So my sister told me that Phoenix Groupie was checking me out yesterday (!?). Guess she swings both ways

TODAY'S EATS AND WORKOUT

5m jog

Squats - 3 x 15

Seated Leg Press - 3 x 15

Glute/Weight Bag Raise - 3 x 15

Abductors - 3 x 15

Pretty low key workout today. Got a bit emotional for some reason - I'm guessing it was the lack of carbs. Needless to say I was scaring everyone else around me

M1: 1t oats, PS (Pre-weights)

M2: 1/2C Oats, seeds, banana, milk

M3: 85g tuna, almonds

M4: 185g tuna, 150g kumara, 2C green veg

M5: Protein bar (bit of a treat)

M6: Apple, PS

M7: 1 yolk, 6 whites, grated cheese, 2C green veg

I'll prob have a protein shake before bed.

Had a day off training today - will get back into some cardio and legs tomorrow.

Having a bake off at work today so I thought I'd go ahead and bake some protein brownies (and if everyone decides they taste too much like cardboard for their liking...well that means more for me!). They have the following

1C Oats

1.5C Protein Powder

1/4C Cocoa

1/4C Skim milk powder

1T Equal

2 Egg whites

4T Peanut Butter

1/2C Water

Mix and bake etc etc

To me, they taste delightful but I'm guessing the workmates won't quite feel the same way (considering they'll have apple pie and carrot cake sitting next to them).

I've decided for our work function, I'm going to let loose a little and have a few drinks. I've been a social hermit all year, time for me to get a little festive. This will be next Wed lunch time. Should be interesting.

Where are you going? We had ours today - the Lanes - heaps of fun, I hadn't bowled in like 20 years but I managed a couple of strikes which I was stoked about! I just had one wine though - I've had 2 other nights out with work this week and I've got a friend over from Oz on Sat, so I decided that my time to let loose before Xmas would be with my friend rather than with my colleagues. It was funny watching them get more and more drunk though, then try to bowl

Right, had a bit of a calorie-fest today. Twas the bake-off and I had a tiny piece of carrot cake. Teamed with a potluck dinner tonight which was relatively healthy, although I had a good handful of corn chips beforehand. Meh.

TODAY'S EATS AND WORKOUT

40m jogging

Lat pulldown 3 x 15

Bent over row 3 x 15

Seated side raise machine 3 x 15

Rear delt machine 3 x 15

I'm allowed to do some lights weights if it's a pulling motion using the wrist. So I was a bit naughty with the delt stuff but I couldn't help myself.

M1: Oats, PS, seeds

M2: Carrot cake, protein homemade brownie

M3: Beef, salad greens

M4: Orange

M5: 50g chicken

M6: Cornchips, 100g chicken, broccoli, salad green and two vietnamese rice rolls

I've been a bit sick for the last few days (so am home today to shake this bug). Managed to get some cardio in yesterday but today, I doubt I'll be leaving the couch. I'm semi-relieved as there's a film industry party tonight where I would have been pressured to drink and I can't be bothered with the politics. Now I don't have to worry :)

Still mildly average - a bit of nausea here and there (I better not be preggers??!!). But I've managed to get a cardio and legs session.

Legs - Wednesday

Leg Extensions 3 x 15

Leg Ham Curl 3 x 15

Lunges 3 x 15

SB Leg Curls 3 x 15

s/s SB Glute Raise 3 x 10

M1: Oats, seeds and PP

M2: Tuna, 3C veg

M3: Cottage Cheese and PP

M4: 2 x Apple Ciders

M5: Chicken Mince Ball and Bok Choy Soup

Finished with a teaspoon of PB (I'm becoming obsessed again)

I'm gonna take another day off training today to fully recover - feel like vomiting.

Weekend was pretty good. Did a spin class for the first time. It's funny how fit you think you are until you do a spin class! I found it really challenging, so will probably do at least one a week. Sunday was a standard 40m light jog.

Today I have a 'dessert night' with the girlfriends at Strawberry Fare. I don't want to be a party pooper so I'll go ahead and have something. Needless to say it'll be a morning and afternoon workout today!

