Awesome thanks!

Androidette had crossed my mind last night over a few beers.

During the 8 hours in the hospital room I managed to eat:

3 servings of beef

3 cups of cooked rice

1 can of baked beans

1 banana

6 litres of water

And yes there was dust in my eyes when she came out.

Will get back into training ummm ... today. I planned to do Legs yesterday but was busy so today it's on again.

Cheers :-)

Tonight I did a very late workout for me, 8:30pm kick-off for Legs.

It was a 'minimalist' session, just had time for 2 exercises so it was Leg Press and Smith machine Squats.

On the Leg Press I worked my way up from 3 plates each side to 8 each side. While going up in weight we slowed the press down for something different, maybe 2-3 secs up, 2-3 secs down. We use wide stance and go down as far as possible and you can feel the Quad at the bottom of the movement close to the crotch fire up.

Smith machine Squats next with feet behind the bar, just went up to just 40kg each side and 12-16 reps each of the 4 sets. Went deep and did a few rest-pause reps at the end of each set.

That was it!

Before bed it was 150gms of chicken and a can of baked beans.

Hope to have more time tomorrow for a workout but just see how the day and evening pans out. Was really happy to get a workout at all and Legs are where I am concentrating a lot of my effort this year.

congrats man

will be interesting to see if it effects your training and bulking at all ..

Cheers Luigi and yeah I'm interested in finding that out as well !

I think I've reached my limit for bulking at the moment.

I've force-fed myself for so long now, it won't be long before the intake I am on now is not enough for further growth unless I increase it again.

I reckon I've got about 2kg of food in my system and 2kg of excess fat so could drop back 4-5kg quite easily if I slow down.

That leaves me a net gain of 2kg in 3 months of muscle at a rough guesstimate. Such a lot of effort and a lot of food! $100/week in meat over 12 weeks is $1200 plus supplelments for 3 months, probably $1000 per kg!

I quite often do a midday workout to break up my day so I don't think baby will affect my ability to get to the gym. I need a bigger house with a bigger kitchen so many people can cook simultaneously without getting under each others feet. The inlaws cook every meal they eat being Chinese, then there will be baby food in 6 mths time to prepare, then me (Seem to have been relegated to last in food chain LOL).

So you might start to see me eat a bit more tuna out of cans :-)

Today's food is 600gms of chicken with a tin of tuna, lots of rice, and 500gms of oats (breaky and during the day).

Thanks Biggurl :-) I'm absolutely stoked and Mike K said to me ... I forget right now but it was something important about love and having kids :?

hey Small, will keep an eye out for you ok

Gym Rat why do you care about my wife, and why does the kid look like you :-| wtf!

I did a lunchtime Bicep workout today, too busy after work and evening with wife, baby, and business to do a workout how does Moe do it I don't know?

Was a good workout they pumped up pretty well with 4 exercises, this;ll be brief as I've run out of time tonight have to sneak in one more tuna meal (I know Small, practice and preaching ay 2 different things LOL).

1. Incline dumbbell supinating curls (together)

2. Incline (lying chest down on it) dumbbell curls (together)

3. preacher curls

4. cable curls

They're changing staff in City Xpress by making them redundant and offering P/T positions in other gyms from which they can then 'let them go' which is kind of sad. They've done it this way many times before from this gym.

I'm a Club Physical member not because of the crap equipment they have in their gyms but because of the friendly staff and convenience. I will give the noob staff a chance before possibly giving up my membership I can walk to Les Mills at lunchtime instead. So then won't be on the Club Physical BB committee after that either...sad it's always cool to encourage and take new BB'ers through from preparation to get up on stage for the first time.

Of course he does, :)

Mum and baby are doing just fine, tonight is their first night home so it will be interesting to see how a night with baby goes ...

Got Shoulders happening tonight and looking forward to it.

Looking forward to getting home first to see the baby though, then prepare for a very complete shoulder workout. I aim to cover every angle tonight.

AO has afternoon kindy let you out early?

I use to train either 5.30am and/or lunchtime when mine were newborns. They are little tikes around dinner time when you need to do things and can be hard to settle in the evenings/night. Best of luck, hope you get some zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Going to bust out the 50kg dbs tonight for shoulders?

I met your challenge Biggurl, 50kg for 6 reps + 2 assisted :D

The whole Shoulders workout was another awesome challenge and I went heavy for a good number of sets over all.

The usual warm-up machine we use is a side lat thing, you sit down facing it and with bent arms do side lat raises.

This time we used it as a legit exercise and not just as a warm-up.

After a couple of warmup sets we went down to the stack for 3 working sets, 8 reps + 4 assisted and holding the last one up for as long as possible.

My shoulders felt awesome after this and with Biggurl's challenge in my mind we moved over to do seated dumbbell shoulder presses.

It was sets of 20 (20 reps), 30 (15 reps), and 42.5 (8 reps stopping well short of failure I could have done 12) before picking up the 50kg dumbbells and doing 6 +2 reps.

I can get the 42.5s up into position on my own with a swinging motion, not the knee-jerk way which I do use for lighter weights and incline presses. For 50's I need 2 people to hand them to me then one gets behind and give gets me started on the first rep and I'm away for 6 on my own.

