NABBA Counties Manukau Pics

am I right in seing a junior win the overall phys? Wheres all the big guys in Counties these days?? I haven't competed for a few years but I have to say that the numbers and the quality is declining. We're in serious trouble of becoming a laughing stock amongst other sporting codes... :(

hey all I just went and had a look on the nabba site at some of the photos. the competitors had some serious size, but is it just me or did most of them look really smooth? I thought the bloke who won the over all looked good and had cut as arse legs . any movement on the other photos you are trying to post on here?

the novice looked as a good starting point, very thick in the centre though which made the back look alot narrower.

not a big fan of the womens it seems that it is turning awasy from muscle and looking like a get as thin as you can comp

but that is just me, they definately deserve reward for the hard work :)

I was at the show, and I have to say the females were of a high standard. Not so the men. First of all there were only 1 or 2 guys under 6% b/fat that's not good. The guy who won, for a junior he was big. A little soft, but I spoke to him after the show and he tells me he was just wonted to qualify, and will be harder at the nationals. I think he will do well, his shape is nice, and as I said before he has size to burn. Overall Grinder you are right, this year is looking to be a non event, I have yet to see any freaks on the open stage. lets hope at the nationals they all come out. Maybe you should haul that ass on stage. We could do with a few more 2% ers like you again. YA FREAK!!!!!!!!

Like my mate here from London

Now thats what im talking about!!!!

Hey I just looked at the pics on the Nabba site of the C/M show and I have to be honest at the risk of pissing some people off, the standard was terrible, now this is not a dig at the dedication and guts it takes to do a show , this is at the conditioning of the guys, and the fact a out of condition junior could actualy take the overall placeing goes to show that the sport is having trouble!!there should be no way in hell a junior with undeveloped muscle maturity should even get a look in at the Opens winners, never alone the overall.Im not saying the junior didnt deserve it ,and good on him for getting it,and he is biggish and has heaps of potential if he gets his legs up , what I am saying is where are all the seasoned extremly developed serious bodys??

I have been here in the states now for seven days and in only 2 gyms I have seen more unbeleiveable bodys than I have or would see in NZ through out the entire year !!! , and its not the gear because we can get just the same stuff in NZ and in fact I would say it would be alot easier!!!

One thing I do know the guys and girls over here spend serious money on getting advise from experts in the sport, I have been asked 3 times if i could help people get ready for a show once they have found out who i am and what i do, and they pay big bucks, one guy offered me 6k in Vegas to help him !!!! I dunno maybe like you said prehaps the best is still to come , but i gotta tell you, nothing worth while comes easy, you gotta diet hard, i am here with Lee and he is dieting real hard, he has to to look good, just like all of them do, thats just the way it is !!! Thats bodybuilding

they look like they get better prizes at the end of it than the NZFBB :pfft: .

Alex and Leanne who organise the comp put in themselves for the overall winners a George Foreman grill each. In my mind these two do a really good job of organising Counties Manukau, and it has consistently been a comp that has attracted larger numbers than others over the years.

One of the reasons why the show had such large numbers is because of Leeanne's fine reputation at organising shows. The standard may have been a little below par (ok in general the standard was shocking - except for the overall place getters) because Leanne actively encourages those to get involved. The show had a good "vibe". The atmosphere was warm, friendly and relaxed in comparison to other bodybuilding shows I have attended. Backstage the comraderie was friendly and supportive - no bitchiness at all.

I say WELL DONE Leanne and Alex - you put on a fantastic show!

Think there were about 45 competitors all up. Probably more girls than guys. Think the biggest class of the day was men's novice physique short (about 6 guys?). There were no open men's physique competitors (hence a junior winning the overall) but a few open men's athletic.

The show had 40ish competitiors, of which only 18 were men and only two classes had more than three people in it. It means you were guaranteed at lest a third regardless of your calibre. OK sure it prob was a great show from the inside but looking at it on the web I cant but feel that the standards are dropping. I dont have any stats to back my opinion up but I remember "in my day" there were more competitors and the quality was better. Very general statement, I accept..

My point is that people who dont know / understand BB look at our regional (& National) shows as a joke compared to mainstream sports. All due credit to Salah for his win but I am still dissapointed that only one guy from CM (or elsewhere) showed up to comp in the open mens. I honestly believe an amal between the two fed's will be the only way to stop the decline and save this sport.
