well, finally home!

comp summary: had a blast. Caught up with all the crew, and met some more good cunts at the same time. Me and tinytraps had a good battle, No suits in the end just belt, and i used wraps. have vid of my lifts, and some others.

Learnings from comp:

I lead up to comp with a completely different approach - used a more holistic powerbuilding approach. I did basically no deadlifting, and very little back squating (similar to westside in setup). Also due to being sick, i did no training at all in the week before comp, exept squats to 100 and bench to 100 the day before. Ive always beleived in the merits of deadlifting weekly, and thought that not squatting 2-4 times a week would make my weak ass squatting even worse.

But it was the opposite - i hit PB's in all 3 lifts, with more in the tank on all 3 (as you will see in the vid). So i am going to continue this approach, while sheeding some excess weight :lol:

squats

140 WWW easy as, equal PB comp standard

150 WWW PB easy

165 WWW PB reckon had 175ish

bench

100 WWW equal paused PB, terrible hammy cramp

105 WWW PB, easy

112.5 WWW PB, slow but smooth, had 115 there probly

deads

190 WWW equal PB

200 WWW PB

215 WWW PB, had 220,225 there. 8) 8)

Very happy, had a cracker time. made a cheesecake for the crew that has probably raised the stock value of toilet paper for the month lol.

PS- due to some old ladies describing me as a 'mammoth' when i took the platform, its now my new nickname :grin:

Ditto to what the others have said H....you looked strong with plenty left in the tank. Hope you had a 8) time in Aucks. Loved having you and Ali stay :nod: you were quiet as...must have been the cheese :wink: Next ones April so mark it in your calendar...tell Ali I need to her to help me run the table :wink: ...she was awesome :grin:

nice work bro! looks like there is a lot left in the tank everything flew up! does that f*ck you off a bit or are you happy you got www for every lift?

na mate, very happy. The general rule with first comps is to try and do it as clean as possible. For example, in my next one i would go int it with much clearer ideas of my maxes, and the 3rd attempts would be harder lifts.

im in a transitional period atm, just been gyming 3x week, nothing too crazy or strenuous. Just in a holding pattern until my next phase of training.

The plan is: to get to a healthier bodyfat level. Fat does help leverage, but i am carrying more than is required. wont be 'cutting', just wont bo on the "seefood" diet i was on building up to comp. Have already dropped a few kg's simply bt tidying up my carbs and skipping the sugary stuff (exept milk).

So i will be taking an approach known as 'carb back-loading. you can get the gist here.. so meals 1-3 will be low carb/higher fat, with meals 4 & 5 (before and after training) having the bulk of the days carbs. ive had my eye on back-loading for awhile, so looking foward to trying it out.

As for training, im going to be doing 2 things:

1 - continuing on a PB approach (tweaked for me)

2 - shifting focus onto getting a respectable squat, want 200 raw.

today just did a little train, went very well 8)