I dropped to the 42.5kg dumbbells (bad decision) I failed to lift them up even with someone's help. So I dropped them and grabbed the 30kg and repped out another 6 to squeeze out any signs of life left in them.

I used a weight belt and chalk for this last set. The weight belt felt necessary imo as my whole body tightens up to make these lifts, the chalk is a mental preparation thing. It's like in the Army and putting cam-cream on your face before heading out on a patrol, it's war!

After a rest and putting away the dumbbells we headed upstairs to the reverse pec deck machine for rear delts.

Again, we moved down through the weights, then my training partner put the pin in the weight one above the complete stack. I was like, wtf if we can do the one up from the stack surely we can do the stack. We could :-)

He said there's some Jay Cutler thing about putting the pin in the stack one above the last one, even though he may add extra weight he doesn't pin the last weight - LOL, pussy!

On the stack we repped out a great 3 sets for 10 or so reps, straight arms as we could, and on the final set dropped the weight 2 more times and repped out to the max each time.

That left time for dumbbell side lat raises, my usual strict-as ones using 10 and 12.5kg dumbbells in front of the mirror admiring my swollen delts (both of us ay mate ;-) LOL I know you're reading this!).

This was a fantastic shoulder workout and am really happy with the progress of my delt development.

I used to think having wide-ish shoulders was enough until I was told my delts needed work and so I started to bring them up. Now I see the difference between having wide shoulders and big delts.

I think, no, I know, that if you compete you should find people who will tell you what points they think you are lacking with. You don't have to listen to them, but you have to get critiqued and feedback constantly to move your focus to weak areas, or at least look at areas that people think are weak and re-assess your training or not.

But then about 4 weeks out from a comp you need different critiques. Not 'your delts need work' but 'pose like this to hide the fact you don't have them' LOL, if you know what I mean. It's too late about 4 weeks out to make drastic body changes so there are some things you don't need to hear.

I actively seek certain people out at certain times of the year and ask them what they think of my body, I know which ones give me constructive timely advice and I tell them my goals so they know where I am heading which I think is important.

Yesterday I ate a lot of meat, I cooked 800gms of beef plus 400gms of chicken for the day.

At night I cooked another 400gms of beef and a can of baked beans and finished eating that by 10:30pm (so about 1.6kg of meat).

I need it, I need that every day if I can but the last 3 days just getting under 1kg a day so catching up now and back into going hard-out with eating and training.

Today I have 800gms of beef for the day and will have another 400gms before the night is over so 1.2kg for today is okay too.

Carbs is white rice, oats in the morning, had a burger and a beer for lunch yesterday so more carbs there as well (1 Radler beer, not much really).

Awesome work!Keep it up

Watching Phil Heath's The Gift dvd, he gets someone to take pics of him doing different poses every week and compares them, making adjustments based on the pics. Might be an idea to use pics along with what other people say.

Woo hoo you're a strong bugger! I have shoulders tonight and do well under 1/2 that haha

Any weights a good weight

Last night was Chest and Triceps.

Warmed up the triceps on cable pushdowns with the small e-z-curl-looking bar, I like this one. Went down to the stack and did 4 work sets 8-10 reps.

Next up was close-grip bench press under the Smith machine. Did a few sets with 40kg each side but wrists tweaked a bit so the strict movement doesn't suit either the grip or the angles of my arms. I could have gone heavier but I was getting a good tricep workout anyway. Finished off with 2 sets wide-grip 3 plates each side 8 reps each feeling happy with that.

We moved to the tricep overhead press machine and am sad to say they need more plates on this machine and not because we're strong. I've seen others do the stack so it needs to go up. We loaded dumbbells on it and were repping out 10 each set and stopped when we got bored, time to move on.

The seated press machine was next but this one is weird and goes upwards slightly and the arms swing in a free motion, really works front delts as well and we didn't do specific front delt exercises on Shoulders night. Gave this everthing I had and some assisted, walked away from this machine feeling like my upper chest was about to pop out of my top, fantastic feeling!

If memory serves me correctly we did tricep dips next, hanging vertical to stress the triceps mostly. No added weight just 12-15 reps, rest between sets was minimal and the whole tricep / upper chest tightened up nicely together on this.

During this workout moving from chest exercise to tricep exercise can mean the pump goes down on one while you work the other. We picked the right exercises to avoid this I feel and my chest and triceps were up the whole time. Close-grip bench press finished off with wide-grip did that, and the dips too.

Lastly we did the seated tricep pushdown machine, whole stack, few sets then out of there.

This workout was early for me, 5:15pm in Les Mills was kick-off time and I usually would get there at 7pm. There's quite a crowd and sometimes groups of boys crowd together around some old man and laugh and do half-arsed workouts. one guy still had blood on his delt from the needle LOL. Obviously a group of boys and their roid expert. Their joking around actualy inspired me to work harder on the sets I was doing. I was thinking...while you're playing around I'm going to work harder. Even though I doubt none of them will ever walk on stage I kind of imagined they might and so I was getting one up on them by knuckling down to the job at hand. Anyway, it was motivating, I got it from them, it was all good :-)

Today is REST day. Feeling the effects of having a baby and taking advantage as I promised I would to make the most of the new situations. This morning at 1:30am after the baby had been fed I downed a protein shake. Damn if eating every 3 hours day and night works for babies it'll work for me too - HAHA!
