August 22nd - Biceps and truck pulling

Went and caught up with Nate and some of his strongman mates. Was given the chance to do a solo pull on a 10 ton loaded truck, managed to pull it off. Cheers Nate, it was a good experience.

Bro..did you capture the truck pull on vid???

Cheers Nate. lol yeah i did suprise myself haha. when it started moving i sort of stopped for a split second to comprehend if it was me moving it or if i was imagining it.

I think i started a bit average but then worked out the take little steps thing and it felt tidier toward the end but i'm sure the vid will look a lot different. I'm not sure what the distance was... Nate will confirm i'm sure.

August 24th - chest

Possibly the worst workout i have ever had. Mind wasn't right, feeling weak and the pain in my forearms has come back something chronic!!!

Flat Bench - 10@100, 10@110, 10@120, 5@130

Incline Bench - 10@60, 10@100, 5@110 then re adjusted hands from slipage for another 2@120

Decline Bench - 10@60, 10@100, 10@110

Incline flys - 10@20, 10@22, 10@24

Quick alternating fast reps 70kg on pec dec and 100kg on bench machine 2 of each.

Then i pulled the pin, forearms to sore and was just an overall crap session, gutted!!! Hopefully tommorow will be a better day!

You need to sort this ASAP!

Is it the brachialis strain most BBers / PLers get at some stage? Or the shin splints type pain?

Either way try Voltaren when it's acute (i.e. you've just trained & it's screaming at you! ). This will drop the initial imflammation somewhat. Then use ice and / or compression to further reduce ove 48 hours or so. Begin basic rehab as soon as humanly possible - use heat (or better still hot / cold contrast) and get some physio or massage. Learn the stretches that benefit most. Check out this article on why tradition RICE approach sucks and why you should actively rehab it: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/evolu ... _rehab.htm

Best to sort before it turns into a more severe longterm injury (or causes another injury), of interest a recent study of Strongman biceps tears (mainly due to tyre flip) showed almost all had chronic biceps or elbow injuries prior to the acute tear.

May also pay to avoid those exercises that really cause a flare up whilst you are focused on rehabbing it. If you want specifics on my forearm rheab work (which sorted my bilateral forearm pain) let me know?

Hope this helps.

Nate

PS your video is up.

Thank you for that Nate. I agree, i really need to get ontop of it. The pain has flared up since bicep training on Saturday so i will have to stop training them until the pain is gone(i have a feeling this will be months)! Hopefully that's not too long.

I did see the vid haha, thankyou for putting that up. I look a little retarded with my steping, but it did the trick.

Today - rest day! My arms need it.

Tomorrow i will probably train legs to give my arms even more of a break. Going to try 10@110kg for squats next leg session.

And here is the truck pull for anybody that is keen:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6790&p=135035#p135035

Bottom of the page.

Maybe tape the top of your forearms and adopt a wide grip on squats just for tomorrow (out by collars).

Many PLers elbow injuries (I realise yours in more forearm) are caused by squatting.

Thank you for the info Nate, will give it a whirl. Also going to do some deep research on this forearm pain.

right20forearm202.gif

I also found a pic which shows where my pain comes from. The left sketch of the "Flexor carpi ulnarus m" is what is hurting. When i move my little finger i can feel slight pain through that entire bit of muscle. When i lift i have a deep and intense pain through the entire muscle and after a heavy train the pain is mainly located where the muscle attaches to the bone about 3cm below the elbow and a little near the wrist.

The most intese pain is when releasing weights. If i am to put a weight down on a rack i have to release my grip very slowly so it doesn't hurt so much.

Not a bad session but was feeling rather weak. I'm guessing as i had no water today and only had a Mocha for morning smoko! (plus a little food during the day). I'm starting to realise the significance of proper nutrition so i am going to sift through some journals and perhaps follow one as a base.

Also thought i would take a back pic. Please go easy on me, first pic i have ever taken like this and it is on the piss (timer & trying to stand in the right place etc) hence why symmetry looks slightly off but meh. You will also notice i need to strip a bit of fat, you can see it on my hips. Also i wear size 36 jeans and have wide hips so the v taper is rather subtle (atleast that's what i think??). I also think my biceps are lagging, this is due to not being able to train them because of problems in my forearms :(

Yay we like pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \:D/

Looking good IronHyde 8) May we see a front pic now??

Haha thanks...No front pics yet :P need to cut down a little BF first

I have done no cardio for around two months. Only a bit of walking at work when i am surveying. So once i start with some good cardio the BF percentage should drop and i will then put a pic up.

Wow, awesome shoulder/arms combo you go there Ironhyde! Lats are looking good too

Cheers PnW, it's coming along.

Well i thought there would be more feedback on the pic, ah well. And i am out of town for work tonight. Was suppose to be staying away tommorow night but there is a crime scene back home to be surveyed so i have to get back home for that. So no training tonight!
