Chillicat's journal

Thanks chick! Well, nothing much to read today - I really wanted to go to gym today, and was looking forward to my Saturday upper body workout, but I'm just too full of DOMS today, so gave it a miss. Problem is I can't go tomorrow. Should have just sucked it up and gone today, but too late now, as off out soon. Nevermind. Next weekend I have a completely free weekend, so I'll make sure I go both days and get properly started taking things seriously.

I've got a dinner thing tonight and a lunch thing tomorrow, so will try to do the best I can - but both things are at people's houses, so let's face it, I'll probably just pig out and eat everything! But I've pretty much gone off drinking now, so at least I'll save some calories by not drinking tonight!

Monday = National Bench Day

Nice to see you back into it CC....

Yeah, and since I normally avoid that by doing it on a Saturday, I went early to make sure I got a bench (and so that no one would see me lifting my itsy bitsy weights!)

Have had a successful week (well, ok 4 days!) of getting the eating back on track, and I feel bloody great!

Started a food journal on Monday. My weight is at the same upper weight I started my 'cut' (of sorts) at last year, so didn't need to work out calories for weight loss, it was all there in last year's journal. I and started by putting in what I planned to eat for the day, and found that I was under my required calories for weightloss (using maintenance minus 500) by about another 500 calories.

This is more or less what I'd been eating for the last couple of months, excluding all the wine and frujus and cheese, and a few cakey treats here and there - and of course all the extras (except the wine) were due to me being ravenously hungry in the evenings due to not eating enough during the day. Honestly, it's the same thing every time I ditch the journal, so I should have learnt by now, but I just can't seem to eat the right amount without the journal to keep a proper eye on things.

So I immediately worked out some ways of adding extra calories during the day so that I wasn't gnawing my arm off with hunger by the time I get home, so that I'm able to wait for my husband to come home without eating a giant chunk of cheese, fruju, handfuls of sultanas, or whatever.

That's worked very well, and even though it's only been four days I feel so much better. I don't feel like my stomach is a giant barrel, which is how I've been feeling the last few weeks. I've always been flat stomached, so having a gut really doesn't sit well with me, so feeling good.

So it's good that the food is back on track, because my walking frenzy ended today: tomorrow is April, so after 4 months of avoiding the train, I've now bought a train pass for April so will be commuting by train for probably the next 8 months til the sun comes out again. Very sad - I didn't miss the train one little bit.

Super awesome chest/tri and a wee bit of shoulders (because they need double work) workout today. Feeling great with .7kg shifted from my frame, and full of energy. Happy to have nothing much planned for the next few weekends so that I can have lots of good long workouts on both Sat and Sun, which hasn't been happening so far this year with all the summer activities. I guess that's one good thing about winter coming.

Pizza night tonight (note how I have scheduled weigh in day for a Friday morning :pfft: ) but I'm back to being less gluttonous with the pizza and stick to two (maaaaaaybe 3) slices and lots and lots of yummy salad with it. Hubby can have the leftovers for brekkie tomorrow

Do you have any snowboarding on the radar? I think I'm going to limit my weekends up Turoa this year. My training seems to go really well during the week then I'll ruin it with takeaways and booze after a good day up the mountain. I think I'll limit it to once a month even (if there's powder on the horizon). Which means no week in Queenstown this year unfortunately! How about you?

I don't think there will be much this year for us either. I'm not planning on buying a season pass, which I guess indicates how few times I reckon we'll go, as they generally pay for themselves with about 5 days on the mountain.

We'll be down south for a rugby world cup game (was to be Chch, now Dunedin) in Sept, and it coincides with my hubby's 40th, so to celebrate we'll definitely visit Mt Hutt while we're in the area. I'm sure we'll have a couple of weekends at Turoa, but with one thing and another, I think it'll just be a few days here and there this year.

