How did week 3 of 5x5 start ?

So far so good. Really enjoying the 5x5, and today will be my light day, so hoping there aren't too many Sevens players getting in my way.

Much as I'm enjoying the 5x5, I think I'll probably only do it for a week or so more, then will switch to some kind of push pull thing. This is mainly because I need a programme that maximises my Sat and Sun workouts, as my new manager will be moving to Wellington in the next couple of weeks, and I won't be able to get away with the long lunches I've been taking recently to fit in my workouts :pfft:

Currently because of the day on, day off 5x5 system, I'm doing a lovely big heavy session on the Saturday, then just fannying about with abs and bugger all else on a Sunday, spin Mon, Wed, Fri. Then my Tues and Thurs weights sessions take almost an hour (plus walking to and from gym time).

I recall doing a very good push pull a year or two ago, so I might have another trawl through here and see if I can find it (still have all my hard copy notebooks too), and might base something around that. Think the new manager turns up mid next week, so that will give me a 4 week 5x5 - would have preferred 6 weeks, but I think this four weeker has given me the kick up the arse I needed to get started a bit more seriously again.

There are days when having an office looking over the rail yard sucks.. but Sevens Friday isn't one of them :)

Yeah, I miss my old Vogel Building office where I could watch them all arriving, while counting down til I could get changed and join them!

Awesome to see ya back CC! Ha not that I can talk lol I haven't logged my training in AGES! :pfft:

2 More Sleeps!!

I've still been lurking, reading all your journals and feeling slack and lazy that I'm nowhere near as strong as the likes of you and Vee

Can't WAIT til the weekend! Been trying to tan like crazy, since I fear I can't get lovely hot legs between now and Friday but as we all know brown fat looks better than white fat, so trying to get the legs as brown as possible in readiness for the super short dress!

Hehe, i've got short shorts so pretty much in same boat, although we've had such beautiful weather in the Mount so luckily i've been able to brown up :D

We are so useless, only booked accommodation yesterday. Lucky we found somewhere!! So road trip begins 8am Friday morning, i'll try to hold off drinking till at least 10 LOL jokes. I've been so super good, come Friday I wouldn't have touched a drop of booze in 15 days! And with staying down the Mount with the pubs virtually on your doorstep that's Good! :pfft:

Wow, hope you didn't have to pay a stupidly high price for the accommodation at the last minute.

Good idea not drinking for a couple of weeks before - you'll be a cheap date!

Ohh you used to be in Vogel? I'm pretty much directly above the Thistle, pretty good view not far from my desk of the concourse and stuff.

Yeah, I was there for three years, 8th floor, but we got booted out when it got refurbished and they put the rents up so that piddly wee crown entities like us couldn't afford to stay, boo, so now I'm miles away on the bloody Terrace. Need a new job closer to the gym!

Fake tan? It's way quicker and easier than the real thing!

Unfortunately I come out in a rash with every single fake tan I've ever tried, so it's a no go

Shit a brick, that's expensive!

So my light day was all good. Kenyans to look at in the 10.30-11.30 slot, Canadians were just leaving. Fortunately they left me a squat rack, though it was the facing-the-wrong-way one that I'm not so keen on - but better than the Smith!

And stupid sun went away, so no opportunity for a tan top up today.

We KNOWZ you know where it is.... and of course that costume's going to take up soooooooooo much space in your luggage there's no room for some trainers and stuff. You COULD always train in your Sevens outfit...

smiley-signs108.gifWe now return you to your normal programme :)

And Victoria St isn't a million miles away from the House either, so I'm sure you could fit in a Saturday morning train before the second day of partying :pfft: (kidding of course!!)

They certainly all sound like a lovely supportive bunch. Maybe one day I'll venture over that side of town.

So I had Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. Either getting ready for Sevens, at Sevens or recovering from Sevens.

Back to normal on Monday, with my heavy day. All good except I got attacked by a 22kg oly bar that decided to leap off the rack (that cage type rack at J'ville) and whack me in the leg and foot  I've used that cage/rack for years and never had any mishaps, but yesterday for some reason I guess I just didn't rest it on the resty bits properly and it rolled off. Luckily for me I'd finished squats and was doing bent over rows so it was down much lower and only bashed my thigh instead of my head - really nice bruise that came up right away that I'm quite pleased with.

So to get myself back in alignment with my weights/spin days I did my light day today with no day off from weights. Probably won't kill me.

Working from home today so did an early session at J'ville - quite busy there at 6.30am in the man cave, I was quite surprised.

Kept an eye on the Station concourse, didn't recognise you in the throng... how was it ?

You've got to watch that cage - even tho it's been years since i was down in the J'ville man-cave, I can still remember some of the clanky gear down there... I swear, it needs to taste blood sometimes

Not much to report lately. Had a bit of a break from the gym while I did a walking challenge, and I was on a winning team once again - my team won the prize for the highest average number of kilometres per person, with a prize of a $200 Shoe Clinic voucher each! Brilliant prize and makes a change from the 2 Logan Brown lunches I've won in the other walking challenges.

Will be back into it next week. This week has been a bit of a flurry of activity, as today is my last day at my current job, then I'm away over the weekend then have next week off - so will be back into the swing of gymming again. Might find some time next week to have a look around the Willeston St CF since that will be my new lunchtime gym, just around the corner from my new office.
