Never have a prob with grip. Also find that sometimes with straps can put pressure on ur biceps etc.

absolutely .... I only use straps for deads and shrugs and only over 160kg on the bar. (1 or 2 sets at most). Have done it this way for 12 years ... can reach failure on pulldowns. Chins behind head no worries.

I have had issue in past with pain across my elbows after heavy shrug days --- using straps. Basically if you cant hold it in your hand its probably not a natural amount of stress for your body to handle which leads to injury .... an I hate down time.

3 dropsets preacher bb curls

used straps for last two sets of deads, got same reps as last week with an extra 10kg, huge jump(for me) so im rapt. and today back and bis are well sore so all in all awesome!! i am going down to 4 days/week, and keeping the back bis together...

and how much weight is that ?

shouldnt really use straps for deads in my opinion, use an alternate grip, your grip strength will increase quickly without straps

well to clear all of this up......

im lifting the same weight as a 5 year old girl compared to you guys, but the rep range is what i refer to when i say "heavy set". Im still learning!

yea i did try the hook grip, didnt like it, maybe would work on a smaller diameter bar though. tried mixed grip on deads and was BIG improvement, but i still used the straps because they are there to be used. But it seems most beleive that you shouldnt use them unless you absolutely have to..

which gives me another question, when you guys use a mixed grip, do you guys alternate you hands every set, ie rh palm in, then next set rhpalm out?

i guess what some of you are saying is harden the f*ck up and lift

and yea i do feel it in my hams from deads, is it enough to be a problem though? i dont have soreness even a little like after leg day,i takes days before my legs feel good after legs.

i get real sore hams from deads sometimes, oly stance works legs more too

and who cares what weight your chuckin round your just starting so dont feel ashamed to post it up

alternating grip leads to even development but for 1rm i always go right hand in left hand out, im right handed

and yea buy some chalk...... helps a lot.
