Let's ignore the fact that I'm a little emotional (I cried during campbell live last night) but I figure I'll come right soon.

Lol isn't it funny when shit like that happens!! Last month when one of my accounts at work didn't make payment I cried. But I was too embarrassed to tell my workmates it was from lack of carbs so just pretended I was actually upset about the account!!

Hope you new PT works out miss

So I've taken the plunge and gotten myself braces. They're pretty heinous and they hurt like hell right now. So I've taken the day off and hiding away from the public. It means I'll be living on soup for the next couple of days, cause chewing hurts a bit. To be honest I can't stand the thought of canned soup but I only really know how to make chunky soups. Feel free to share recipes.

My sister is 6 months into having her braces, she said the same thing aye when she got them, hurt like hell but she said it does get better. She said that when you get them tightened it hurts all over again but each time you get it done the recovery seems to get quicker. Dose up on the Nurofen!

Eats, she was having soup to start with aswell but maybe you could buy the soups from the refrigerated section, ya know the ones in the packets? Might be nicer than the canned ones?

Oh and get used to brushing your teeth ALOT

after the first week you can pretty much go back to eating normally but i recommend cutting up your fruit really small all the fiber-y bits are so hard to get out like the pulp from oranges.

Its so worth it though. i had braces for 2 and a bit years and i dont regret the pain or the soup for a second

Yeah everything seems to be getting stuck (lettuce is the worst!) so I carry my little braces kit around everywhere and it's fine. It's been a week and a half and I'm looking forward to them feeling a lil more normal :)

Just an update...

After a month on a new training and nutrition plan I've made some small changes. I've only dropped 1% in bodyfat (callipers) and a slight increase in muscle but that was to be expected, as my trainer was trying to see where I was at and what foods worked better for me. So keeping that in mind, we've decreased carbs on certain days and have increased fats just slightly (flaxseed oil, avocado etc). The diet I'm currently on is fantastic and my energy levels are up.

Other highlights, I managed to gain almost a centimeter on my biceps. Small change but I'm pretty stoked about it. I've also taken up kickboxing twice a week to help with my cardio sessions as that is where my weakness is. My trainer is going to leave the weights to me but train me on Tuesdays mornings with plyometrics. (Four weights, three cardio).

Will see how this all goes!

Why hello there! It has been a while hasn't it? (I'm a slacker).

Training is really good. Just really maintaining at the mo cause I've injured my right wrist and it's in a short cast. But it's due to come off in a couple of weeks so will amp up then :)

I've decided cheat meals are more useful than I thought. Last year I dieted pretty strictly for five weeks with little change in bodyfat (no cheats). So I added more good fat where necessary and had a cheat on Wednesdays and Saturdays (Sat meal being a couple glasses of wine, huge pasta meal with cheese). My body must've loved them because I started to notice a huge change on my body. A couple more lines here and there and a ton of energy to burn. So I'm on a pretty balanced approach to diet right now. I might even increase the carbs when I start lifting heavier again :)

Awesome chick, good to hear! Haha yeah I saw you posted in some other thread and wondered how you were doing :D Bugger about your wrist too, injuries are a pain!

Yeah it's a total pain in the ass. But I will start another journal when everything is up and running again. Thanks for asking tho!

Thanks guys :) Back from Japan, back to comfort. Was a crazy time over there (but we were totally safe, it was just getting back to NZ that was the mission). Totally feeling it for the Japanese, what a horrible time for them right now. Have so much respect for that country.

I went crazy on the carbs so looking forward to getting back into some decent training!

Awesome! Yeah I usually have salmon and rice for breakfast everyday, you'll notice the huge difference in fish quality between Japan and NZ- what's available in the supermarkets etc... No miso soup for me, I fear the estrogenic effects of soy :shifty:

Look forward to the new journal and nutrition then VC!

Welcome back, VC... interested to hear that you found the salmon/rice/miso a good way to start the day.

For me, that salmon would be bit of a step too far for 6am, tho.... is the fish really that different ?

Yeah TFB, most of the Salmon here is wild and the flesh is way more firm/leaner than the Salmon back in NZ- I think because most of the product in the supermarkets are farmed?
