Will be warming up on Panzers bench anyway  :P ....

there is talk of 240 going on but I'd be happy to nudge 220 in a couple of weeks. Never benched with a shirt so hard to say - may take a while for me to adjust my BBuilding bench habits to effectively negotiate the shirt.

mean, getting a shirt to fit must be a mission? you have previously done that raw yes?

God damnit man! Leave some plates for the rest of us please.

haha ... need to buy more, thats the rule :pfft:

yeah Raw ... nearly 10 years younger lol. I think there is a Tonka hand me down in steaks war chest

oh nice, is the plan to work back up to that raw one day?

Doubt it mate - rotator on both shoulders blown some years ago now but never got the op to fix - means I cant bench wide anymore which is where you can find a little more power in the middle of you ROM. I'm hoping the shirt will mitigate that somehow. Also have longer elbows now too so get some pain from time to time that prevents a quick eccentric drop on a bench.

In saying that I want to maintain Raw lifts as much as possible, especially as I get older - to hold on to as much as I can.

  • 2 weeks later...

joints over calcify from years of heavy pressing ... increases density and size ... handy in a fight but shit under a heavy bench sometimes.

...

Training a bit fragmented due to work commitments.

Gave a shirt a try over the weekend and has sparked a bit more interest for me. Have always lifted raw so wasnt sure what to expect and to be honest had bagged shirt lifting in the past.

But having spent an afternoon in one I realise now that its quite a different lift and requires a lot of coordination and technique to get shirt to groove and pop correctly. It's sort of a thinking mans bench ....

As a bodybuilder I am so used to using the eccentric phase to work the muscle ... as such I found it hard to switch that off and just focus on getting it down and then exploding out. But instead eased it down and then gradual progressed into press. Will get better the more often I get into it.

Shirt was a bit large - was designed for a much larger athlete - snug on shoulders and chest but back was loose ... no tappered waist required.

Body weight is 123-125 fluctuating curretnly ... not sure I would have filled it at 131kg anyway.

210kg up easy enough - had a crack at 220 and got it up but a bit wobbly due to the shirt moving as a result of the slack behind.

Good fun though.

:)

Need more updates in here :-|

Busy time of year for business bro - will be a new plan and more regular updates happening in January for sure

My result at yesterdays Push/Pull ... body weight 123.8kg (was 127.5 at the CBC Open)

Bench 220kg

Deadlift 292.5kg (pb)

....

Squat remains 240kg (pb) (havent tested since the CBC but it's ready for a bump - I'm wanting 270kg + next year @ 119kg or less BW) - was going to test in the morning but want to give my knees a bit more time to cool.

Was an awesome day - thanks to Steak, Barbella, Pitbull and the CBC crew for yet another well run fun event.

The battle of the bench turned out to be a draw lol. Each of us trying to out smart each other (well me trying to pull the wool over Panzers eyes :pfft: )

220kg first attempt went up no worries for Panzer - may a nice ripping sound on the way down :P ... mine very much the same. Not feeling as much pop in the fury than last week.

Panzers next indication was 230kg ... so I went to 235kg. We both stalled lol - I felt soooo close at the top but clouldn't nudged the lockout.

3rd attempt I discretely nudged the weight up to 240kg ... figured I was soo close that if Iwas going to get 235 I'd get 240 ... didn't happen. Was a bit gassed at that point and hung a bit at the bottom - shirt moved a bit too as its not as snug. (Panzers face when the extra 5kg went on was priceless  )

That was basically it for the bench - Panzer tried a 4th but I called it at my option and we agreed to settle it in the Deadlift.

...

Deadlift put me in against my old adversary, Team Maddness Mastermind BIG JOHN ... Going intot he deadlift I was playing it down a bit so I could focus on the bench.

1st attempt 240kg - up no worries (no belt)

2nd attempt 265 - up no worries. Was happy with this as it was a 5 kg increase on my comp pb

3rd attempt 292.5kg - now BIG J right up until this point thought he was in a one horse race.......

After his 2nd lift I saw he was going to 290kg on his third so I called a gamble and changed mine to 292.5kg very discretely. Bearing in mind the best I have done in training was 280kg and it was well over 2 months ago - I also hadn't done any deadlifting for 3 weeks.

So Big John gets called before me - look on face of confusion ... where is Opti? :D ... and the rest is history.

I must admit I was feeling a bit nervous when you blasted the 290 bro ... maybe pushed me a bit harder lol. Awesome lift and congrats as I know you worked especially hard for it.

300kg remains the unicorn ... can't be far for either of us now.

Team Jacked strikes again ... (only very un Jacked on the day).

...

Welldone to eveyone who lifted- some really good weight and attempts being laid down. Thanks to BJ and Panzer for the challenge ... Traps for his assistance in the shirt - nice job on best lifter bro - team Jacked dominating all around .... Best lifter and "Highest combined total now" on the wall of fame ... not a bad effort for the "bodybuilder component" of CBC 8) ... as said above events should be blueprinted off what Damo and Rach put together - everyone feels part of the team, great prizes and recognition.

Looking forward to my first official outing next year ... providing the moons align of course ... CAPO - dium ... seize the Bar!

Well played Opti

Would have like to see you bench 230 for second attempt cos you probably would have landed it but I can understand the mind games you were playing lol.

Awesome deadlift too!

A Smolov Jr programme or similar and Nek Minnit you'll be looking at an 800 total! Go smash it bro

Loved watching you lift mate, you bring such intensity to the bar. Going to war every lift  The look on your face after that final dead was priceless, seemed you almost didn't believe it yourself.
