I'm not aiming for uber lean, but would like to get down around the 20 mark for BF.

You and me both CC!!

Yeah, I just want something realistic so that I look like I go to the gym, not all flabby like I am at the moment from 6 months of eating anything and everything so I can get big and strong!

What's the 500lb club??

Yeah, living is important too! I have mostly been off the booze this last month, just a couple of wines at the rugby the other week, but prior to that I was having a few more. Reckon I'll mostly stay off the booze for the next few months though, just on special occasions. Luckily we have an occasion each month with birthdays and anniversaries to mean it won't be too dry :pfft:

Yep I'm in the same boat as you two. I've had to ditch the booze from now on (after have a few big nights) as I've crept up to about 25% myself. The goal is 21/20% by spring/summer. I've often fantasized about being 18% but I find it quite difficult to diet past 20%.

D-Day is Sept 11, so time is ticking by.... need to make weight need to make weight :pfft:

What if we just drink Low Carb beer?? :pfft: Oh and vodka? I've been told that has no calories? Any truth in that do you know?

Hehe I've actually tried that low carb beer and it gives a heinous bloat! I think a couple vodka's and sugar free cranberry juice won't kill us but to be honest, I can never just stop at two! The ex-student in me seems to creep out and want more booze......

Oh cool thing to aim for. I reckon I'm about a year away from that - maybe I'll make that next year's goal. Nice to have a figure to aim for.

I'm such a cheap date these days - 2 wines/beers is about my limit, so I tend to wait til later (9 o'clock, wine o'clock) before having my first. I'm not a great spirit drinker, and definitely not when I'm out - don't know about other people, but I tend to feel completely sober on them, until I've had way too many, then boom, it hits me and I'm hammered and at passing out stage. So I don't mind a couple of g&ts every now and then, but never as a going out drink - there's never that fun merry stage I get with wine or beer, just either stone cold sober or pass out drunk, no in between.

  • 2 weeks later...
and a Happy Birthday to You :)

Celebrate with a PB or two

Thanks! I'll give it a go, but my body is feeling old and worn after a couple of days of snowboarding, so I might be lifting the pink weights today

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LEO TWIN :-)

Have a great day chillicat !!!!!

Cheers birthday buddy!

Update from you too missy

Yeah, I've been a bit slack. And I went away for the weekend, so I'm all behind with everyone's journals, so will have to find some time this evening to catch up on what everyone has been up to. It's amazing how many journal entries pop up when you disappear for a few days!

So hubby and I headed up to Ohakune over the weekend to finally get some snowboarding in. Saturday was closed, but Turoa was open both Sun (wet and windy) and Monday (sunny and hot) so we got a couple of days boarding in.

I thought it would be fun to wear my heart rate monitor to get a bit of an idea of how many calories I burn while boarding. Turns out it's around 480 per hour. I turned it off when I got on the lift, then back on when I got off, so it was also a great way of knowing exactly how long I spent boarding over the course of the day (not just sitting about on the lift or in the cafe defrosting).

Managed only 2 hours on the first day (just on 1000 calories - higher calories that day per hour possibly because of the shiver factor, and also because it was my first day in about 10 months or so, so it took a lot more work to do things to start with). Did 2 hours 40 on the second day (1300 calories). Could have made it up to a full 3 if I'd braved the faster 6 chair (but wasn't feeling confident), and if hubby hadn't wanted to leave by 3pm. Will htfu and get up the 6 chair next time.

As for eating and the diet, well, I didn't lose anything this week, which isn't too surprising as my eating was a bit higher than it should have been. But BF was slightly down, so all good.

I suspect I won't lose anything this week either after a weekend of piggery involving lamb shanks (yum!) and a mountain of mash. But I was always going to have this weekend away, as well as a birthday and hubby's birthday next month, so I figured it was better to just start the cut and factor all that in rather than wait til after the celebrations to start the new eating regime.

Going to have an easy week with the exercise this week. Was too sore to train yesterday so just went for a long walk at lunchtime. Will go to the gym later this morning and just do what I can, then do a pump class on Friday then will start a new version of what I've been doing on the weekend (another workout plan inspired by Pman).

Thanks all! Had a lovely day - nice long gym session followed by a hair cut and colour, so feeling fab.

Bloody typical the mountain is looking good now VC - we'll definitely be getting up there again soon, but I think hubby will have to wait a couple of weeks til he can take another Monday off :(

No workout for me today. Yesterday's session has left me in pain - after a whole 4 days off the weights it was just too much of a shock I guess  So I just had a nice 40minute walk instead.

It was interesting doing the calculation for 65% of max heart rate that TFB mentioned elsewhere as the fatburning cardio rate. The couple of times I've worn my HRM walking to or from home to the train (20 min walk) that's about the rate I walk at, so I know that a nice walk at lunchtime will be about right. I start off walking up the gentle incline of the Terrace where there aren't many people and I can get a good walk in without bumping into people all over the place. It's far nicer doing that for 40 mins than sitting on a bike at the gym for 20 mins, which is just an ordeal and an exercise in tedium. So I've taken to walking to Cuba St and back on my non training days for a pleasant bit of low intensity cardio.

Oh yeah, I also noticed when I used my HRM snowboarding that a couple of times (mostly at the beginning of the day) my heart rate went slightly over my supposed max (220-age, right?). I didn't drop dead, so I guess that's not lethal :pfft:
