4 A Master (Women or Men) who has placed in the top 3 at any Regional or National event can no longer enter as a novice competitor. They can only enter as a Master or an Open competitor. (NATIONAL'S QUALIFING CLAUSE APPLIES).

...so as I read that, you'd be in the Open class? Don't worry - I don't think you'd be out of your depth anyway. You're looking great, especially nice bicep peaks. Good overall symmetry and posing, too. How long have you been training?

i was going to say that too pseudo. sorry dude but you only get one shot at the novice title if you make the top three. but i reckon for your weight class you'll do well in the standard class. :)

Unfortunately you're right :(

I just recieved a reply from a mail I sent to the NZFBB and it confirmed what you've just said.

I'm a bit flustered now, I had mentally prepared myself for the level of competition in the Novice class and now I feel a little out of my depth...

Thanks :)

I've been training seriously since about 2002, so yeah... 3 years.

You're looking good man, I wouldn't worry about being out of your depth - you might surprise yourself

your conditioning is good bro.

Thanks Marcus. I am a lot sharper right now (2 weeks out) than in those photos. I guess it all comes down to who'll be there on the day.
