Whats your semi-healthy indulgence?

Okay, so bodybuilders are amazingly driven and focused and all the rest, but you must all have something you indulge in each day/week to keep you sane?

I'm looking for healthy-ish ideas. Recipies would be good too.... :D

And it can't be a yummy variety of protein shake/bar. Thats just too predictable. :naughty:

Hmmm custard and fruit, thats a nice healthy option, hadn't thought of that! Although I'm just glad you didn't say 'horse'.....

The choc pudding sounds incredibly decadant .... what do you guys always mean what you say 'cheat meal' though? I never quite understood the purpose/justification for that to be honest. I've heard eating crap-high-fat junk one day a week is meant to 'shock' your metabolisim or something, although i always thought that was bull... is the 'cheat meal' theory along those lines?

yeah during the week i'd have a strict and clean diet.and i'd have one cheat day or one cheat meal depending on my bf levels(and if im cutting or bulking),just to boost that metabolism back up(especially true when cutting, where my calorie intake is very low),it also keeps me from goin insane from eating the same foods everyday.but yeah, everyones different.so worth giving it a try provided your bf levels low,and that you eat a pretty low calorie intake diet.i find that works best for me

One word for you darl.... KEBAB :pfft: There are some healthy places about that make good ones.

Make your own wrap, get moutain bread which is like paper thin, sling on some hummus, baby spinach and loads of chicken/beef.

when im bulking ice-cream is my weakness, but now I am eating clean it's raisins... that's as 'cheat' as I go, sweet dried-up fruit :-|

Yes cheat meals are to boost metabolism, or reward yourself after a hard weeks dieting.

don't do them :-)

Dieting is a great way to lose size and so not really ideal for for bodybuilding.

If you are eating so few carbs that your metabolism drops and you need a cheat meal....you're definitely catabolic and maybe ketonic.

use clean carbs and cardio to lost fat instead

oh oh, I might have a half glass of red wine once a week, maybe once a fortnight - wild huh ;-)

A glass of red wine on Friday night and Sat with a friend/s or Mike (who has diet zero) at a funky restaurant or bar......heaven

 I don't like sweet food that much so for me it's a fine glass of pinot noir.

so...you only pick Mike if your friends aren't available - ouch Mike that's gotta hurt!

Pinot Noir - snap

I dont have any semi-healthy indulgence. I actually LOVE the healthy food. My fav food on this planet is Chop Chop chicken with LOADS of spinach/Lettuce/carrots/Radish etc. Its godly.

But I do have a junk food day ( cheat day ) once a fortnight. And I do have a few HUGEEEEEEEEE weakness, Chit Chat's, KFC, Mc'donalds breakfast, hot chip sandwiches with loads of tomato sauce. But would only ever eat any of this on my cheat day. If im going to cheat, then its all the way.

BUT in saying that I did make something the other day that ACTUALLY feels like junk food, a spring roll full of veges and chicken that was baked. God it was good and good for me.

:smoke: wacky backy which is strickly for sleep assitance, well thats what i keep telling myself

Not that I condone such methods, but I did read online somewhere that some bodybuilders/athletes use it to aid recovery, as it forces them to relax.

LOL @ the interweb.

yeah its a lot easyer to use when you can rationalise it to yourself.

lol

mountain bread kebab aint an indulgence lol!

but it is good :P~

Excuse my ignorance, but whats mountain bread?

BUT in saying that I did make something the other day that ACTUALLY feels like junk food, a spring roll full of veges and chicken that was baked. God it was good and good for me.

Cool idea! I'm always looking for healthyness in disguise.... Recipe? :D

my semi -healthy indulgence would be home made pizza once a week or every fortnight.

 I thought homemade pizza was already really healthy, with appropriate toppings, a thin base and not much cheese anyway....

not often, but i just had raw fish. Its not the fish i worry about its the coconut cream =P~

How do you have raw fish with coconut cream? You just chuck it in it? Normally coconut cream fish is within a curry which would mean its cooked?

Never thought about having it raw, sounds yum. =P~ Man I miss real coconut milk curries... I only allow myself to use lowfat evaporated milk in recipies now.

when im bulking ice-cream is my weakness, but now I am eating clean it's raisins... that's as 'cheat' as I go, sweet dried-up fruit :-|

Lol, rasins as an indulgence is a pretty sad state of affairs....but thats some serious dedication.

As for cheat meals, Yeah i don't see the point in rewarding myself with junk that just makes me feel like shit a few hours later. Not much of a "reward" in my opinion :) But then again i don't do the hardout-frighteningly-strict-dieting you BB's do, so I don't really know what its like to diet to that extreme.

Haha as for wine, do you guys all miss the alcohol?

Grr why can't more guys naturally be interested in taking care of themselves. Its so so rare to hear of a male that actually wants to actively look after his health and doesn't live/eat in the moment.

They constantly moan at girls for being paranoid about their weight and being picky about healthy eating. Most think its unreasonable not wanting to eat out at BK's or order in pizza and get mega pissed off when you prioritize the gym.....Or so i've found anyway. *end rant* :x anyway......