Also went to Zombieland yesterday - was a bit of a letdown.

and what is Zombieland...the beehive?

:pfft: :pfft:

Still a bit crook - so I took a pregnancy test to rule it out (and thank god I don't have a bun in the oven).

It's likely that my body doesn't like the 'Jet Fuel' thermos. So I may have to ditch them, which is a shame, as I loved the energy it gave me. Back to old school energy from food!

I managed to have the 'Apple Pud' from Strawberry Fare. It was great at the time sugar on an empty stomach left me feeling a little worse for wear. I had to quickly get home and grill myself a bit of chicken to feel normal again!

I've done several body fat measuring techniques (gauge, callipers, tape measure) and they all give me a reading of 20%. So looks like I'm at least between the 20-22% mark. That may not be ideal (I really wanted to be at 18% by now) but much better than earlier this year (In march I was in the 26-28% region). I can't wait to get the cast off so I can start thinking competitively again - as that is still my long term goal.

I've been home with the family for two days now, and I'm already starting to go mad! My sister and her friends have been drinking beer for two days straight now, stopping to have a pie or two. Seriously when will they learn??!!

I've had the weekend off the gym but have kept the diet 80% up to scratch (The 20% being a few wines last night). I'm looking around my local for a gym that wont charge too much for a casual rate (or can anyone here hook me up with a two week pass at a Hawera gym??). I suppose I can just go for a run or bike ride for my cardio but wouldn't mind getting in three weights sessions this week.

Hope everyone else is having a fabulous holiday!

Hmmmm.... shame about that cast and the pesky wrist, eh! Most of the bodyweight things for chest/shoulders/back that I could think of rely on both arms. But...

Ab work: prone bridge, side bridge, they are done on the elbows so shouldn't involve forearms. Then there's crunches (regular, incline, swiss ball).

Legs - wall squats, lunges - essentially there's ample bodyweight stuff for quads/hams/calves.

So you're in the Naki for Chrissy..some very kool beaches down that way  Hope you have an awesome Christmas :)

When do you get the cast off VC?

Thanks chick :) Not sure when I get the cast off - I went to physio last week and it hasn't improved. So we're gonna decide if I need surgery in a month (eeeek). I went to the local gym this morn and it was $15 for a casual session. I reckon I can handle that for a couple weeks (maybe two sessions per week and just do outdoor cardio).

Thanks for the exercises TFB - do you think daily/every second day is overboard? Since I'm not using any weights?

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Well after being a bit of a lazy arse on my journal, I thought it was best I get back into it.

Well Christmas has been and gone and I'm happy to say I didn't gain any weight (but for good reason). I did indulge at Xmas lunch but I managed to get in two good runs that day. I kept up my training pretty much the whole time, and took two days off after NY Day. Basically, I turned to the dark side and entered a bikini comp/pagaent. I thought it would be a good way to keep me in check (and it worked). I placed 3rd overall which I'm pretty stoked with (And yes, you're allowed to think I'm lame).

So I'm back into it again and YAY! My cast has come off :) (and replaced with a strap). She said I can get back into boxing and lifting in a month. At the moment I'm doing 3 x cardio and 2 full body weight sessions where I'm not using my wrist so much. Today I might test the waters and do back.

I do have some goals this year, but they're a little more realistic this time around. I'm not going to compete any time soon - I'm just not ready. Goals:

Get back into heavy lifting without further injury

Become a better snowboarder (Park riding)

Get to 16-18%bf

Nothing too over the top obviously :)

Welcome back! Well done on the 3rd place in the bikini comp - nothing lame about 3rd place in a bikini comp! Might not be bodybuilding, but it must be awesome for the self confidence.

Great to hear your cast is off - were you wearing it at the comp?? That would've looked amusing!

Awesome to see your snowboarding goals in there - personally I'm terrified of the park, but I'm with you on wanting to become a better snowboarder this year (bought my Ruapehu pass when they had the super duper cheap sale a couple of months ago, so I'm ready!).
