Just want to say hi,

Hi i have just joined the forum. I am 38 and just recently started training after a 15 year break. I made myself huge (125 kgs) with big iron and steroid abuse almost to the point of extinction. Now i am all grown up and getting back to training with no drugs, artificials or the like. Just an excellent diet and regime. I hope to become a part of your community here and would maybe like to seek advice from time to time. Thanks :D

H, my goals are to build an olympic body NATURALLY. I dont have many short term goals apart from push harder every day. I can see my body grow on a weekly basis. I am addicted to the pain. More i get the more i want. Now i am older and more experienced i am absolutly sure that an excellent 40 40 20 diet (with a three day split) on natural foods will benefit far more than sweet expensive suppliments. In my opinion that is.

Good luck hey

Will you be using a protein powder for post workout recovery?

I will avoid the post workout shakes. I think that keeping my metabolism going with the correct foods and the correct amounts (which will be calculated every split) should be enough. Accurate timing on meals too....ah and loads of sleep should hopefully do the trick.

Unfortunatly many people think that supps are the way to go because they seem so impressive but by god they have some sugar in them. 15 years ago supps tasted like sh1t no sugars. Good healthy food will have more minerals (and shit loads cheaper) than supps i asure you. And some of the best bcaa's come from milk too (low fat of course) Ps i have grown loads since i started and thats on natural foods too. I never forget to drink a pint of water every sitting even if i have to force it down.

Possibly if you are able to eat within half an hour of going to the gym. Otherwise, i would reconsider that position. The reason you have a protein shake is so that you can flood the muscle with nutrients when they need it. It also depends on how much protein you can get into your diet naturally.

there are a number of different figures thrown around, but a common one is 3 times in grams of protein of your bodyweitght in kg. so if you weighed 70KG you would try to get 210g of protein every day.

i think it would be ok to start out without a protein powder, but later on a good WPI will be very low sugar and fat, and have over 90g of protein per 100g.

I completely understand you. I am on 48grams protein 6 times a day at exact intervals. However i also have 48 grams of pure carbs 6 times a day. And also oils. Muscle does not grow on protein alone. An incorrect balance would be say .....like rowing up stream. Get there slowly A bit like bad tecnique. How many times do you see someone in the gym with huge weights and crappy tecnique. I am aiming for a near perfect diet and near perfect tecnique. I think that the preperation is the key fo me. Many will tell you that you are only as good as your diet.

Its a pain in the ass though cos i just wasted an hour and a half preparing my six meals for tommorow.

It is all my own opinion though and it works for me as i am bigger each split.

I do appreciate you opinions though.
