2009: TFB's Road to Buff

That was a really good class I have to say. It hurt a bit at first, so I zoned out and thought about all the cool treats I'm going to make for my Halloween dinner, and before you know it I'd passed some kind of pain barrier and was in the fun zone :D

Ah yes! The pain/fun barrier line it's a fine line! I seem to spend the first 20 mins of spin wondering if I could fake something and leave then the last 40 mins wanting to cycle forever!

's like Cycling Taupo... once you get to Turangi, it's flat, pleasant, almost relaxing. Except that you know Hatepe is lurking like a big black monster ahead!

What's it like, on the other side of 80kg? Is the grass as green as they say? :D I can't see it at all from my weeny 30kg!

Ah, but Vee, what I didn't put in my earlier post was that one of the PT's was working with a lady from Wellington Rugby at the next bench (rep in U21s, I think), and she was doing single presses at 60kg... she had a go at 65, but 70 was too much.

So, naturally the dork gene kicked in - I had to go hard-out

As a percentage of BF, I think I still got out-lifted

hee hee trying to beat her! It doesn't matter how much you lift it's not about that! That's what I keep telling myself anyway! It's all just numbers.

I'm going to go into negotiations with Gym Mother to revise her formula, so it's not just about lifts as % of weight, (so my 80kg press is 80%, and a 70kg chick's 60kg is 85%) but there's a handicapping for advancing years

That way, I can make the stats flatter my pathetic performance :pfft:

Ah, 's all good! Shall probably try to hit back n triceps today, add in medial and rear delts I missed.... go hard or go home!

Interesting mix of doms today... chest was grizzling during the morning from Wednesday, but has calmed down. Now back has chimed in, and triceps are muttering... just in time to sit on the plane!

And now for 24 hours of non-continuous enforced rest, interwoven with periods of standing in line, shuffle, stand, shuffle.

Somehow I think Pump'd be more fun. Maybe they could take the last few rows of seats out and put a cardio floor on board! Or at least a Smith Machine! On the other hand, imagine sitting there after a good workout and not being able to shower. I would imagine the seat next to me might turn up empty :pfft:

Bye TFB have a nice time- where are you going?

Off to New York (sadly, the State, not the City....) -took me twenty-eight hours, four flights, and a lot of bad coffee to get here! But now I'm here, and I've found a gym with enough free weights for at least a single-sided workout... no barbells, but enough dbs to let me burn off the excesses of the American diet :-(

Cinnabon! Get thee behind me, Vee-The-Temptress, those are te evil...like 400g of sugar and refined flour, barely a natural ingredient to be seen :naughty: :-s

Take care over there TFB 8)
safe travels over there TFB 8)

Thanks guys.

Man, did it rain today... overwhelmed the windscreen wipers, actually thought about pulling over under a bridge, after hitting some deep puddles and aquaplaning.

Fun wandering around the supermarket - seeing the reasons everyone's so huge.

Fr'instance: on Air NZ, I have maybe 10cm of spare seatbelt when buckled-up - but on United Airlines I have in excess of 30cm of spare seatbelt!

I have ONCE aquaplaned on two wheels - hit a patch of water on the straight at Levels - and it took a week to hose out my leathers!

As for coming to visit - I'd rather you visited me, but the Air Force tells me all their heavy lift aircraft are busy, and besides, they're only approved to carry ONE tank at a time

OMG. It's been four days since my last workout, my body feels like it's covered in slime.. NEED TO LIFT... still, found a place for dinner last night that only puts food for ONE person on each plate....well, apart from the Great Wall of Chocolate desert, but good lil TFB gave that the swerve. They had really neat little mini-deserts served in what looked like oversized shot glasses, much more sensible. And zero transFats in the tiramisu  =P~

Great Wall of Chocolate desert

I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but I think I'd be tempted to try that!

Don't do it, CC - think of the two-pack!

I'm currently being tempted by a book called 'Cheesecakes of the World' that has turned up on our 2 weekly Premier Books table. There's even one called Calypso Cheesecake, which is pretty much a Pina Colada cheesecake - mmm!

Nah... I wouldn't be tempted. Save cheesecake til you sample a baked New York-style cheesecake IN NEW YORK =P~

Besides, you're doing so well, you're going to rock the world this summer.

If you REALLY have to, buy the book and promise yourself an autumn full of cheesecake :)
