Can you burn fat by only Sweating??

Hi all. This is most probably a newbie question. I sort of understand the fat burn during the cardio. That basically the heart rate has to be about 65-75% of max heart rate and then you have to be sweating for fat burn. (i.e walking/running at about 6km/hr or so on incline or so).

So i was wondering, does fat burn happen if your only sweating? I mean for example, your sitting in car driving with all windows closed for a while and its really hot outside and then u keep sweating like hell. :pfft: :pfft:

I am guessing becos of all that sweat, you probably just get dehydrated rather than any fat burn.

Explain please!!!

Thanks.

Ok Fuel source Fat/carbohydrate is dependant on % of HR max.

so the higher the HR the larger % of carbs and lower % of fat.

so to answer the question... no. You dont have to be sweating to burn fat.

and no sweating wont help you burn fat. but it will help you loose weight (water).

hope this helps.

ps.

dont be lazy and do interval training. as fast as you can for 1 min then slow for 2 min.

Thanks joshua. But could you please explain this a bit more.

And have recently started the HIIT cardio at home. My treadmil max is only like 12km/hr.

So i do 1min at 6.5k and 1min at 12km for about 20min.

the trainer at my gym says 18% for females
in theory that would be nice, but your trainer is wrong. because everyone looks different at different body fat percentages. also men and women also have plateuing bf percentage which means that at certain bodyfat ranges you will be making a loss but not look noticably different. its in another thread on here, so you'll only "know" for certain when you get there.

:ditto: And this water is replaced once you rehydrate.. or drink something.

:ditto: Me at 18% would look wahayy different to Small at 18%. There's too many variables to take into consideration.

what is the ideal bf% for males and females to still be relatively toned but not have people look at you and go ick they're too skinny?

1. Who cares what other people think

2. If you're consistently training and the weights you're lifting is increasing (or given your health history - the pain in your joints is decreasing..) than you're well on your way to getting "toned" and improving your health - which are higher priorities than BF %'s.

Sweating is a bodily function which is used to remove heat from your body so you wouldn't damage your cells and tries to keep your body at an optimum for functions. Sometimes also used to remove toxins from your body.

Working out makes your body use up energy from breaking down our fuels (carbs, protien, fat) and results in heat generated from these reactions. So you end up sweating to remove the heat.

Sweating from an external source (e.g. Heat lamps, sun) results from your body absorbing (mostly passive/involutary) the heat from external source and your body trying to expell the excess heat.

The key difference in burning fat is that where the source is from. If it's internal then that means you are using up your fuel which is more likely you'll end up burning fat along the lines. The external sources means that the heat was generated using fuels ELSEWHERE. Your body's fuels are largely intact and since stored fat is usually the *reserve* fuel which is used in lieu of other sources of fuel, you won't really burn much fat from just sweating.

Umm you can 'burn' fat while you are sleeping. So long as your basil metabolic rate is high enough and your intake of calories is less than the expenditure.

You can even sweat while your'e asleep if you really want to. Just chuck a couple more blankets on. :pfft:

"So i do 1min at 6.5k and 1min at 12km for about 20min"

that is the general idea... does it have an incline? Idealy you want to be traveling at a speed you couldnt maintain for 5min (but only do it for 1min) and for the slow, more like speed 4.

goovy dont get too hung up on what fuel you are predominately using...

Unless your diet is perfect you will want to burn off excess carbs and fat anyway.

the Abstract EU posted sums it up... but good luck with the Jargin.
