A nice surprise arrived in my mailbox today... A NZFBB Newsletter...

Can't say I'm too impressed with what was in the newsletter. Mark Stewart made references to this forum (NZBB and Andrew - gee there goes your anonymity :P ) and Lisa Menzie's GoFigure website...

Is there a way we can get a copy of the newsletter on this site so everyone can see and comment on it?

I would like to see that to if possible , will be very intresting reading , any reference to the accumilating dept they are in due to miss management !!!

It was mainly about what a great job Mark has done and how that "most of the NZFBB debt occurs from athletes and officials travelling to International events" "Last year$40,000 was spent and the same as the three previous years."

Actually $38,110.75 was spent last year and $30,860.78 the previous year but 40 thou sounds more impressive.

Incidentally the total income for last year was $158,511.93 so the overseas travel was 24% of the gross income.Where did the other76% go?

The 2003/2004 year the gross income was $182,172.84 so the overseas travel was 17% of the gross income.Likewise where did the other 83% go?

Well according to the accounts published by the NZFBB 82% of the gross income was spent on running the contests($130,196.65) so that "most of the debt" did not occur from sending athletes and officials overseas, it was bad management in running the contests.

Add to this operating expenses of $30,403,42 and hey presto "insolvency"

Telephone rentals & toll calls$4,777.00,photocopying $2687.00,Stationery $1586.00,legal fees $3540.00,Committee expenses $4018.00 down from $10,988.00 the previous year and so it is easy to see why theTreasurers report said Quote "This paints a pretty sad picture for the future of the NZFBB unless some pretty major changes come about-hosting profitable events for a couple of years without spending the profits would be a start" Unquote No mention of athletes going overseas, just bad financial management.

Who can you believe?.All of this is taken from the official NZFBB financial reports which I am told any one can access as long as you are a member.Good luck
