Hi every one!

Its about time id introduce myself to this helpful web site, i joined a while ago but never did use it much until recently when i started browsing through the threads and the forms to get info about things. I found it very helpful and no doubt will be better in the future. I have been training since i was 16 years old, i was very skinny at that time and i managed to pack on very good size and strength gains over the years. I also do a bit of martial arts for fun some times

26 inch waist !! You're the prefect height for bbing mate - if you can maintain that waist line proportionally as you grow ... thats a definate advantage. look forward to seeing your progress.

....

Calves ... I prefer to maxx load them by doing full range of motion reps for say 12 at a mod weight and then holding the contraction at the peak and just pulsing until my ears bleed :pfft: The pulsing movement is similar to skipping which is another great exercise for calves. Damn hurts!

I can maintain my waste line no probs even if i gain little bit of fat i can easily lose it, that pic was taken when i wasnt training for 3 weeks due to a tennis elbow and i got a lot leaner in that period.

I have tried all kinds heavy weight, light weight, high reps and low reps, and i reckon best is do a mixture off both and heaps of sets. Form is also important, my calves still sore from sunday much better then yesterday though. I think i just need to train them more frequently 2-3 times a week and i hope to see improvements.

Welcome aboard beast...as the others say ..you are well on your way....On the calves side of things...I think half of it is genetics! I have a brother who has calves that are awesome and he does nothing! Other than than I have always found using the leg press as a calf raise machine has been of great benefit,so between leg press sets, whack out some calf raises, and give them a good long stretch. I struggle with the inner part of the calf head..so others may have better tips...good on you for getting off the sidelines!

Cheers mate, It is true that it is genetics, my older brother has much better and bigger calves then me. I guess he got my mum's side and i got my dad's lol. Yep i always do that when i use the leg press, its pretty good but you have to bit heaps of weight on it though.

Gidday 88 and welcome aboard. Like you said, you can learn a shitload here. The best thing about the advice on here is its real life stuff  . And yeah, I strongly believe genetics play a big part in what your calves are like. My background before I competed for first time last yr was running (marathons in particluar) and I have great calves - but everything else rather average in comparison :( Experiment a little, keeps it interesting if nothing else
