hey i just started reading your post didnt read all 14 or 15 pages but you mentioned having athritis and the doctor recomending no weights

i have a good friend who is now in his 50s who has won many national titles in bodybuilding. he has a family history of arthritis and took up weights in his 30s and its given him relief from pain etc.

he still trains hard and needs painkillers for the athritis but he has featured in many athritis pamphlets as an example of overcoming it to a certain extent.

give it heaps in any sport you choose.dont hold back.

and get 2nd or 3rd opinions from doctors and other specialists.

Yeah, mine used to be quite severe and i've found since i've become more active that it's getting better although i still do have my days when i'm just in too much pain to move.

I should probably mention that it's Juvenile Idiopathic Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is arthritis which effects more than 6 major joints causing swelling. It's not caused by poor diet or poor cartilidge, it's an autoimmune disease like asthma.

I take loadsa drugs for it including natural ones like USANA procosamine and fish oil tablets. I'm also on an anti-inflammatory diet

i will have a chat to my friend tomorrow and see exactly the type of athritis his is.i know its not caused by bad diet either.his is hereditory.

he also gets injections of some sort of gold compound at hospital when it gets bad.?????

but im sure you have been to all the specialists you can to seek advise and the athritis foundation.

keep training though like you have found it does help and will be beneficial in the long run for you.

Ah yes cortizone injections! you can only have x amount over your life though, but they are very good at releasing the joint if it does get bad. I had one in my knee when I was 10 for my arthritis it fixed it real good!

haha yeah, i get them done probably about 4 times a year which is the max amount you're allowed. I've probably had about 20 or so by now, you get laughing gas for it though even though it doesn't hurt :pfft:

How are your clothes feeling? Get yourself a tape measure and start recording your measurements waist/chest/quad/calve/bicep/hips every week on a little excel spreadsheet. Believe me if you are not seeing results on the scales you will with this

Have you inspired any of your friends to hit the gym as well?

I did have a gym partner but he's too interested in girls now so he doesn't come to my gym anymore haha