We've also got a wee trip to Adelaide planned bang smack in the middle of snowboard season (well, there are pandas in Adelaide and that coincides with my birthday, so I get to choose what we do at that time!!), so that's another couple of weekends we won't have available to go boarding.

Good week this week. Went to gym a whole 5 times for the first time all year. The intention from now on is to go:

Sat - chest, tris, shoulders + one abs

Sun - all the leggy bits + one abs

Tue - Back and biceps + one abs

Wed - extra triceps and legs

Thur - extra shoulders and abs

This way I hit almost everything on the two days I have most time to have a quality non-rushed workout, and have time to spare in the week to hit my problem areas for a second time.

Also for the first time in ages I've made sure that I do abs more consistently, rather than just here and there when I can be bothered. I'm starting with one exercise after the first 3 workouts of the week, then a few on the Thursday to really hit them hard.

Food has been a bit iffy this week, but maintenance is fine (sneaky one day early check on the scales this morning has me at exactly the same as last week in both weight and BF, which all things considered is a very good result!). Will make more effort on that now.

My goals remain the same, simple as ever - not be a fat over-40 who's let herself go, and ideally to have a better body than some 20-somethings I know. So far I'm winning on that one!

Awesome workout this morning. Chest, tris and shoulders and there was enough time for 2x abs exercises, as well as an extra triceps exercise, so I must have spent less time resting and more time working today - a good result.

Must have been the 2 glasses of port last night :pfft:

Back and biceps today. Was going to do deads, but had to forgo them this week: forgot shorts, but fortunately had some emergency 3/4 pants in my gym bag - however, they're a bit gappy at the top (not elasticated) and the risk of a whale tail moment with all the bending down was too great to risk :pfft: so just did bent over rows instead.

Amazing abs workout on Thurs, to the extent that the abs are still feeling it today. Glad I've started dedicating a workout to several ab exercises as well as tagging an exercise to the end of each workout.

Didn't do any abs today though, since still too sore. But had a nice chest, tri and shoulder workout, with extra tris since I didn't do any abs.

Too much eating this week though. Ah well. And Easter next week. But my trip to the dentist this Monday for 3 fillings (one possibly a root canal :naughty: ) might put me off eating too much sugar over easter. Or not :pfft:

3 fillings. Nooooooooooo :?

Yeah, I'm getting a bulk buy discount  Two are in one tooth (top) and one biggie (possible root canal) at the bottom, so I've chosen soft food for dinner tonight

Appointment is around 4pm, so I won't have to go back to work with a wonky anesthetised face :pfft:

Owieeee

dentists are the  (devil)

:pfft:

Fully thing is, they do horrible hurty work, but I've always had really really super nice dentists, and this new guy I'm seeing at the Gentle Dental centre is absolutely lovely.

Eeek  Good luck with the dentist visit!

Thanks - listen out for screams between 4-4.30!

:ditto: what they said - oh, and well done for getting a workout in beforehand

I snuck in at lunchtime for a train but clearly you were so engrossed in your workout you didn't spot me (or my diet has worked beyond my wildest dreams  and you didn't recognise me :pfft: )

Hey you must be so svelte now that I missed you! Wow, well done you! Not sure how I could've missed you as there was hardly anyone there - but then again you're right about being engrossed - I knew I had to skip out of work early for the murder house so I was pretty focused on getting it done and getting back to work.

And the good news - no root canal \:D/ Face is all over the place though, and eating dinner was funny

Heya CC, tragically there's not a diet in the world could achieve that result  so I put it down to you having your 'game face' on - you'd just finished in the squat rack when I turned up.

Hooray for no root canal - but let's hope the dribbling and drooling stops before you go back to work

Three nice long workouts during the long weekend. Great to have some extra days to give it heaps. Sadly the chocolate to workout ratio is way off, and I've got some work to do to undo all the chocolatey goodness I've been partaking of in the last few days, not to mention dinner out on Sat and again tomorrow and a royal wedding feast to look forward to on Friday.

Oh dear!
