Thanks Vee, Nessie (you smooth talking youngster, you!)

I'm pleased with the time - still learning how to run properly (timing the last kick, that kinda stuff...not putting one foot in front of the other :doh:).

I'm not really a runner, 10k's about as far as I've ever pushed it, but I might put the Harbour Capital Half Marathon (28 June) into the training calendar for the hell of it...but the major goal's still to get to competition-readiness for the spring shows Sept-Oct.

As for the diet, it would prob be inadequate if I was trying to bulk up, but it's part of the pre-comp leaning-down, so diet has been set at a 500-cal deficit on training days, somewhat lower on non-training days. It's carb cycling on a one-hi, three low rotation, and it seems to be really manageable so far.

Monday 16th

Stifflegs 7x4

[warmup 2x 10x 60kg] 100 100 120 120 120 130 130kg

DB flat press 7x4

25s 30s 30s 35s 35s 35s 35s 35s 35s...last couple of sets were more like 3n 3/4 reps, finding the isolating effect of DBs a good workout!

BB upright row 7x4

40 50 50 50 50 50 50kg

Summary - did the stifflegs with a free bar, not a smith...off the floor, not off a box, but made sure to ground the weights for full ROM. 130s were turning me an interesting color. DB press, just found the 35s right at the point of starting to fail...bounced one db off the hipbone (that kinda smarts!). Upright rows, elbows higher than ears....but not too bad.

Gym was busy tonight...all the new-years resolution bunnies have found their way in!.

It's clear everyone's getting back into it when I have to go waaaaay down the page to find my journal...nice to see :clap:

Oh Poor Becbec... altho with the price of freakin' roses these days, I'm kinda skint myself!

the only reason I like Valentines' Day is cos it reminds me it's SWMBO Birthday in a few days...

Why is it, incidentally, that it's an occasion for guys to buy stuff for girls....never mind the flowers and chocolates and soppy cards, it should be about cars, bikes, and all the important things in life!

Actually, it's more 'cos:

a) I'm not a flowers kinda guy, and

b) chocolates are off limits while I'm training

It just seems a bit of a throw-back to have an occasion where (normally guys) are almost coerced into dropping a bundle on their partner because of a date on the calendar...we'll overlook for the moment that it's our anniversary four days later, and her birthday four days after that!

Truth be told, my wife is enough of a rev-head that she would probably have preferred a FTO, an MR2 or an M3 but my Lotto didn't come good :sad:

Tomorrow's not gonna be your day either..the Lotto guy assures me my ticket is "the one" - I quite fancy an Audi R8 in the driveway.

Mind you, after tomorrow's low-rep hi-weight squats, I think the Porsche Cayenne would be easier to get in and out of, for my completely-shagged quads! :shock:

haha i did get a rose from my best friend but only cause her boyfriends mum gave it to him, to give to her, and he thinks valantines is lame so she gave it to me :grin: it's dead now though!

Every time I buy a ticket and watch the Lotto on TV, there's a split second when I think OMGZMAYBETODAYZTHEDAY!!11

...But then the first number does not match the one on my ticket :evil:
